The castle is so......great! stunning view!!! But the front desk service is not very good! We ordered a king-bed room online, but they gave us a queen-bed room and they had a couple of king-bed empty rooms left in that day. We knew that because they let us move to another king-bed room after we found that our pillows were dropped on the ground by room […] service. That was strange! and the breakfast was awful. OK, we were coming for the view and the castle, not for the room service or the breakfast! So we were still very happy! By the way, the girl who worked in the front desk at that night was very very nice, and help us a lot! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"How the other 1/2 of 1% lived"
Amazing place, rescued from decay by its current owner. Go for the experience of living in a Gilded Age relic, and be sure to take a stroll in the magnificent grounds. Biggest negative? The windows in our room (and the hallway leading to that room) were absolutely filthy. The hand cranks that would normally allow them to open were all missing, and the […] glass was so obscured with dirt, residue, and what (to me) looked like the calcium buildup one finds on long-neglected shower doors, you couldn't even THINK of taking a photo of the manicured grounds. If you are looking for a perfect romantic getaway. This is the place. My fiance and I stayed here to celebrate our engagement. It was clean, comfortable, great service, great restaurant (highly recommend eating here), and an owner that will talk with you as you walk around the hotel. You just cannot beat this place. Plus, it is absolutely beautiful. […] The artwork, the library, and the gardens are all stunning. My fiance and I had a truly phenomenal stay and we will be returning. "Feel to the Manor Born"
Lovingly restored to give each guest the feeling they have been transported to another world - from the luxurious Italian linens, the ivory damask tablecloths and napkins for the complimentary breakfast we felt "to the Manor Born" during our two night stay. Our original reservation was for one day, but we were so awed that we extended by one night. […] Our host and property owner introduced himself and welcomed us "to his home" and could not have been more gracious. This is an experience you will never forget - from the interior furnishings and comfort to the stately grounds, lovingly restored to their original grandeur over 30 years by the owner. Relax at the bar, have lunch or dinner in the castle; if you should feel the desire to wander out into town - Huntington is a foodie paradise, and a ten minute car ride from Oheka. Put Oheka Castle on your bucket list, it will be a memory forever. 55 miles from our home in Rockland, so if you live in the city, you can be there in half that time. The Gold Coast of Long Island was such a discovery, and i can't wait to go back there again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"What a terrific surprise! Memorable"
Entering the castle was like going to the most elaborate home you can imagine. The staff was extremely accommodating. The food was outstanding. Wandering around this place you get the experience of going past the ropes and living in a place that you could only view at a distance elsewhere. Can't wait to return.Genuine Expedia guest review
Amazing experienceGenuine Hotels.com guest review
i was welcomed at the front gate after that well lets say the staff at check in where neither warm or friendly. Being with my mother and child i expected someone to at least help us to our room but not one gentleman in sight. Rude men who could care less you were spending 300 a night. on check out they charged me an extra night because i did not check […] out in time but it was because my mother and daughter were waiting to be served lunch and they had them wait an hour for set up! i could not possibly leave the room with all the bags myself and like i said no one would dare to offer help! the room itself is pretty and the grounds are nice but giving my daughter a princess experience was not exactly the case what i got was a bad experience and will never go back! a wasted 300 dollars and 2 hr drive! "A unique historical experience..."
There are few places in America where one can stay in one of the most opulent mansions of the Gilded Age in America, which Oheka was (and is). The chateau and grounds are magnificent, the staff was friendly, food very good, and room spacious (but needing brighter bulbs next to the bed for reading). Check on whether there is a wedding or business retreat […] taking up the guest rooms and public spaces on the dates of your planned visit, and try to book another time. Better to enjoy Oheka with fewer related guests on sit. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Ambiance amazing very romantic!"
