The rooms are a little used looking, ie the carpet in our condo had spots and needed cleaning. But we enjoyed the heated pool and the walk on the beach greatly. The view from our room was great of the pool and sunsets over the bay. The central air conditioning was nice to have. People we met were very nice and friendly. Enjoyed our stay.

Our unit was owned by an efficiency expert and it showed in so many detail. I paticularly loved the spices and condiments in this well stocked kitchen. We had a view of the pool and Kihei bay. For a large complex, we never felt the crush of people. A beautiful peaceful place with miles of beach.

Stayed in 132 - clean, very well equipped, and comfortable. Beach was right out the patio door, wonderful wave sounds. "Sandwitch" shop on property was delightful - try the homemade pizza or Reuben which were both great and reasonably priced. This was a great place to stay. The unit we stayed in #115 was clean and comfortable. Well stocked with supplies and clean linens. The only challenge was the location. While quiet and fabulous proximity to the beach, it was a little further out of town than ideal. However I would likely return and will recommend to friends.

The price was affordable. Room was clean. Definitely having laundry was great for kids. We had neighbors but had no idea they were there unless we passed them outside. In the middle of the island, so it was very convenient to drive to any beach or tourist attraction.

I have stayed here before and it was fine. This particular condo was awful. It had one skillet and it was 5" big. No scissors, potholders, cutting board, or anything usable to carry meat to the bbQ. The matress just sank. The doorways needed to ne swept/washed. The whole place needed paint. I was shocked and disappointed. The missing items were deloivered […] but my request to move was denied. Ocean front room with excellent view. But we found a 1/2" cockroach at kitchen at first night. Then, another 1" cockroach (big one) in bed room at second night. My wife had nightmare at the night. I reported the manger. Her response was they do pest control every 3 months with no apology.... No good memory

Sugar Beach Resort is located on the ocean but away from the hustle and bustle of Lahaina or Wailea. We liked the quiet of the property and since we had a rental car it was no issue getting around. The condo we rented came equipped with enough for us to get by cooking and eating wise. It would have been nice to have come beach chairs to use but oh well. […] We would recommended this property. We stayed at this place during 2nd part of our trip. This resort is kind of a condo and resort place with a massage & food joint place attached. Nice pool and Nice view of the beach. You will like if you are looking for a calm and not much happening beach. It is very near to harbor where you get to lot of activities like snorkel, whale watch, fishing […] or any other adventure sports. Parking is free and food places and shopping places are only couple of miles away if you like to go for shopping. A good location overall, great views from our 6th floor unit. Condo has not been undated in some time though the furnishings are decent. The condo was clean, the fellow residents/vactioners were polite, the pool was clean and all in all we had a great time. The beach outside the condo was nice for long walks and a little bit of water fun, but not a real swimmign beach. It was quiet and not developed which we enjoyed. SBR seems more geared toward retirees and people traveling without […] kids. They have rules about pool use, like no toys in the pool, which were difficult to explain to our young kids. We had four families (sisters) go at the same time. We had a great time! The room was great. The view was fantastic. We even got fairly close to each other which was convenient. Upon arrival we were greating with drilling and loud bangs from the construction. All during our stay we could hear what the people in other rooms were doing. On 2 of the mornings at around 5 am hawaiian time we were woke up from the loud noises in the neighboring rooms.

We loved Maui!! It was for our honeymoon and the first visit to Maui for us. Sugar Beach Resort was a nice place to stay...Unit was clean and comfortable, even the bed. The unit itself was a little older but had updated decor. The unit had pretty much all the cooking stuff needed, we just purchased our own food and drinks. The view from our lanai was […] awesome. From the looks of it you have a good view from any of the units, even if you are not ocean front. The beach was nice even though it wasn't very big. I was disappointed in the water...it was not all the pretty blue, green colors that I thought it would be. Sugar Beach / Kihei seemed to be a little more low key than some of the other areas and if you do not mind driving to go to the nicer beaches and prettier water than it is a good place to stay. The driving didn't bother us...the beach and water was the disappointment but we found nice beaches elsewhere. The wind was quite annoying at times also...it seemed like from around 3:00 pm to 9 or 10pm it was very windy at Sugar Beach. I feel like for what we paid we got a good deal...I would not have a problem staying there again but I think if we go back to Maui we would stay at another part of the island so I can have the pretty water all the time! We stayed at Sugar Beach on the recommendation of a friend. Other than taking one wrong turn on the way in (you have to go straight toward Lahaina instead of turning south on S.Keihe, then turn into the drive just past the big Sugar Beach sign), we had no problems at all. We were in PH19, and it was great! Beautiful view of the beach only a hundred […] feet away. Well-stocked room, all the comforts of home, plus palm trees. The activity director was very helpful. Very friendly staff. Appreciated the convenience of the little general store nearby. Be sure to try the Hawaiian Ice! Check out the small fruit stand immediately to the west. Convenient location for trips to Kahului (plan to catch a baseball game if the Maui team is in town), Lahaina, and Haleakala NP. Nice new boardwalk along the beach, part of Kealia NWR. Sugar Beach was fabulous! We had a bottom floor out to the beach and it was beautiful! Our condo was clean and well maintained. The Condo community was friendly and quiet. My 2 year old son loved running and being able to go our side and play in the grass. Being at Sugar Beach was great for our son. It is wonderful to wake up each morning listening to the sound of the waves and have a morning cup of coffee on the lanai with our gorgeous beach front view. We've always stayed in Kaanapali so I wasn't quite sure what to expect in Kihei - I'd always heard it was the budget family friendly area and I had equated that to low expectations. We decided to stay there because our friends had a timeshare in Kihei and told us it was their favorite area in Maui. We decided we'd find a decent place and spend our holiday […] dollars on fun activities. Sugar Beach Resort is very clean and well maintained. Our condo was on the 3rd floor and had an EXPANSIVE ocean front setting. It had been recently remodeled and the owners did an outstanding job. Overhead fans in the living room and bedroom worked (and they were quitet) so we didn't even need the AC although we tried it just to make sure it worked. The sound and sights of the pounding waves was so beautiful. The pool was always clean and the temperature was just right even in the evenings. We were surprised by the number of BBQ grills available - nice setting and very clean too. Lots of books for summer reading were available as were folding chairs, bamboo mats, picnic coolers, boogie boards. I'm very picky, so believe me when I say that the value of the stay against the price we paid was phenomenal. And yes, plenty of dollars left to do lots of activities. Read more

Overall the stay was great, We thought we had paid higher rate for a renovated room by the pictures that were advertised on hotels.com. When we checked in it was the unrenovated room they had advertised at a cheaper price. We were disapointed but when we contacte Maui home and condo they showed us a room that had a few updates and offered us to switch. […] The view was better from the original room and we already moved in so we didnt switch.The room was fairly clean but definetly worn out and could have used a carpet wash or tile through out.
