"FYI: it's really a women's college club"
I relied on the hotels.com description, and should have googled the hotel first. The College Club of Boston is an old women College Club. Technically it is open to both genders, but as a guy in my early 30s in town for business I was not fully comfortable in this place. I feel like kept getting looks from some guests. Minor annoyances: The man at the […] reception was not interested in talking to me or providing me advice (barely removed his headphones to talk to me), there was no iron/board in my room (I had to go to the staff laundry room), the breakfast was dissapointing for a B&B, the rooms are beautiful for the style but my window A/C unit was really loud and worked intermittently. On the plus side, the internet was fast, the place had its charms, and the location was perfect. Yet, I don't think I'd rebook this place if I were in the same situation. Lots of charm in my historical room, large and nice bathroom. Very peaceful. Nice neighborhood. Really a pleasing, different hotel experience, I'll go back to that same place in my next Boston trip.Genuine Expedia guest review

I loved the location of the College Club which was a lovely walk from the Hynes Conference Center. The main drawback was the lack of an en suite toilet and shower. The staff members were all very helpful and friendly. I would stay there again but opt for a room with en suite toilet and shower.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Hoterl in Boston"
very good location, good hotel if travel without children. Front desk hours until 5 or 6 pm, better to check in earlier or call hotel in advance to enter in code or you will have to wait for someone to buzz you in. I would stay there again good price and location.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Charming"
This B&B is absolutely charming. The staff is very friendly and accommodating, and the rooms and common areas are filled with period furniture with character. Great for those who appreciate this kind of stuff and being in what I think is the most beautiful neighborhood and street in Boston.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"College Club"
Nice B&B, great location about a block from Boston Commons, Cheers, and a 10 minute walk to Chinatown. But, would have liked to have a TV in the room and a hot breakfast, sinjcethey have a full service kitchen.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"the College Club of Boston- full of atmosphere"
Our room was very large and quiet with fire place and bookcases and had a comfortable bed and pillows .It overlooked the large trees with fairy lights that ran the length of the street .Don't expect slick and modern, but warm and cozy with loads of atmosphere .With the lovely shops of Newbury street around the corner and the park and train station a […] 5 minute walk down the beautiful wide street we found the location to be great. The staff were friendly and helped us with any questions we had.We would happily stay here again. We would definitely stay here again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Ok to stay for location."
The B&B is cute but the price didn't justify the services offered. Breakfast is very standard, which at a B&B we would have expected something a little more out of the ordinary. It is ok if you would like to be in a good location, but I probably wouldn't book there again. You might like it for what it is, our standards might just be a little high coming […] from a hospitality background and knowing what to expect. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Loved it"
I was delighted to stay at the College Club. I wish I had more than 1 night! There are 11 rooms in this row house, each designed by a different local designer in honor of historical colleges in the area. It had a wonderful homey, old fashioned atmosphere. This is a place for people looking for charm.Genuine Expedia guest review
"The College Club of Boston"
The hotel was great - like a B&B. Small without a lot of services (no fitness center), but everything that you need. Our only issue was the day our room was not cleaned, but since we do not change our bedding at home every day it was not a big issue just a surprise.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"The College Club of Boston"
My daughter and I stayed 2 nights while visiting local Boston colleges. We had a double room with an in suite bathroom. The room and bathroom were very large and comfortable. Quite pretty and homey. Breakfast was included. No T.V which was fine because we were busy- but there was free internet service. Parking was a hassle. Location was great! Price […] was very good. "Beautiful place, beautiful neighborhood"
My room was very clean and comfortable. The CCB has been mostly renovated, and there's a nice coffeemaker in the dining area where you can get espresso, mocha, or regular coffee whenever you want. My room was pretty big, at least twice as large as the room I had at Irving House. However, the breakfast was mediocre. The neighborhood is beautiful, and […] the hotel is very close to the Arlington station, from where you could go practically anywhere with the metro. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"College Club is solid choice"
I stayed here for one night before meetings the next day in Cambridge. Central location was obvious and one reason I chose it, after price, but was very impressed with service. The staff called me before arriving to share the pass code to enter the building. The complimentary tea, coffee, and cookies was very nice in the evening. "Great location/value"
no t.v.'s in the room but i wasn't there to watch t.v. there was free in room wi-fi to stay in touch and a free continental breakfast downstairs (with a t.v. if you had to watch something). 1 block to Boston Public Garden, 1 block to shopping on Newbury Street.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"The College Club- now my first choice in Boston"
I had a few job interviews in Boston and as a student, I needed somewhere affordable that was near to the city center. The location was perfect and it was inexpensive, especially for the quality of service I received. Since I was arriving late at night, I called ahead and got the door code. My key was waiting for me. There was an excellent choice of […] cookies, coffees and yummy hot apple cider in the dining room. The room was very comfortable and the shared bathroom was beautiful. The staff was also very friendly! They held my bags, after I checked out, so I could explore the city a bit. Also, they printed off my bus ticket, as I had forgotten to before. "Great Location"
This is more a bed and breakfast culture as opposed to a hotel. I loved the location which was close to Boston Common and excellent shopping. There is no TV in the room, but there is Internet access and I had downloaded a movie to watch in the evening. Guests should know that they will access the hotel with a security code. This worked fine for me since […] I had an early check in. The hotel is very quiet and has wonderful character. I enjoyed the experience. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Comfortable Stay"