Oheka castle is an amazing historic private home Kudo's to the owner for the work & investment he's made. But I was extremely disappointed in the comfort of the bed. I could not sleep well. You could also see signs of recent wear and tear in the Castle. The bar service was excellent. Started dinner in the restaurant very nice food presentation & nice […] surroundings and staff very customer friendly however room service was slightly off. Food was brought to the room without covers which I had to ask for. Also Complimentary snacks in the room were stale. I will return for the atmosphere for lunch or dinner & to enjoy the bar but don't see myself coming back soon for an over nite. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Worth the visit"
Oheka Castle is a beautiful getaway. Gary walks around, greeting guests, and buying a drink or two. The bar/restaurant staff, however, need to fine tune their people skills. We went for our anniversary and enjoyed a lovely, peaceful night away.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

My husband and I stayed at Oheka Castle and were very impressed by the grounds and the cleanliness of the castle, however in the exercise room there was no cable they said they were trying to get it. I couldn't believe I was actually staying in a castle! The room was at least 1000 square feet with 20 foot ceilings. The grounds were immaculate, food good and the staff very friendly. "Fantastic stay at Oheka Castle"
We are leaving New York after living in Manhattan for 18 months . We have always wanted to visit Long Island's Gold Coast & to stay at Oheka Castle. We were not disappointed, the Castle & Gardens were magnificent & we enjoyed the Restaurant & Bar so much that we dined there both nights.Genuine Expedia guest review
Loved it! Stayed one night. Staff very friendly. House and grounds are beautiful. Very friendly owner. Celebrated our anniversary there. "What a TREAT!"
We stayed there on our first night of our anniversary weekend. We were headed to the LI vineyards. Our flight was delayed, so unfortunately we missed having dinner or drinks in the stunning dining room and bar. The room was charming, the bed was beyond comfortable! Take time to take a bath in the beautiful tub- you are in a castle- so take advantage […] of the experience. We took a nice walk around the gardens and down the long driveway. My only regret was not getting there early to experience the whole facility. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Not worth the price!"
Perhaps it would be a different experience on a weekday, but weddings seem to take priority over hotel guests. Starting with a less than hospitable welcome, we were yelled at TWICE while on our path to and from dinner (guess they thought we were trying to crash the wedding?). It was our 33rd anniversary, which upon booking I informed them of. At this […] level of hotel, we expected at least some form of acknowledgment—Nothing. Dinner was delicious, and our server was nice, but that was the only good thing about our stay. Room was just OK....No comfy chairs or couch and couldn't see out the damaged window! We paid $475 for the room, but 310 seemed like it was one of the lesser ones. I asked to speak to the manager Sat. night, and was told there wasn't one there! Coming from CA, the grounds were green but lacking in beauty—no touches of elegance. We were very disappointed. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Couldn't have asked for anything better. Do not discount this hotel based on looks, the price is only a few dollars more than other area hotels and well worth the extra. Beautiful property, grounds, quiet and peaceful. Would definitely stay again.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Looks great, not much substance though"
The castle is very interesting and beautiful, and the rooms were comfortable (although a little cold when we first arrived). The bathroom was also clean and spacious, with a stall shower and a tub. The individuals working in the front office were friendly and attentive, and were quick to help. My girlfriend and I were there for a wedding, and the bartenders […] and waitstaff were mediocre at best. The food was actually not good. Maybe it's because they had a huge wedding to cook for, but I don't think that should be an excuse. The location is relatively secluded, tucked away near a golf course (also very close to Bethpage), and it's about a ten minute drive from a nice walkable shopping district in Huntington Station. "No customer service skills"
The hotel was beautiful and the rooms comfortable but the staff had no customer service skills. The most expensive room there was 1065.00 a night and for that kind of money you would think the service there would be a 4 star experience. Other than that, the hotel itself was nice and relaxing. "Wonderful Hotel and a even better staff..."
