"Excellent location and close to everything"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
The hotel and staff are wonderful and we will definitely stay there on our next visit to Barcelona! The room was very clean and neat and the daily maid service was exceptional. The front desk staff was very professional and courteous. Wi-Fi in the room was excellent. Walking out of the hotel and looking up at the Cathederal every morning was surreal. Beautiful hotel and wonderful location!

The hotel was clean and neat, the staff very helpful, and the bathroom was great. We also found the price fair and reasonable. The view out of the back of the hotel was not the best- apartment back porches and dirty laundry, so keep the curtains closed.

"Unbelievably Great Service"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
Stayed for a five night family vacation. Our room for three was very nice with a king bed and sofa bed. Efficiency kitchen with dishes and silverware and cookware. Compact refrigerator. Very well located in Eixample neighborhood one block from metro station. Easy walk to many restaurants and the Passieg Gracia or upper part of the Rambla Cataluna. However the BEST was the service of the front desk. Whatever the request they were ceaseless in their efforts to please and accommodate. Information, directions, recommendations for eating and transportation, ticketing. The staff could not do enough for us. This is service that is rare to find in the amenities industry: a true personal touch. My family can heartily recommend the Acacia Suites for a Barcelona vacation. The only negative for some is that it is not located directly on Plaza Cataluna or the Rambla but if you want a quieter neighborhood, with a local feel it is a very nice place.

"Hotel fira congress"
I enjoyed this hotel... It was quiet clean and modern. The only real problem I had was that we had the room that had two twin beds smushed together instead of one double bed. It's really uncomfortable for couples who actually want to sleep together. Also wish the shower had a curtain or door so the floor didn't get wet. This hotel is NOT for people […] who hate taking the metro or making connections to get your destination. We didn't mind it it was like an adventure every time we went out. Read more
"Hotel Fira Congress in Barcelona"
Nice hotel for the price. Located near the base of Montjuic (where the olympic stadium is) and midway between the airport and the city center (which keeps the cost reasonable). If you are a runner, the run from the hotel up to the castle on Montjuic is a great way to see the city (about 5 miles roundtrip run). The hotel was located near a metro stop […] so getting to the city center was easy with one train transfer and about a 20-30 minute ride. Hotel had a complimentary van to the airport (15 minute ride). The room was simple yet sufficient. the only thing I can grade them down on is that I saw a few silverfish bugs in the room over my week's stay. Also the restaurant was pricy so I ate while out and about. The bar gave a very generous pour of single malt whisky. Not real close to anything but the metro station, but pretty easy to use the metro to get around. Took in an FC Barcelona futbol match while in town which was pretty easy to get to. Read more

"Great hotel for my last night in Barcelona"
I thought this hotel was fantastic. All I needed it for was a place to stay before my husband and I flew out the next morning, and the airport shuttle was awesome. The location is in a really quiet part of town, which was nice, and the front desk people were very helpful. Also, you just can' beat the price. I read other reviews that said it was too […] far away from the city center, but I didn't find it to take long at all to hop on the train and go to a main metro stop. I have to admit, the rolling bed caught me off guard, but that's really the only mildly weird thing - everything else was great! Read more
"Our Post cruise hotel in barcelona"
We choose this hotel because it had a free airport shuttle, and after our $80 taxi pre cruise hotel, we needed another option! the location was very peaceful, there was a mall within 10min of walking, closed on sunday for shopping, but had a full line of restaurants for food choices open. The staff was quite pleasant, the hotel had a nice zen decor, […] and was energy efficient. The room was a bit cool and we could not fiqure out the heating system, but we requested blankets and they brought them. Read more
"Beautiful spa and good location"
We really enjoyed the spa area. Rooms are very modern. Mattress was a little uncomfortable. Location was 5 min walk from the train and major shopping center.
"To trust your first impression"
Great hotel, great decoration, nice and modern feel. Very friendly staff. We had some difficulties finding the hotel. Apparently the street name had changed and therefore not in our Satnav. It made us think that we may have chosen the wrong hotel. It seems to be far from the center. But a quick 5/10 minutes walk to the station and a 10 minutes metro […] ride to Plaza espana make it a very good value and ideal hotel to discover Barcelona. Read more

