"Beautiful place, loud trains"
The nightly trains that rolled by every couple hours we really load and was very unexpected. Fixed the problem with ear plugs the next night. Nice location and overall great room and friendly staff.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Location, view, and observed wildlife 5 stars. Room quality good for price. Well maintained. Staff knowledgable. Gas and convenience store integrated. There is a very loud train occasionally in the wee hours. Strangely, you kind of get used to it.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Wonderful stay - we added an additional night!"
What a wonderful stay my boyfriend and I had here. The room was clean and very well taken care of. We stayed in one of the suites in the lodge and couldn't have asked for more. After long day hikes, you just want to relax in the evenings and we did just so. We soaked in the hot tub each night, grilled on their very large grills outside the lodge and […] relaxed on the couch of our suite in front of the fireplace. Couldn't have asked for more... The location for us was great, but in my opinion, it's important to note where you plan to go each day in comparison to Castle Mountain. We wanted to go to all four parks and the location was spot on. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
We loved our stay at Castle Mountain Chalets!!! My sisters and I stayed here with our Mom for three nights while celebrating her 90th birthday. We didn't want to stay right in Banff, so we were excited to find this place. It's between Banff and Lake Louise, so kind of tucked away in the country away from the busy-ness of Banff. The property is nicely […] maintained and our 2-bedroom cabin was comfortable and perfect for us. We enjoyed breakfasts and one dinner on our porch/deck (shopped at grocery in Banff). The scenery was unbelievably beautiful, with Castle Mountain seeming to rise almost right behind the property. I hope to return to the Canadian Rockies and would love to stay here again! "stunning cabin in the woods"
In the middle between lake Louise and Banff a quick 20 minute drive to either spot. Lots if trails and sites to see nearby but no restaurants etc within walking distance. We were blown away with the quality of the chalets and breathtaking views right from the front porch. Staff was very friendly and offered good advice on attractions. We will definitely […] be back! It was beautiful. The next time i would book a bigger room. The kitchen was very small. A lot of guests write about the train. We have heard it but for us it was ok. The personal at the reception was very friendly and helpful..Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Worst ever.. For a family"
Extremely compact. Inferior furniture. Extremely small bath. Seems like kids bath. No space for toiletteries. No space for bags. No privacy for patents staying with kids. Suffered with the mess all the time during my stay. Staff was not bad. Will nevervretirn to this place again neither suggest anyone else..just a terrible experience.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Beautiful hotel, mountainside, amazing view"
Outstanding customer service from all staff; friendly and accommodating. Comfortable rooms with beautiful views of mountains. Great dining options. Also, well maintained facilities such as indoor and outdoor pool, gym, sauna, steamroom. Would highly recommend.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Cute but in need of renovation"
We stayed in cabin #13 - I'm not sure if other cabins have been renovated but this one has not and is in much need based on the price charged. The bathroom sink is beyond tiny and comes up about mid thigh. Half of the cabin is sinking - I had a bath and most of the water was a one side (probably a 2-3 inch grade). There is not much for kids to do - […] fooseball table and a tiny hottub is all. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"A wonderful stay in a superb location"
We were delighted with the quality of the accommodation. There were so many features which indicated that the managers were prepared to put extra into the facilities. I cannot speak highly enough of the location,( which included a morning visit from a young elk!) The managers and staff were very helpful. One to recommend.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"A beautiful retreat"
We had a great stay at these beautiful little chalets. They aren't high end but offer a cozy and clean retreat in the mountains. I will definitely be going back.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We really enjoyed the atmosphere and facilities available. We felt that our small white Bichon was more than welcome. Great time hiking and seeing the beautiful scenery.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great location in Bow Valley"
08/13/14 Alan H Leicester, United Kingdom
We had six nights staying in the Castle Mountain Chalets. The location of the chalets is superb, being on the Bow Valley Parkway, approximately half way between Banff and Lake Louise (note that Google Maps takes you to the Banff Post Office, not the actual location!). The chalets are cute, well spaced out and well equipped. The resort also offers free use of the gas barbecues, free hot tub and free table football. The on-site shop is good and has long opening hours. Bow Valley Parkway gives an easy drive into Lake Louise or Banff with lots and lots of wildlife to be seen and not much traffic either. We woke to find an elk nonchalantly eating a bush right outside our window on the last day - a great photo opportunity which was not missed.
"Second trip; this time in summer."
Again, loved it. We even had a home invasion of sorts that was rather amusing. Woke up to a squirrel crawling across the curtain rod. While some guests may blanch at this, I need remind them that they are staying in a cabin in the mountains. I only shared the concern due to the presence of an infant in our room and was worried about disease. The staff expediently fixed the problem that day ( small hole had been gnawed through the window insulation) and that was that. Love the staff, the location and the view. My mother and sister went on a small hike and the front desk lass even loaned out a bear pepper spray to them when she heard they were going. Bear activity was apparently pretty high this year so far, and it was a nice gesture on her part to ensure their safety. We will stay here any time I visit Banff. I so prefer it to anything around the town. Wifi access is pretty poor in the cabins, but if you need that badly to stay in touch then get out of the mountains. It's a vacation, remember?
"Poor Customer Service"
07/23/14 wow1271 Edmonton, Canada
This establishment is the most unaccommodating when faced with a natural disaster. With a recent trip into Banff, I have to rate their customer service as poor. We have traveled to Banff numerous times in the previous years and this was the most frustrating trip in my 40 years of life. We had an uncle visiting from the UK and thought it would be nice to take him to the mountains for the weekend. We booked two nights at this Chalet. We decided to take him to the Columbia Icefield the following morning. No one is to blame for the forrest fire that would create havoc for all travelers. Highway back into Banff was closed that afternoon. Short story is we were unable to come back to the cabin and decided that with two little children and 2 seniors, it would be best to go home, so we headed back to Edmonton via Jasper. A nine hour drive that entire afternoon! We had asked if the cabin would pack up our stuff into a box and we would send family from Calgary to pick these up in the next couple of days. This would have been the simplest solution for all. The manager said she would prefer that we come back the next day to clean out our cabin. This would imply that we would need to find accommodation in Jasper for 6 people, drive 3 hours back to Banff to pack up our stuff and then another 4.5 hours back to Edmonton the following day? The manager refused to pack the little things we had and said the family member from Calgary would not be able to pick up our stuff. I understand that there are liability issues for the hotel but we had assured them that we will sign of on this. After numerous discussions with them, we were able to convinced them to send our stuff back to us on the Greyhounds. Bottom line, the forest fire was not something anyone can help but the hotel could have been more accommodating. We had to paid for the night that we did not get to stayed there, almost did not get our stuff back, and had to paid for the Greyhounds charges (very minimal charges) which they could have at least covered. This is the kind of customer service that could ruin any trip. On a positive note, the lady we spoke to initially was very accommodating and this is the kind of customer service we applaud. We do hope you did not get into too much trouble with management for misinforming us in the first place.
"Cabin in the woods"

