We stayed at the Red Vic on our last night in SF and had a fine time, but we missed out on breakfast because it didn't start till 9:00 and we had to leave for a flight by 8:30. The room was fine, but the heat was fickle and the room was quite cold when we arrived. The desk staff was polite, but not terribly interested in sharing information about the neighborhood or places to eat or grab a pint. Our hotel from the first night - in the Financial District - was twenty bucks cheaper and had better amenities and staff.

It's a bed to sleep in, a place to shower... has some charm however the complimentary breakfast isn't much of a breakfast unless you are satisfied with toast and coffee cake... not somewhere for a 'bacon and eggs' or a fruit person to go however there is a McDonald's down the street and a few other coffee shops. The location is decent but if you plan on doing alot of tours stay closer to the Wharf since that's where most of them leave unless you don't mind a 45 min bus ride.

The rooms are unique; my room had many plants and had a tropical feel. The guests and staff were all very friendly. Nice artwork on the wall. Owner was own premises. Although the commercial part of Haight St. that the hotel is on doesn't have much to offer (a bit tacky) the hotel is close to Golden Gate Park and is accessible to more gentrified shopping areas and restaurants. Close to public transportation. Sunday mornings guests get a chance to meet each other and the owner over coffee. The Red Victorian therefore still has a bit of the 'real' Summer of Love in it!

"Quaint and funky, a trip to the 60s", are apt descriptions of this surprisingly quiet B&B in the Haight/Ashbury. The amenities for the business traveler are just one--Wi-Fi... but it's spotty and low power. After leaving for dinner it took an hour of circling to find a street parking place--no parking garage. No TV is available in the building. Stairs are creaky--no elevator. Pillows were flat. Decor was over the top!

Accueil sympa, jeune et serviable. Les salles de bain sont belles et originales. Les photos des chambres ne reflètent pas la réalité car mal vieillies. Bonne situation géographique de l'hôtel mais quartier mal fréquenté le soir.