"Hotel Fira Congress-Before and After a Cruise"
We stayed at Hotel Fira Congress two days before and two days after a cruise. My wife needed a gluten-free menu, and found that the waitress there had a member of her household who needed such a diet. She was able to adjust the menu to meet my wife's needs. A 5-7 minute walk to a Carrefour opened a world of places to eat and shop, and provided us with […] comfortable environment for our daily three-mile walk. The main desk was most accommodating, answering all questions, solving all things that we had to learn to navigate in Barcelona. The shuttle worked to perfection to and from the airport. We took a taxi to the pier for the cruise. Read more

Ideal for someone who wants somewhere nice to stay, doesn't mind walking a few minutes to the metro or a mall, where you can find anything from KFC, coffee or sandwich shop to Pasta restaurants. "Fira Congress in Barcelona - good for what you pau"
The hotel is very nice and modern is located outside of the main attractions of Barcelona but there is a close metro station (around 5-10 min walk). It takes around 25 min in metro to get to Las Ramblas. The twin beds of our room had wheels, so every time we moved at night the bed moved along with us making it a little bit uncomfortable. "Nice hotel."
Staff was courteous and helpful, only sometimes not enough staff and had to wait in line at the front desk for quite awhile, but calling instead of going to the desk seemed to be the best answer for that.
"Nice hotel, far from the city"
Hotel is nice and modern. But the location is very inconvenient if you want to enjoy the city. There is a metro station about 15 mins walk from the hotel, but it limits your time in the city since metro ends a little after midnigiht.
"HOtel Fira Congress"
Beds were uncomfortable on rollers. 10 minute walk to FCG and bus then u have too change metro to city center. Otherwise hi-tech room good service.

"don't believe everything you read in their ad!!"
They advertise a free shuttle to downtown and airport, but this is false. The shuttle to downtown was not available while we we there. We had to take a taxi to the airport on departure at our expense because the shuttle driver did not come to work. Very expensive add on. Hotel air conditioning did not work and it was so hot in our room. uncomfortable […] beds and we could not recommend this place to anyone. Read more
"Modern and friendly, but a bit out of the way"
We really enjoyed the Fira Congress, especially after our tiny room in Paris with the scary slick shower and bathroom floor. This is a sleek, modern hotel with very good service and friendly, helpful staff. It's a bit out of the way in the suburbs, but in exchange for having to take a bit of time with the FGC and Metro trains you save a lot of money […] and get a modern, comfortable hotel. The only complaint we had was that the bed is a bit over firm, which seemed nice at first but we each woke with stiff/sore backs every day. Read more
Hotel was in a very quite and remote area, but not far from trains. Airport shuttle was really disorganized and late at pick up. Rooms are beautiful but beds are hard, and on wheels that separate. Near a great mall!
"Hotel Fira Congress in Barcelona"
It is a very nice Hotel but did not like the area (nothing around it and even the Metro is several blocks away). The lady at the front desk was rude and does not care at all. When we complaint she did not give us her name. We already complaint to the Hotel, have never found such a lack of respect in a Hotel Front Desk. The breakfast is very expensive […] and there are no alternatives around and it is not so close to the airport. Will not come back to this Hotel even though the rooms are very nice. Read more
"Great Hotel but remote location"
The hotel is super modern which is great but we had NO idea that in order to reach the city centre of Barcelona that we have to transfer 3X via metro or 2X via bus! This should absoutely be mentioned on their profile. Yes, the hotel is within 2 miles of the first attraction (Olympic Stadium) however thats not in walking distance..that simply taking […] the distance between A and B on a map. My friend and I love to walk and we dont mind long distance walking at all but this was ridiculous. It should not have to take me so much time and so many transfers just to get into the heart of Barcelona. They should stipulate that although a metro is nearby, several transfers are neccessary. If you rather take a cab which we had to do it will take you 20 Euros one way. Imagine doing that twice a day?? Its hard to swallow when the bus or metro is only 1.30 Euro. Other than this it is really a nice, super modern polished hotel and they do provide a free shuttle to the airport. The description on locale and distance just needs to be more forthcoming. Read more
"very convenient and nice"
This hotel was a great location, Just a couple of blocks from the bus and metro. It was easy to get to the city center from there. Just hop on bus l94 or L95 and ride it to the last stop. Or take their free shuttle to Plaza Espana in the city. The hotel is located a couple of blocks from a huge mall. There are also many restaurants there. The hotel […] also has a free spa facility. "Convenient for the airport"
We were very impressed by the design and overall service of this hotel. Although the room was not large it was well designed and very modern. It had a great walk-in shower and excellent reading lights by each bed. The hotel restaurant was excellent both in terms of cuisine and service. Their prix fixe menu was outstanding -- 26 euros apiece for an amuse […] bouche, a starter, entree, dessert, mineral water, a bottle of wine and bread. The only problem -- and it's not major if you plan for it -- is connecting with the shuttle service. We drove into Barcelona with a rental car, checked into the hotel and dropped off our luggage, then drove to the airport to return the rental car. We asked the front desk clerk where we would pick up the shuttle and she told us parking area G. She said we should call the hotel when we were ready for the shuttle. We didn't have a cell phone, but she said someone in the tourist office would call for us. We turned in the rental car at terminal 2 and I think parking area G was attached to terminal 1. We went to the tourist office in Terminal B and, although he wouldn't call the hotel for us, he told us that the shuttle stop was just outside the terminal (turn right and look for the Bloque Technic at the end of the terminal). The shuttle was prompt and professional. Read more

