Charming House is a nice little place away from the crouds of the tourist locations but not that far that a short walk won't get you to the main attractions. I enjoyed the neighbohood and resturants close by. Very close to the Acadamia bridge for accesse to the main island. Makes walking exersions easy to plan. There are two rooms that are in a separate […] building from the main lobby which is where I stayed. The room s was small but I was out walking most of the time. The staff was extremely accomodating. We stayed at the Charming House DD724 for 3 nights while visiting Venice during our Italian vacation. I could not have been happier with the hotel staff, the beautiful room, great location (slightly out of the center of town - which was perfect), and overall beauty of the hotel. This is not a large hi-rise hotel. Instead, we stayed in sort of an apartment. […] It was "charming"! The rooms are decked out in beautiful and funky art. Our room had a Juliet balcony overlooking a canal - just wonderful! The staff is very friendly and helpful. They spoke English as well - which was very helpful since our Italian is not all that good! The hotel is located right next to the Peggy Guggenheim collection. It is out of the center of town, but a very short walk to EVERYTHING. For us, it was nice to be able to get away from the large crowds during the day. This is a beautiful hotel and made our stay in Venice that much more amazing. I would absolutely recommend staying at the Charming House during your visit to Venice. Also - try to stay at least 3 nights during your visit. I feel 3 nights is the minimum amount of time to stay in Venice and REALLY enjoy all she has to offer! Read more

This is a charming hotel and the folks who work there are quite sweet and helpful (not always the case in Venice). The room was quite clean, comfortable and well-appointed. They will take their time with you to […] explain directions & provide suggestions, just remember they do the same for others, so you might have to wait for your turn. I stayed in a single room which was a great deal for Venice but did have a few downsides. It was very tiny, which worked for me; but maybe not for others. My room was in the hotel's annex which required dragging my luggage up a flight of narrow stairs (no elevators in these old buildings). It also required using a handful of keys, one included an old skeleton key which was a bit difficult to unlock. Since the hotel is set off a piazza and so does not have it's own dock, you'll have to drag your luggage (even if you take a water taxi) from the canal to the hotel (about 5-7 minutes) on the narrow Venetian sidewalks. The breakfast buffet was included in my room's price and was quite tasty. All in all, this is a cute hotel and I'd recommend it. I'd just recommend that Americans who are used to the American hotel experience be patient and flexible. Read more

My room was not in the main hotel, but in a residential building close to the water with one floor belonging to the DD724 hotel (but physically separated about 50 meters). The room was clean and nicely furnished, but very tiny, just enough room for a single bed and a small side table. The Charming House is not the sort of place to stay in you like being in the centre of things, or if you enjoy people-watching. Apart from a delightful communal breakfast room and a lounge that I never saw used in four days, your room is where it's at. But the rooms are big, well appointed and stylish (a slightly more effective bedside lamp would help!). […] Breakfast, by the way, is lovely - a great selection, really personal service and very chic. The Dursoduro is great is you crave peace and quiet, and it is very close to the Peggy Guggenheim gallery and the Accademia bridge is about four minutes away (complete with its vaporetto stop). It was our first trip to Venice...in fact we are not very experienced travellers at all. Consequently finding the hotel late at night from Marco Polo airport was a little daunting. So we took up the hotel's offer of booking a water taxi. Expensive, but a great start to our break and we were glad we did it. It dropped us off within a stone's throw of […] Charming House, which was easy to find from the directions given. (Once I had figured out that what look like streets on Venice street maps are often just alley ways). We chose this hotel because the contemporary style interior, as shown on the web (Flickr and Facebook as well as Expedia), looked very much to our taste. We were concerned that the photos might have been taken a few years ago and it might not look so good now, but this wasn't the case. Or room was great, especially the shower room. Our only minor gripe was that we didn't have much success with the air conditioning, but that could have been finger trouble on our part, and we didn't bother to ask about it. Breakfast was excellent. Certainly didn't anticipate the egss and bacon. Great staff, too, and convenient positioning for the most famous sites. Read more
