The Hotel is in a great location, nice lobby/ restaurant/ bar on 1st floor and roof top pool/ bar that is great. Guest rooms are nicely appointed, however THE ODD NUMBERED ROOMS ARE DUNGEONS, they look into a brick wall that is 4' away. No natural light.

LOved everything about the property: location is excellent; roof top bar & view--even amid some raindrops onn night was sensational. Loved the continental breakfast presentation on each floor as if it was near butler-like hospitality--just a nice touch. My only complaint was a bathroom sink stopper issue that was not picked up on bythe housekeeper either day she cleaned the bathroom. Abosolutely will stay there again.

We thought the Market Pavilion was exceptionally comfortable, welcoming, and convenient. It was a perfect place to stay and enjoy an incredible city. So many small touches made us feel pampered. We truly enjoyed the rooftop pool and the views of the city it afforded. When we return to Charleston, and we hope we will, because two days weren't enough, we will stay at the Market Pavilion, no question.

Entering the hotel lobby was breath taking, lots of wood and brass. Grill 225 restaurant next to bar as u enter. White glove service. Paid extra for 4th floor that included free breakfast and great cocktail hour. This was worth the extra cost. Roof top bar & pool very nice. Just watch your heels on the tiled floor, a little uneven :) Luxury at it's finest. Rated one of the best Hotels in the world.

We stayed here after a week on kiawah island and I was none too happy to "have a day in charleston". When we arrived, I realized I could have used a few extra days. The hotel is not overdone and not by any means understated, it's really just right. It's comfortable, clean, rooms were big enough and my children swam at the rooftop pool all day while we sat by the pool and read. That being said, this is not a hotel you want to bring children in tow. The staff was very kind to them, but they were the only children I saw during my stay. They are 7 and 8 and I don't know if they would have appreciated them there on a busier day. There is no children's menu at the hotel (two restaurants and room service). Again, the hotel staff was over the top kind to them.

The service was top notch and the location was perfect. Expensive food and drinks but definitely quality. I would absolutely stay here again and recommend it to friends. Dont miss the roof top bar with a great view of the city and the Cooper bridge.

We have stayed in several 4 & 5 star hotels in our travels but Market Pavilion is the top one on our list. The staff is always attentive and bends over backward to make sure you have whatever you need. It was a wonderful experience and we will definitely be back. The Concierge level is an experience in itself. Always some type of snacks available as well as drinks at anytime. The staff is outstanding as well. I would strongly recommend this hotel to everybody.

I have had the good fortune of staying at some of the finest hotels in the city (Charleston Place, Wentworth Mansion, French Quarter, etc) but the Market Pavilion Hotel just falls flat. The room prices are comparable but Market Pavilion falls short on several things: $20/night valet parking where it is free elsewhere, lackluster continental bkfst (cold coffee, cold "hot" water for tea, cold pastries that disappear quickly and are not replenished) whereas elsewhere you find made-to-order or superior free bkfsts. There is no free wine or appetizers offered as in other hotels. The lobby in the Market Pavilion is non-existent - no place to sit unless in the bar or the restaurant. There are only a few chairs directly in front of the check in counter. Awkward. It makes the hotel feel cold and uninviting. There is a roof top pool but it is very small and situated in the middle of the bar area so you have people dressed and drinking right next to people in swimsuits. Odd vibe. I was never approached by any staff or concierge to ask if they could make my trip any better or offer to arrange dinner reservations. The bathroom smelled and had mildew in the grout. I think the pipes must be making an odor that cannot be cleaned out because the room was otherwise very clean. The hotel room door shook every time the A/C kicked on. My rooms view was the valet parking lot. :-( The bar was into modern "nitro" drinks. Too kitschy, not classy. Just overrated and disappointing.

Stayed here for 3 nights. Although this is a large hotel, I still felt the staff could have been, despite their efforts to smile, more personal in their well-executed professional roles. This make it difficult to feel at home here. In addition, the heavy mahogany wainscoting and furniture and dark-colored floral draperies, made the décor of this hotel seem straight out of another era. The pastries and coffee set at the end of our hotel floor as breakfast meant we had to eat in our room, which I did not like at all. Couldn't they set aside a little place where we could have breakfast with the other hotel patrons so we didn't feel that this was just a place to park our suitcases and sleep? To be fair, however, the $25 per room bar and restaurant coupon that they gave out for each night of the stay was a nice incentive to try the rooftop bar and the lobby restaurant, even if we did end up spending more in those places (the intention, I am sure.) .