Located a little further along the highway from Lake Louise than we had anticipated we were apprehensive about what we would find in the woods ..... needless to say these little chalets were exactly what we had hoped for ! We had a 2 bedroom family cabin and it was as rustic as well as gorgeous ! Comfy beds , excellent appliances , utensils , crockery in the well maintained kitchen made cooking a breeze . Tho it was a tad chilly ( -3!) to sit outside at the fire pit I loved the idea . We used the spa - which was crystal clean & a real treat after a day skiing . I also used the little gym ( I emphasize the word "little" - just a room really) but it had a cross trainer , weights , swiss ball etc & I was able to do a couple of workouts without freezing my lungs with outside air . The bathrooms & showers had some lovely quality soaps, shampoos etc & their green/recycling policy was excellent . Now , not blowing any antipodean trumpets - but the Auzzie guy who checked us in was absolutely outstanding - he really went the extra mile for us ; it was Easter , I had told my children no easter eggs/bunny etc as we were travelling - but upon check in here they gave us complimentary "easter goodie bags" for the kids - how thoughtful & generous is that ??!! They were jolly big bags filled with an assortment of tasty treats and we really appreciated this kind & unexpected gesture . Needless to say our stay was wonderful , my only comment would be about the "pet" thing - the dog next door was quite noisy (barking) which we weren't used to and the walls aren't very thick ...... I would definitely stay here again though . Oh , and the train noise that I had read so much about ....I heard it a couple of times ( you are staying on the main trunk line) but found it quite quaint .....
"Where can you see elks from your window?"
07/09/14 Nuria C Sant Pere de Ribes, Spain
Here, of course! In the middle of a forest, close to the train rail, yes, that pass every two hours making noise, but it is worth to stay here! Cabins are full of all you need and are very clean. Windows on the roof are good but if you need darkness to sleep, could be annoying! Barbecues on the garden to cook outside. Excellent place to stay quiet and perfect for small children and families.
"Wonderful Base Camp for Day Hikes and Visits"

