"Right in the centre"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Apr 27, 2012
Right in the centre of San Gimignano. Clean hotel with good rooms. Beds comfortable and not hard as most European beds are. Friendly helpful staff and good breakfast. Access to hotel is available although you need to ask and do ask about parking, hotel staff saved us a fortune with their advice.
"A good affordable hotel"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Apr 26, 2012
Comfortable beds, clean rooms, friendly staff, tasty breakfasts. No restaurant but the pizzaria next door does good pizza. The hotel is near a main road and it can get a bit noisy early in the morning when the lorries start going past.
"Beautiful Views!"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Apr 18, 2012
This vacation home is a little bit off the beaten path, but is a great base for exploring Tuscany. The pool is very nice (although we did not get to use it because it was too cold). As long as you do not mind driving a few kms on a gravel/dirt road this is a great place to stay.

Tuscany’s most distinctive and enticing provincial capital, Siena appears to be frozen in time. The glorious medieval core remains a itrecento/i masterpiece, cascading down three hills from the fan-shaped Piazza del Campo. Highlights include the Palazzo Publico (town hall) and the stripy Duomo with its marble floors. The thrilling Palio horserace takes place twice a year in July and August, and has to be seen once in a lifetime.

Very nice 3* hotel with charming staff and very nice rooms with clean and modern bathroom. Large breakfast yoo Hotel is around 15-20 min walk to main square but a very nice walk and for the price it's a perfect hotel for a few nights. Would definitely recommend
"Hotel Italia, Sienna"
This hotel is close to one if the gates into the old part of the city.We could not have been made more welcome by the staff and the breakfast buffet was superb.
"Convience & Comfort"
Great location. Great staff. Great breakfast. The only flaw I can think of is the absence of a shower screen on the bathtub. The hotel is on the right side when you exit from the train station at the top of the hill. To get there, one have to use a few escalators and travellators. The hotel is located about 70 metres away at a junction with traffic […] lights. The staff speaks English and are always helpful. The hotel provides a complete breakfast. Read more

"Nice hotel with paid wi-fi"
Nice and clean room with great breakfast and helpful staff. Just to remember, the parking and the wi-fi is not free, although i could park the street ina a street near to the hotel. Wi-fi should be free.
"Alitalia in Siena"
Great location ... Just down the street from the rail station. Note: once you get off the train take all the escalators to the top and make a right. Just outside the old city... Everything is close no car is needed (or helpful)
"Great choice"
A very nice hotel. Convenient to train station via the escalator, if it is working. Helpful staff.
We were very satisfied with our choice of Hotel Italia in Siena. Its location was convenient to both the railway station (especially with the escalator up the HUGE hill to within a block of the hotel) and the old city of Siena. The desk staff was especially friendly and helpful with directions and recommended tours. The breakfast was very nice and the […] room was comfortable and clean. We really enjoyed the area and would return to Hotel Italia. Read more
"Great stay in Sienna!"
Guiletia greeted us at the desk. She was very pleasant and helpful. One day she booked a Tuscany tour for us that was wonderful. The room was lovely, very clean, with a spacious bathroom that was spotlessly clean. The location is walkable from the old city, but about 25-30 min. for us. There was a good Gelati shop on the way so that helped! We would […] stay at Hotel Italia when in Sienna again. Read more

Hotel is about 15 mins up slope walk from the train station. My wife complains after the walk from the train station to the hotel (lugging our luggage). Overall, it is a nice hotel. Nice clean room. Average breakfast. Walkable to town center.