Wonderful location with great views and in the center of so many wonderful things. Service is wonderful. Breakfast on the floor so you can slip out in your robe to get wonderful pastries, fruit and coffee. Beautiful rooftop bar and pool area is perfect for late afternoon/early evening crash after a busy day. Loved it.

Overpriced for the size and furnishings in the room, but the location cannot be beat for the historic area of Charleston. At the price, I was surprised to find only one comfortable chair and one desk chair in the room, making it a little less comfortable than I would have liked. The bed was great, and the bathroom was quite nice. The rooftop bar was good with heaters conveniently located since the evenings were chilly. Service was excellent and I have no complaints about the staff.

my wife and I stayed at the hotel recently. We arrived early and the room was not ready. The valet parked the car and took care of the luggage. The hotel called us when the room was ready, this was a great touch. Unfortunately that same evening I became very sick and an ambulance had to be called. The hotel staff were great, acted swiftly and proffessionally. We ahd to spend the next day in the hotel room. They could not have been more helpfull. We will retry our vist to Charleston this summer and will definately stay in this hotel.

This hotel is very nice within walking distance to dining and across the street from the open market. My complaint with this hotel has to do with the valet service. My car was parked by a valet and when we got our car from the valet to leave the hotel, the passenger door of my car was scraped down to the metal. It is only parked by the valet and taken out of the garage by the valet so I am certain this was done by one of them. Of course, he opened the door for me so I didn't see it until we stopped down the road for gas. Very shady not to let someone know you damaged their car!

I booked here partly to take advantage of the $25 food coupon. But when I arrived I found out you have to use it on the day you check in only, and they don't serve any breakfast in the restaurant. They offer pastry and coffee on each floor, which is kind of limited, compared to how luxurious this hotel is.

This hotel is fabulous and the staff is superb!! Everyone was so helpful and friendly, and the hotel itself is beautiful. Our room was lovely and extremely clean! Hot coffee and the most wonderful pastries are placed on each floor in the morning, so you don't even have to go downstairs for breakfast!! The location is excellent (right at the Market) and literally steps away from every kind of dining and shopping possible. We loved it here and plan to return!!

Market Pavillion is a first class hotel. The staff was friendly and extremely attentive. We stayed on the concierge level and were impressed with the level of service provided. A full breakfast and afternoon tea were a real delight. Market Pavillion is very conveniently located to the shops on market street, the carriage tours, King street shopping and many of Charleston's better restaurants.

We got a super great rate from Hotels.com. We had a fantastic experience from the valet entrance to the time we left. When we arrived and they gave us a $25 voucher for food or drinks. We used it after a cold night out. We ordered two hot teas and a shot of Lagavulin whisky before bed. Will always stay at this hotel.

Great hotel, but avoid the bar on the roof. It's a great spot to see the city, but the drinks are awful and the staff is surly. I first ordered a whiskey sour and could barely taste any whiskey. Disappointed with the lack of alcohol in my drink, I proceeded to order a double of Jack, neat. My "neat" jack was filled to the brim with ice and topped with a lime. Either the bartender on staff that night was ignorant, or it's the bar's policy to serve as little alcohol as possible. I considered sending it back, but opted to avoid conflict with a bartender who obviously wanted to be somewhere else.

Hotel was amazing - i did however not initially get the treatment at the front desk i thought i should have. Expeida or I made a mistake on the night of arrival - they had charged me for the nights stay the evening prior to my acuall arrival - hotel had plenty of rooms - why not just agree to switch the night - Clearly they had not incurred additional expenses nor were tehy anywhere near booked - but i had to go through American Express and Expedia to resolve when the front desk could have made it far easier. Result worked out but after some anxious moments and frustration. Hotel is fabulous - just common sense needs to be allowed for the staff to use their discretion

As would be expected of a top hotel, everything was incredible! Kelly, the concierge was terrific! Grill 225 was outstanding. Only disappointment was average hotel mattresses (at least that's how they felt). Expected at least a pillow top mattress. Other than that my wife and I enjoyed the oasis that our hotel served as. Highly recommend!

We could not have been more pleased! The rooms were larger than appeared in the photos on the hotel website and the service was impeccable. Our favorite feature was the rooftop bar/pool- so much fun but also laid-back enough that we felt comfortable. The breakfast was very convieniant and the pastries were delicious but we would have loved a little more variety. The location was ideal.

Very nice hotel, great location, good restaurants and big rooms... However, I was very disappointed with the pool. It's very small and is located in the middle of the roof top bar. With people literally eating all around, I never saw anyone actually get in the pool... This was disappointing as it is one of the reasons we chose this hotel. Also, parking is $20 a day, so be prepared.