I am thrilled that my friend suggested i stay there.. Upon arriving there, i was immediately impressed with the knowledge and class of EVERY employee! From the person at the front gate, her welcoming style and grace was just the beginning of my great stay there... I am in Real Estate and I found the Castles story quite interesting, and EVERY employee […] LOVED the owners, and their happiness shows in each of their longevity employed there... I wandered to the Bar/Restaurant and I received great service from Rosa (Tended Bar) and my waiter was fabulous as well.. The food was out of this world as well.. Above all, as I sat at the bar, a man introduced himself and spoke with me for quite a while about HIS HOME.. The Castle owner made himself available to EVERYONE and he also introduced me to his guest/friend as we spoke about Real Estate... My only "Complaint" is that it is not the "Easiest" place to navigate if you are disabled, although you do have all of the proper items (elevator) for EVERYONE... The Castle is being renovated currently, so I actually enjoyed my "Walks" from employees leading me out of the Castle , each time explaining what he was doing to expand his wonderful place.. The room was simply gorgeous, featuring a NEW bathroom that had a full size bathtub/ jacuzzi, a separate shower/steam shower, and the toilet is also in a separate room.. Wonderful!! I strongly recommend this place if you are looking for a nicely tucked away secret get a way!! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Beautiful property-not quite grand rooms"
Room decor a bit less than one would expect for the price, but very beautiful grounds. Good food in restaurant, but again, not as good as the price should warrant.Genuine Expedia guest review
"It certainly is a castle!"
A traveler needs to approach this understanding they are staying in a castle which has been renovated to include hotel rooms. This is as opposed to the property being designed and built as a hotel. In this mindset, a guest will enjoy the large rooms, super comfortable beds and the delicisious food served up in the restaurant. I was there during the […] week and at the end of the season (weddings) so it was quiet but I can visualize the huge events which the Castle is capable of hosting. The fitness room could use a bit of re-arranging with the free weights moved from the back wall where they are difficult to use in a tigh space. Also, I am not sure the poster at the bottom of the stairs leading from the fitness area to the "Man Cave" is appropriate as it can easily seen by the public. Overall, a friendly staff, beautiful grounds and full digital cable as opposed to a select hotel package. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The owner and staff work hard to welcome guests and make sure they are comfortable in this beautiful French chateau. The dinner and breakfasts were great, our room was furnished with beautiful antiques and there is plenty to do in the surrounding areas of Huntington and Oyster Bay. "Fancy place, but lacking attention to important..."
Had a corner suite. Wireless connection poor, resorted to wired connection instead--very slow. Bed inferior, deeply concaved toward center--you sit on the edge and then literally tumble into the middle of the bed. Hard to turn over in. Poor sleep quality. I reported the problem but the bed/mattress was not changed, problem was ignored. Bathroom facilities […] very good. Air conditioning excellent and silent. Dinner service was good but was way overpriced for the mediocre pre-prepared cuisine delivered; to be fair the restaurant was in a period of transition to a new chef and suppliers; nevertheless, if you cannot deliver what you promise, then don't offer it and gouge your hapless customers. Access for luggage is through an interior construction zone. Overall, I would not return to this hotel in its present state, or definitely not to this suite. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
I'd seen this place on TV, so I knew it was beautiful. Still, there was something really special about spending the night in such a beautiful place. Even though ours was the smallest room with no view, we still enjoyed being able to wander the grounds and explore this lovely hotel. It is still a work in progress. You can see the areas that haven't been […] completed, and compare them with the places that have. Once it's all done it will be a showplace. "Quiet, quaint and comfortable."
My wife and wanted to get out of the city and experience a calm and comfortable few days out east and we got it. We chose two nights during the week hoping to avoid the hectic weekend hub-bub of the weddings and multitudes of people. There were other couples staying in the Castle, but we hardly ran into them. The staff was polite, courteous and easy […] going. The food was quite decedent. I ordered the Chilean Sea Bass and it was smothered in a red sauce along with every kind of mollusk in the ocean. Large, hearty portions. The room was nice, and the bathroom clean and well laid out. We enjoyed a hot bath with the complimentary bath salts and the sunset in our bathroom was perfect. Overall Oheka Castle is a nice hotel. Where the staff was right on target, the building, rooms and windows are kind of hard to see thru. The windows do not open, and are actually kinda fogged over. The whole place seems to be built on top of the old Castle and its not really a Castle anymore. The decor was kind of old, not old in the sense of antique, but kind of the idea of "old" and "antique looking" from the 80's. The paintings in the hallways and in our room seem to be mostly from the same artists you would find selling their paintings outside the Met in a quick decorative fashion. The point; its not a detail place. Its a carefree, breezy, relaxing spot to go for a getaway. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
