Las Huacas Hotel & Suites - Panama City

Not a bad place if you just want to hang your hat and then go about the city. But for pampering and feeling special, this is not the place. The staff were young and most were very nice. Each time I had a problem they genuinely tried to fix it. But some of the staff seems detatched and disinterested and more into talking among themselves. I was in three […] different rooms during my 3 night stay. Each room had something wrong with it. The first room had a full view of a concrete wall about ten feet away from the only window in the room. The second room had no hot water. The third room had a malfunctioning clock and a tv remote with dead batteries. The price wasn't bad ($110 a night) but friends of mine were staying at another hotel 3 blocks away and paying the same price for a much plushier, prettier place. There was a temporary problem with the WiFi system, which was a bit inconvenient, but no other problems and the hotel location is ideal at the heart of Panama City - though probably not so great for families with children !

ia My wife and I stayed at Las Huacas for 12 days. I found the staff to be professional and friendly. We were conversing in spanish. The hotel is in a safe part of the city ,I never felt fearful or threatened while walking around, not even at night. Close to the hotel you will find restaurants, bussinesses and hotels that have gamIbling. Also close […] by is Via Espana where you will find a MacDonalds and El Ray supemercado. Walking passed El Ray on the same side of Via Espana is the Don Blass restaurant it has tasty meals at reasonable prices.Getting back to the hotel it offers a free buffet breakfast which was just O.K.Basically scrambled eggs,sometimes pancakes. There was fresh fruit, juice, cereals,toast and coffee.I would rate breakfast as a C plus overall.In regards to the room it was a fair size with a very nice TV. The bathroom was clean and the hot water was abundant. The bed large(probably king size) and comfortable. The A.C. worked great and the maids kept the room immaculately clean. We never used the swimming pool on the ground floor but it was clean and looked inviting. The hotel is expanding so there is construction ongoing which should be completed by Dec. 2012. The construction would not be a deal breaker for me, ask for a room away from the construction. Overall a nice hotel in a safe part of Panama city. El dia q llegue me entragaron una llave y cuando fui a la habitacion no habia sido limpiada y tenia un fuerte olor a sudor humano. Regrese al counter y me enviaron con un empleado quien me instalo en otra habitacion y encendio el aire acondicionado y se fue. El aire no enfriaba nada, estaba descompuesto. Me cambiaron a una terecra habitacion y el aire […] si funcionaba pero con muy poca potencia, enfriaba muy poco. Yo mismo saque el filtro y me percate q estaba sucio por lo que el aire no pasaba y por lo tanto enfriaba muy poco. Yo mismo lo lave con agua y jabon y tenia inclusive restos de material de cosntruccion. Yo mismo tuve q lavar el filtro lo que quiere decir q me cambairon tres veces de habitacion y termine yo mismo, limpiando el aire para que enfire. Read more

MUy buen hotel, el personal de recepcióon muy amable, atendieron mis pedidos rapiamente. Y lo mejor de todo me contactaron con un guía que nos hizo conocer los lugares más importantes de Panamá. Lo único que les recomendaría es que siempre den una copia de las ordenes del restaurant a los huéspedes. Cuando cancelé mi cuenta por comida había una orden […] que no era mía.