"Hotel Italia, Siena, Italy"
Hotel was considerably further from the train station that indicated on the map. Hotel staff helped arrange a lovely wine-tasting tour experience in San Gimignano. A little pricey, but nice enjoyable tour. Breakfast was good and had nice variety - eggs, fresh fruit, cereal, pasteries, breads, etc. Internet access was high if you didn't have your own […] laptop. We went toward Il Campo and found an internet cafe for half the price the hotel wanted. Overall would recommend this hotel. Read more
"Hotel Italia in Siena - Could do with an update"
The hotel is conveniently located, about 15 minutes walk from the centre of Siena, and 10 minutes from the Hotel Garden, where guests have access to the very nice swimming pool. The hotel reception is pleasant, but my room had no air conditioning and faced on to the street so it was noisy and I couldn't leave the window open - nightmare in the heat. […] The room was rather run down and shabby, not really 3* standard. Service was adequate and polite, if not over-friendly. Breakfast was very run-of-the-mill. I would still recommend the hotel for the convenience of the location and access to the Hotel Garden swimming pool. Read more
"Good Option in Siena"
The Hotel Italia is a nice hotel close to the train station. We did not see the city from this hotel-we were going straight to rent a car, so I can't speak to the walking distance to the old city, but we were told it was an easy walk. Our complaints about this place were that the walls were thin and it was a bit noisy. We were on the third floor. The […] pillows were the hardest we encountered in Italy. The best thing about this hotel is the staff. They could not have been nicer and more willing to help. Read more
"Budget option"
I chose this hotel for its value, close location to the city and facilities. Although the location was within walking distance to the city centre (20 minutes) and the room (economy) was equipped with a safe, fridge etc, the room was very basic and not that comfortable. The bed linen was old and frayed and there were marks on the wall. I must say however […] that the bathroom was very clean and modern. The breakfast room was lovely with a good selection of food (cereals, juices, cakes, croissants, eggs and sausages at weekend) and good coffee. The service at front desk was also very good and all the staff were very pleasant. This somewhat made up for the quality of the room. I am not very fussy when it comes to hotel rooms and still enjoyed my stay at the hotel but I would not stay here again. Perhaps the superior rooms are better but I think there are more hotels closer to the centre that I would choose over this one. Read more
"great place"
really nice breakfast, clean, comfortable and big room for 3 persons. not so far from the central siena.
"Far from the bus station"
Nice hotel! Clean rooms, spacious bathrooms. Polite bilingual staff! Good breakfast. Just a little far from the bus station. The hotel is located outside the walls of the city and it is not the most convenient from the train station either. But otherwise, a pleasant stay!
"Friendly helpful staff central to transport and close to city"
The hotel staff are very friendly and helpful with advice. Its a 400 metre walk to the hotel from the train station. It is up a hill to the hotel which has lovely views and breezes. The hotel is only 10min walk to the Campo.
"A good place to stop for those who drive to Siena"
We arrived in Siena after sunset. Our Garmin GPS running City Navigator Europe Version 8 sent us down the wrong way on a one way street as soon as we entered the city, then lost our position when the streets became narrower and twistier. We could not have reached Hotel Italia in these conditions without asking for directions. Still, this hotel may be […] the only one within easy walking distance of the town center that offers free parking. Although the actual number of off-street parking spaces belonging to the hotel is no more than half a dozen or so (these are really just tiny pockets formed between the narrow drive way behind the hotel and projections from the walls of the buildings on either side - there is no room to turn even for a small car - you have to carefully back your way out of the obstacle course if all the spaces are taken). You are better off parking on the street just beyond the drive way. The room we first checked into was in disarray. It turned out that one of their cleaning ladies was sick that day, and something got mixed up when the cleaning duties were reassisgned. We were given a free upgrade to an available "Superior Room", which was much roomier and more elegantly decorated, so it actually worked out for us. Wireless internet was not free, but sold in hourly blocks; which we found was common practice in Italy. Leaving was much easier, as we were headed to Florence next, we just had to stay on the road in front of the hotel. Read more
"nice hotel, decent location"
for starters: if you are going to walk to the hotel from the train station, please pay attention: 1)get a map from the tourist office at the station and have them outline the route; 2) when you make a left onto the first street... it is not really a street, it's a dirt path... follow the dirt path all the way to the top... the path then runs into a […] road... follow that to the top and you are right in front of the hotel. not hard to find, but a little difficult uphill walk on dirt. if you have roller luggage, take the bus in. the location is just outside the walls of siena... but within a 3 minute walk. it's very nicely located just outside the walls. siena is not very big, so anything close is good enough. i recommend renting a car and driving the "22" up to chiante for some wine tasting at the wineries. my wife and i did it on a whim and it was interesting... the views were awesome. neither of us speak any italian and it was still really easy to get around. the hotel itself was ok. not grand, but not garbage either. there is no air conditioning, but there was a fan in the room. and the room had a nice balconey. the room was small, but clean. also, there was not as much noise as i originally thought there would be considering it is on a major street. lastly, if you want a canole, get one before you get to siena. they have no idea what they are. "Good Value and location"
We stayed at Hotel Italia for two nights. We arrived via train, and chose the hotel because it was well priced and close to the train station. The hotel was a bit more dated then some of the others we stayed in on our trip, and didn't have a lot of charm to it's decor, but it was clean and comfortable and the rooms and bathrooms were a good size. It […] was a bit of a walk to the center of town, but the location allowed us to be closer to more cost effective dining options. The walk into the main part of the city was not bad at all, and there was a bus station right near the hotel. The staff was helpful. We booked a day excursion from the hotel - there were several options. Breakfast was pretty good too. Read more
"no está lejos, pero no está en el centro."
Mala relación Calidad/Precio. Es caro para lo que es el hotel en si. Habitaciones con falta de mantenimiento. Sin embargo el baño era estupendo. "Hotel proche de la gare"
Hotel très propre et très clair, proche de la gare si on comprend qu'il faut prendre tous les escalators à la sortie en face. Personnel très accueillant on a parait-il été surclassé. La chambre donnait sur une petite terrrasse privative. Grande salle de bain

"Hotel Italia, Siena - Central, comodo, pulito"
Grazie.
"La Siesta"
This was the best hotel we stayed during a 3 week trip in Italy. The owner is extremely nice and helpful. He is at your service 24hours a day to say it the least. The rooms are clean and nice, including a nice balcony with a view over the valley. It is approx 5 min from Montepulciano. The breakfast and Wifi is included. If you are looking for a quiet […] and peaceful place to stay while wine-tasting in the Montepulciano/Montalcino area, I would stay here. Recommended! 10/10 Read more
"Nice hotel with walking distance to central Siena"
Hotel is nice, not more not less than the three stars. The staff was really nice and helpful, providing us with tips for day trips with our car. The hotel parking was convenient, but there were also other parking possibilities nearby. Several restaurants in the vicinity, and the neighbour hotel pool (Garden Hotel) was good.

"Hotel Italia Siena - Fin beliggenhed."
Read more

"Hotell Italia i Siena"
Sentral beliggenhet utenfor Sienas murer.Består av flere bygninger. Vi anbefaler hotellet på det varmeste. 4 fornøyde gjester fra Svelvik, Norge
"Matig hotel"
Ontbijt + bediening is zeer goed.
Read more