The hotel was great. The lights were confusing, but we got the hang of it. The shuttle was from the airport was great. The taxi they called for us, was a problem. We were charge 40 Euros. when it should have been 25 at the most to get to the port. We used a taxi to get from the port to our hotel after our cruise, and it only cost us 20 Euros. "Good Hotel, bad location (but accessible)"
The hotel is lovely but it is a bit far although there is great public transport including night bus / train. When you check in they tell you mini bar is complimentary but this the entire contents of mini bar are 1 bottle of coke, 1 bottle of Fanta and 1 bottle of water Train runs until nearly 0000 (it is the FGC not the metro which runs later at […] weekends). It takes 30 - 40 mins to Place Catalunya including 5 min walk from hotel to "Europa Fira" FGC station and changing to Metro in Espanya. Night bus is direct to Europa Fira / Place Europa but it takes 25 - 30 mins and runs every 20 - 30 mins. You may want to consider something closer to city but it is accessible and the shuttle to / from airport is good. If you are using the hotel bus to / from airport or to Place Espanya (runs at 1030 and 1130) make sure you book well in advance at reception. Read more

"Good clean modern with free airport shuttle"
Stayed last night of trip for free airport shuttle. Weird deserted neighborhood outside city center, halfway to airport. Next to metro but unless you are a business traveler I would stay closer to city. Tokyo modern looking rooms.
"Good Hotel- not the best location"
Kind of far from the city center but about a 2 block walk to the train station. Nice hotel and great staff.