I couldn't of found a perfect location. My room was small but comfortable. It was decorated nicely; a little on the frilly side, made it feel more like a visit to Grandma's. "College Club Boston - Well located, poor service"
Hotel is very well located, close to Public Garden, Biston Commons, Newburry street and metro. By the other hand, service is really rude and at my bed was not god. In average, location pays the price of service.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"great find in Boston"
The College Club was the only hotel in central Boston with a room available when we booked rather late for Labor Day weekend. To our surprise it was clean, the room extra large and airy, with a distinct New England atmosphere, the king-size bed very comfortable, reception a bit casual but efficient, breakfast (included in the price) adequate. Once the […] code to enter after hours was sorted out after a quick phone call, we found the hotel to be just what we wanted, with easy access on foot to restaurants and cafes, shops, Boston Common, Beacon Hill. We would return there any time. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great location, very affordable option"
I was looking for an affordable room in a good neighborhood and stumbled on this very quaint, comfy bed and breakfast right down the street from the Public Gardens! "Beautiful yet old"
This mansion is absolutely gorgeous. There are antiques everywhere and beautiful wooden floors, tapestries, old chairs, clean beautiful bathrooms. I didn't know what to expect when I arrived but was pleasantly surprised once I realized the experience I would have. "Convenient & Charming Place to Stay"
The location was in a great neighborhood within walking distance of Boston Common, good restaurants, and more. The place itself had a lot of charm, with period furnishings. My room was extremely large - bigger than my living room at home. The bed was a little hard but I slept fine. No tv but that was fine with me. "Right on Boston Common"
It was my first time in Boston and I was flying in from Las Vegas. Enormous shock from Vegas to Boston size hotel rooms – from a loud to an extremely quite environment. This actually had a positive effect - helped me relax even though I was there on business. I found the hotel to be quite nice, very peaceful, the room was adequate and the staff was […] helpful. I was a little concerned about sharing bath, but it actually was not a problem at all. I got plenty of good sleep at night, had a nice shower in the morning and enjoyed the complementary breakfast before going to work. Couple of tips for those who plan to visit Boston to stay at The College Club of Boston, it’s a perfect location to visit this city. There are plenty of nice places to get something to eat on Newbury St. I’m more of a pub guy, I found a nice place to hang out with the locals, get a great pizza and enjoy a pint of Sam Adam’s at Whisky’s - corner of Gloucester & Boylston St. Renting a car – parking can be an issue! The only place close to the hotel to park is Boston Common parking a little expensive but convenient. Don’t leave the car on the street at night even if it’s free- you’ll still manage to get a ticket! And if you 2 hour park somewhere don’t be late because parking inspectors in Boston come out of under the rocks just 1 min after your time is up! Overall had a great experience in Boston – if you don’t want to spend a lot of money on hotel and are ok with simple acommodation you’ll enjoy staying at this property. "Beautiful, historical property, in unbeatable location"
I loved my stay here. It's not really a hotel, and not really a B&B -- it's a serene, beautiful old house in a great neighborhood, where you can rent a spacious, antiques-furnished room and get an authentic taste of how the upper-crust lived in 19th-century Boston. It's clearly not for everyone, but if fitness rooms, lobby bars, chocolates on the pillow, […] etc. aren't important to you, I'd give it a try. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Unfriendly Service"
I asked if I could leave my bag so I could explore the city the next day (the day I was checking out) and the office manager sternly said NO, go ask another hotel in Boston.. end of discussion. I went around asking other hotels if I could temporarily place my bags with them (and I would be happy to pay $$ for them to hold it) but they only allow that […] for their own hotel guests. So, I walked around Boston with all of my bags, since the College Club of Boston was inconsiderate. I felt just like a single day of revenue rather than a person or guest with them. Secondly, there is NO television in this B&B except a small 19 inch in the dining room. Though this place is cheap and in a good location, it provides poor service, no television and is not flexible!!!!.. I am disappointed with the management here.... I would tell anyone that wants to have a hotel or bed & breakfast to work with them to avoid this place. Spend $10 more and go to a hotel that provides considerate service. "Suprises at the City Club of Boston"
The City Club of Boston is located in a mdi-block Italianate style townhouse on Commonwealth Avenue, the most prestigious aveneu in Back Bay of Boston. The building has seen better days and, as they say, has the patina of age, including peeling paint in the small interior lightwell in the center of the house. Beware that the B&B manager leaves at 6:30 […] p.m. and leaves your key in an envleope on the front table which, of course, is inaccessible because of the locked front door should you perchance arrive after 6:30. Beware also that the continental breakfast does not commence until 7:45 a.m. which, if you must be up and about before then, leaves you withou breakfast. Also, there were no cookies in the evening when I arrived. My room was the smallest in the house on the top floor facing the alley. Its location, fortunately, was quieter than the better rooms facing the avenue. Although it was small, it was relatively clean. Unfortunately, the window shutters were rendered inoperable because of a modern draper rod. The result was morning light coming through the translucent blinds, which is not conducive to prolonged slumber. The bed was twin-sized, which posed a challenge as I am 6'-4" tall. The hall bathroom was nicely renovated and was clean, with a curious casement window opening into a rather seedy lightwell. The bathroom was clean with an excellent shower having a showerhead high in the wall, providing an excellent flow of water over my head. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Great location, great room, great value"
Pros: Room was Huge and nice (especially if you like old school design and individualized rooms), location was to die for, hassle was minimal and there was even a Wagner Society concert on Saturday evening that provided a nice background sound while we were getting ready for a night out. Cons: Elevator is small and old, free breakfast is somewhat limited […] (if you want something hot, it will need to fit in their toaster) and checkout is 11am. No free tix to the concert either, I wish I could have seen the social area. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
