Enjoyed the hotel very much. The kids love the pool and the lobby and I was happy with the breakfast selection. And the conscience of the airport shuttle was great!! Thanks for a great stay!Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Rm 413 doesnt have a closet"
Usually a big Marriott fan, but not this time. Checked into a room (413) and it didnt have a closet. Management said that handicap accessible rooms may or may not have closets. I replied that (even though I am not physically challenged) that those people should have a place to hang their clothes too. Hotel right near interstate and the neighborhood […] is poor and honestly scary. I will not stay here again Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Service needs to improve"
Front desk personnel should be more attentive to guest request. Ask for room number 4 times duting check in for wifi usage and totally ignored me. That was really annoying. Then I called for cork screw and i was told to walk to the next hotel since they will surely have one.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Short drive to Galveston"
This hotel met and exceeded out expectations. Wonderful service from the front desk staff and they even had a shuttle that would ferry you to local restaurants. Our room was clean and comfortable. The continental breakfast was simple, but delicious.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

They do a nice job here making you feel like you are getting good value for what you are paying. The place was in great shape and the staff went out of their way to be friendly. The expercise room equipment was in good shape and working order. Nice job Marriott!
"Good Customer Service But Noisy"

My family and I stayed at this hotel December 29-30, 2014. The hotel website says it's "new" although other sites say it used to be something else. We had reserved a room with 2 queen beds. However, when we checked in at 2:45pm (check in is at 3pm) there were no queen rooms available. The gentleman behind the counter upgraded our room to a king suite for no extra charge. The room was nice and the bed was comfortable. The pull out sofa is what my boys slept on and they didn't have any complaints about that. The room had 2 TV's, a microwave, a mini-fridge, and plenty of room for the 4 of us. We also requested a late check out and they were very accommodating and let us do that as well. I have no complaints about the staff at the hotel or the accommodations...the only drawback to this hotel is that it is not well insulated from outside noises. It's right off the highway and near the airport. While the airplane noise wasn't too bad....the noise from traffic on the highway was a bit unbearable. You don't really notice it during the day...but at night when everything is quiet and you're trying to sleep.....ug. There was NEVER a lull in the traffic either! I kept wondering where all the people were going at 2am, 3am, 4am...it was just nonstop road noise all night long. I would just suggest packing some earplugs if you stay at this hotel. That is the only thing I would caution visitors about this hotel. Otherwise it is a lovely place with lovely staff.

Beds are like heaven. I have a bad back and really struggle normally on hotel beds. These beds are great. The service is excellent. We have 3 kids and they upgraded us to a larger room with a king, pull out couch and a roll away bed at no extra fee. Breakfast is also very good for the price paid.
"Actually a Fairfield Inn and Suites..."

This is a fine hotel, just in a sketchy area. Staff was friendly and rooms were nice, comfortable beds, and standard breakfast, just not lcoated in the best area. This shows as a Holiday Inn Express, but was a Fairfield Inn and Suites when I styaed here a few nights ago...

