Amalfi Hotel Chicago - Chicago 41.88928, -87.62877

My husband and I stayed at the Amalfi Hotel Chicago for the first time this August (2008). We enjoyed the experience. The Hotel is very conveniently situated for accessing Chicago's sites/delights whatever your holiday inclinations. The room was large (by UK standards) and the cost/deal more than acceptable. A nice touch was the free cocktails/buffet in the evening ( for a 'tip' of course - still good value) and the complementary internet facilities. The breakfast was acceptable although a little limited for European tastes. Both of us would be more than happy to stay here again and recommend the hotel for it's youthful and modern approach - just get the staff to ditch their pretentious titles! :-)

The hotel was very central close to the river and michigan ave. Lots of eating places close by. Hotel room very comfortable. Be sure to take up managers cocktails at 5.30 on the 7th floor. Complimentary drinks and hors d'oeuvres, a good place to relax after sightseeing or shopping before dinner.

good location walking distance from city centre. staff polite and helpful, rooms clean and modern with good air con. breakfast bar a bit disappointing. free cocktail bar from 5.30 to 7.30 a nice bonus and you don't get weak cocktails! not too many local eating places and the ones close to the hotel are VERY expensive. be careful with cabs to the airport ALWAYS confirm your fare WITH THE DRIVER BEFORE leaving the hotel on our trip the estimate from reception( which was correct) differed by 10 dollars the driver DID NOT ACTIVATE the fare meter.

Clean, quiet, comfortable, and well placed. Very polite and helpful staff. Breakfast buffet an excellent "extra".

Good hotel for price. very good location for restaurants and stores.

the hotel was great, amenities not as much - no lounge or any kind of area to sit and watch people come and go in. but cocktail hour was great, breakfast was super, and staff very helpful. of course, going on pictures and room description, thought room was a bit smaller than advertised, which made it tight b/ we had our infant and toddler with us. but other than that, everything was great.

This was a very nice hotel, clean with extremely comfortable beds and a nice overall ambience. I would recommend it to others with the caveat that the view is somewhat lacking and the noise from the neighborhood trash pick up is quite loud. The on floor breakfast was a nice feature, too.

Nice breakfast bar, wonderful location, superb help at the front desk for dining etc. Rooms spacious and nicely decorated.

We were very pleased with the check in at the Amalfi. We arrived very early and we were able to check into our room. Our room was spacious and comfortable. We were happy with the continental breakfast but did not get to check out the cocktail hour as we were so busy. The best thing for us about the hotel was the location. We could walk to almost everywhere. The hotel is a block from the Trump Towers and a fun place to go for cocktails. The hotel is close to the theater, the river, and shopping. Also close by is the Art Institute. Also worth mentioning; the staff at the Amalfi was exceptional. Questions were always answered and the folks at the desk went out of their way to help. Very positive, friendly and polite! We will stay there again!

We have stayed here before and loved it and nothing has changed - we loved it again. The location is great, the staff is friendly and the room was awesome.

We had a wonderful stay at the Amalfi Hotel and would recommend it to anyone. The service was awesome....the bed was the most comfortable one we have ever slept in (and we travel a lot)....the cocktail hour was amazing with wonderful snacks and the continental breakfast was eye opening!!!! The Amalfy was definitely a 5 star!!!!!

Nice hotel, clean, well furnished, free internet. Location great in Magnificent Mile, one block from Chicago River, close to theaters, 'el', but don't expect a view. Room overlooked an alley and other side of building would not be much better. Would recommend hotel.

I stayed here with my wife in oct. 09 and we found the hotel to be one of the best we have stayed in. The room was lovely the bed exceptional and the toiletries in bathroom excellent. Breakfast at each floor lobby was a great idea and we also loved the cocktails and nibbles each evening 5:30 to 7:00 which were included in the price of the room. The staff were so friendly and helpful and gave very good information. The location was just right a ten minute walk to the Loop and couple of minutes from the magnificient mile. I would have no hesitation in staying here again if I return to chicago

This is a great hotel in a great location. The rooms are great and the beds are amazingly comfortable. The evening reception they have on the six floor nightly is a nice touch. There is not a restaurant in the hotel but they do provide a basic continental breakfast on each floor. Parking was a bit expensive at $44/night but that is to be expected in downtown Chicago. The hotel is near a lot of great restaurants and nightlife. I would highly recommend this hotel if you need to stay in downtown Chicago.

The hotel staff was friendly. The location was within walking distance of Wacker Dr. and Michigan Ave. The cocktail hour was a nice touch! We paid a little more for parking here than expected, but that's the only complaint. I loved this hotel and would definitely stay here again.

I loved this hotel. I travel often for business. Complimentary breakfast on your floor. Complimentary wi-fi. Very comfortable bed. Loved the Aveda products. Friendly and helpful staff. I can't say enough great things about it.

The Amalfi was a little gem amongst the giant hotels in the city. Loved the modern decor and the evening reception and breakfast right on our floor. I will definitely stay there again.

Price not matched to the value

only negative was my room faced the back alley with a view of a brick wall

Good location for shopping on Michigan Avenue. Good restaurants within walking distance and all attractions available via the L which is two blocks away. Service was top-notch and enjoyed the breakfast and manager reception. Comfortable rooms with enough space for 3 to share. Would definitely stay here again.

Rooms were really lovely and the Aveda products a treat. I found the staff were really helpful. The free buffet breakfast was a nice bonus and the complimentary cocktails in the evening were a plus. This hotel is in a great location for exploring the city, between the Magnificent mile and the Loop. We walked everywhere.

Great hotel and value. Easy wlak to Magnificaent Mile and wonderful restaurants nearby. One minor problem -telephone did not have contact numbers listed for conceirge, housekeeping etc.

I would definitely stay here again. I would have liked to have had a bar though. However, the cocktail party is a nice perk. Also, the breakfast is nice, which lowers some of your travel cost to spend on a nice dinner, etc.

Cool, boutique property with a European feel. The free continental buffett on each floor was a nice, welcome perk. I would stay here again.

Great European style hotel. Comfortable and chic. Two surprises one was that room service was from the restaurant Harry Cary's a block away. Food wasn't bad, but it was a bit more expensive than it would have been if made in-house. Nice touch in the morning where a quick and free continental breakfast of baked goods, cereal, coffee, tea and juice was set up on each floor's elevator lobby. I certainly stay at this property again.

I loved this hotel. The staff was very friendly and it wasn't hard to find. I'm a student so money is an issue for me and sometimes am disappointed in the hotels that I pick that end up having me get what I paid for - not much. This hotel was not like that though, I definately got more than I paid for. Everything was very clean, the staff was friendly and the continental breakfast got my day started off right.

I thought this hotel was fantastic! The bed was comfy, the bathroom was beautiful, the location was great.

This hotel is located in the best part of city if your plan to travel in the loop and River North areas. It's in walking distance to both neighborhoods and is very conveniently located near Michigan Ave. shopping. There are lots of places to eat nearby and the staff was helpful. I would stay here again.

My husband and I often travel to Chicago for weekend getaways. We like to try new hotels every time we go. This was our first stay at the Amalfi and I have to say I was very impressed with the staff. They were totally engaged and some of the most helpful people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. We arrived early and they offered to see if our room was avaiable, without us even asking!!! My only complaint would be that the upkeep in the carpets could be better. However, the rest of the room was very clean and beautiful.

We stayed here in October and could'nt wait to go back. The location is great, we walked to the theater district, millinium park, and lots of other places. The evening reception was great top shelf drinks. Our room was comfortable, and staff very helpful and accomadating.