We rented a small cabin in the Castle Mountain Chalets for 5 days in July. It was very cozy, comfortable, clean and well-maintained. Fresh coffee for the coffee maker and teas were replenished daily. Nice compact, functional kitchen with small fridge, stove and cooking/eating utensils. Eco-friendly soaps and toiletries. Quiet, even though we were close to the General Store and main roads. Wood stove with provided wood in the cabin for cooler times. Satellite TV and internet. (Internet was not always available- some big mountains and storms get in the way.) Hot tub looked inviting, although we didn't have time to try it out with our busy hiking and visiting schedule. Close to wonderful trails. Half way between the village of Banff and Lake Louise, just off the Trans-Canada HWY (1) and the Parkway. Plenty of wildlife. General Store sold gasoline, fresh sandwiches, snacks and basic camping items. Fire pit with wood provided. Grill and propane also available. Family friendly. Very nice bistro about 11 K toward Lake Louise on the Parkway. Recommended to us by friends from Calgary. Sure glad they did. We highly recommend it.

We just got back from a 3 night stay, and we will be back. Yes, trains go through and blow their horns, this happens throughout the valley. Did it wake us? Yes, but not enough to put a dark spot on our stay. The cabins are well equipped, everything you need to cook a meal, the store has everything you may have forgotten and there is plenty of wood to enjoy a fire. Enjoy the charm of these cabins in the mountains. My only complaint is there really is no internet, they say there is but you have to go to the central lodge to pick it up. I survived without.
"Snacks in bed!"

We stayed 2 nights at these quaint little cabins which were cozy and convenient with a little fridge, stove and even a wood stove already to fire up. The bed was very comfortable but we discovered popcorn between the sheets when we climbed into bed that night! ! When we told the manager in the morning she seemed as though we were lying to her and advised us that we may get an email for a discount on a future stay with them! We never did receive an email! Check the bed sheets on arrival so you can arrange to stay in a clean bed!

We had an excellent three night stay at the Castle Mountain Chalets from Wednesday April 30th to Saturday May 3rd. The scenery was awesome, the staff were very friendly, and the chalet itself (One bedroom deluxe) was very clean and comfortable. Many people on here complain about the train noise, it woke us up once the first night but after that we got used to it and it didn't bother us, it didn't even bother our dog. We would definitely stay here again!
"Love this place!!"

My husband and i have been coming to Castle Mtn two or three times per year since we discovered it fifteen+ years ago. We have stayed at numerous resorts and accomodation throughout the Rockies, and the guests we bring are always taken with the quality and value of the cabins here at Castle Mountain. The one bedroom log chalets are huge, the kitchen has everything you could possibly need for full meal preparation, and the fieldstone fireplaces adds a lot of rustic charm. Wood is brought daily as part of your room rate and it is dry and burns readily in the fireplace. The cabins are clean and well kept, we are not pet owners, but have had no sign or smell of animals in all the years that we have stayed there. The queen sized beds in the one bedroom cabin are super comfy, the hideabed, what can we say, its a hideabed...The location is a ways out of Louise and Banff, but either area is only a 15-20 minute drive. One can sit on their front porch and barely hear the Trans Canada highway about a mile away and just admire the views of the surronding peaks. In the winter, there are a number of cross country ski trails that start right from the parking lot, and the front desk now rents snowshoes that you can take for a few hours or for a day. The recent addition of a 6-8 person hot tub on the premise is welcome, we no longer have to go to Banff or Radium to soak. Yes, some people complain about the train noise at night, but this is the real reason we come here... My husband is a train spotter and relishes the fact the crews blow their horn at the whistle post at the nearby crossing gates. For train lovers, this place is nirvana!