I stayed here for a week during fall break. It was in a good location as far as being centrally located to all the activities I wanted to do. Not a particularry good area, though. You could definately tell when the different houskeeping ladies were working. One did as little as possible, not changing the sheets, not leaving water, not leaving new bath products. The other made sure that everything you had used was replaced each day. The workout room was small and they didn't keep it stocked with towels. I asked the front desk for an extra blanket a little before 4. When my husband came back at 6:30, he stopped to ask the front desk again. About 15 minutes later the blanket finally arrived. The noise level was not terible considering that planes were taking off and landing all day and night. The room was extremely humid. They did redo the pool area right before I arrived, so it was nice. All in all it was an average stay at an average hotel.
Pulled out the sofa bed for my child and as I was pulling out the blankets noticed there was dried food on the blankets. Brought them to the front desk and the manager shrugged his shoulders. Didn't even apologize. Pulled back the blanket in my bed and there were food spots on the blankets. I pulled them off and brought to the manager and not a word. If the food in the bed wasn't enough the toilet has significantly defined dirt rings either from the water or just poor maintenance. The bill with taxes was $179 because we stayed in a newly rennovated suite. By newly rennovated you will find the room with a galley feel. They took down the dividing wall and so literally the tv for the sofa area and the "bedroom" is six feet away, very odd and pointless to even have two televisions. Where they removed the wall they glued carpet in the spot and also glued the sheet-rock dust so there are defined white lines around all the carpet patches throughout the room. I travel about six times a month for my job. This place is an embarrassment to the Holiday Inn chain. Go stay at a Hyatt Place hotel for cheaper and consistent quality. There is a Four-Points motel right next door if you need to stay in a hotel near the airport like we needed to. Not sure the quality but all you can go is up from this place.
"Room was like a wet gym sock"
03/30/14 Justin G
The room smelled like an old gym sock & the humidity was awful. I would have liked to change rooms, but they were all booked up. I was not happy with the room at all. Internet was free but didn't work that well. Slow and kept kicking my VPN offline. The hotel is right on the highway, so the highway noise is pretty loud. I'll scratch this hotel off my list for next visit to HOU.
"Avoid for at least the next two months"

We were two families with reservations for this hotel for just one night. Upon reading the recent unflattering (to say the least) reviews in TripAdvisor we looked for other places to rebook at the last moment, but due to busy events in town, nothing really practical surfaced. Besides, we thought, it was only for one night. Plus, we always get at least above average service from Holiday Inn Express anywhere in the country wherever we stay (it's our favorite brand for overnight stays). Surely it couldn't be that bad! The first family arrived earlier than us and were checked into the Holiday Inn Express. Their experience was similar to recent postings here - noisy, dirty, not up to standards, a remarkable disappointment for a Holiday Inn Express. As you scan other reviews, note that the management replies to other disappointed posters that they should come back in a few months and it'll be a new property. If you have this hotel booked in the next two months, you might take their comment seriously (i.e. we should've expanded our search to find somewhere else regardless). Really - read how management has replied to others and listen to what they're saying. If you've had experiences like we've had with Holiday Inn Express before, this isn't what you'll get here. Our family was lucky - the Holiday Inn Express was full, so we were upgraded for free to the Starwood next door (a nice, quiet, well done property). We were told this is owned by the same company. That upgrade was a nice touch by the management. We were also told to come back to the Holiday Inn Express for our breakfast in the morning since we'd paid to have that included. So, our other meaningful exposure to the Holiday Inn Express was breakfast. How hard could be? Both families met there to have breakfast together. In several years of staying at Holiday Inn Expresses across the U.S., this set a new low that we hope will never be beat. We arrived over 30 minutes before it closed. No coffee. Practically zero food left (seriously). And, it was a mess. We paid to take our counterparts out to breakfast at a local restaurant to make up for where they'd had to stay (we had to get breakfast somewhere and there sure wasn't any there!). Our bottom line: maybe in two months this property will be ok, maybe it won't. Regardless, between now and the summer of 2014 at least, I'd go out of my way to stay almost anywhere else instead.

Purchase on a discounted site as a 3 star hotel. This hotel is a 2 or 1 star hotel. The hotel smelled, the elevators were nasty and room was not comfortable. The hotel sits on top of the freeway with no insulation to help with the road noise. The heat and air unit is a dinosaur that does not work. The beds had very thin mattresses and were not very clean in appearance.

Unfortunately I along with 4 others were forced to stay here because all, other rooms around the airport were sold out. There was food left on the walls, stains and holes in lamp shades. The fresh coat of paint didn't hide the flaws. You could feel the springs through the mattress. I have tried contacting the manger he hasn't returned my phone call. I have sent an e-mail to customer service and all I got back was an e-mail saying they would let the manager know. I will be calling this afternoon again once i get off of work. Not only was it terrible, they charged us way too much. If I don't get a better answer today I will not stay with Holiday Inn again. We were only there for 5 hours didn't have breakfast or do anything. We were stranded at the airport.