"Excellent Style, but Really Noisy"
The hotel was beautiful, and the rooms were exquisitely designed. I was thrilled with my hotel choice until they put someone in the room next to me. I could hear the two girls talking and even hear the water hitting the floor in their shower while I was sitting on the bed in my room. The walls were paper thin. Also, the doors slam shut. There is not […] a mechanism on them to help the doors close quietly, so you hear the comings and goings of all of the guests on your floor. The location of the hotel is ok unless you want to go out in Barcelona at night. The subways close at 12 am during the week and 2 am on the weekends. If you're not back at the hotel by then, you have to pay for a $15 euro taxi ride back. What I saved from a lower hotel rate was spent on taxi rides and subway rides into BCN. If you are going to the convention center in that area, then the location is great. Read more
"You're buying into 'fashionability' over praticality"
The rooms are swish - modern electronic gizmos like Bang & Olufsen telephones & electric blinds, but the parts of the room that required some workmanship, like the painted walls, did not. Also the layout of the room is a little unusual; a doorless shower that leads out to the bed area & front door. There is a blind on one side between the sink & the […] bed but it's still a bit inconvenient if sharing a twin room with someone whose parts you don't want to see! Same if someone answers the front door! I originally booked the hotel because I was arriving at BCN airport’s new Terminal 1 which has no public transport & the hotel had a free airport shuttle. Despite calling before hand to arrange a transfer from the new terminal (& being told to merely phone when I arrive) I discovered on arrival (10pm) that they wouldn't collect or drop off at the new Terminal! This meant transferring on the inter-terminal bus to the old terminal 2B which took 20 minutes (whilst standing up) & then phoning the hotel again to reconfirm. (Being told to ‘wait outside the terminal & that I would see the bus’ didn’t narrow down the location much; another 20 minutes passed)! There were no signs for where to wait for hotel shuttle buses either. Eventually got to the hotel after an hour of leaving baggage claim. I had to leave the hotel at 6:45am the next morning to catch my 09:10 flight because the next shuttle at 08:00 wouldn’t give me enough time for the inter-terminal transfer. Will not use next time! "Worth a comparison"
Excellent hotel and service. Unfortunately a bit of a distance from city centre. Close to Metro stop though, so if it comes out ahead in price comparisons and you don't mind a 20 minute trip to city (cheap and easy with a T-10 ticket), give it a look. Not close or convenient to El Prat although listed as an airport hotel.Excellent Hertz agent called the hotel and courtesy coach arrived quickly. Check in staff friendly and efficient. "Not my best experience"
Food at the bar was simply BAD, same as Bar service. We had to wait for someone to take our order for about 15-20 minutes cause there was no Bar staff (this was around 2pm.) The Spa was flooded and smelled bad. "Gym" facilities are poor, and its proximity to the Spa makes quite difficult any attempt of training, due the hot air. Reception staff was […] correct. "Very Business Class Hotel"
Comfortable hotel which is located in an industrial estate beside airport. Not ideal if your planning on going to the city most days. There is a mini bus that runs twice in the morning and evening but if you want to go out at night you must fork out for a taxi. To be honest doing it again I would add 20 - €30 per day (price of taxi's) to my hotel budget […] and get a hotel in the city centre. All in all cant fault the hotel to much other than location and lack of pool, just a tiny spa which seems abandoned. Staff are very helpful. Read more

"Good hotel for a connecting flight"
The hotel is near the airport, it has good facilities and services and provides complementary airport shuttles. In addition, the hotel provides shuttles to the city during the day. However, if you are in Barcelona for a vacation and leisure, the hotel is far from the major attraction areas.
"Too high-tech"
The hotel seems to be computer run at all levels. The server goes down you find yourself without lights and no elevator. Besides, the ultra modern architecture has not a welcoming feeling either. You feel like staying at a space station. A bit too out of the way as well. People at Reception were friendly and professional.
"Nice place"
Very nice. We stayed here after our cruise and it was very convenient. Staff was very nice and helpful for tourists. The free shuttle to the Magic Fountain and free shuttle to the airport in the morning were great. Very close to subway and shopping. "reasons y u should and shouldnt go 2 Fira Hotel"
My spouse and I spent 3 nights at the Fira Hotel. The hotel is located just out side the city and public transportation (bus & train) is close and easy to use. There is a special and free shuttle that commutes between the airport and the hotel. The room was not very homey, it felt more like a home office rather then a place to spend our vacation in. […] Although we booked a non-smoking room our room stunk of cigarette smell. When we asked to change rooms the people at the check-in desk were not very nice but eventually gave us another room. Also, neither room had carpet or a shower curtain. The hotel also has a spa that you can use with no additional charge. Finally, we both thought that the room was overpriced. Read more
