Although we booked a king bed but got a double, the hotel was good. We didnt complain about the king bed so it was our own fault but the double beds are very small for 2 people...we wish we had switched at the beginning. Other than that, hotel was clean, pool and jacuzzi were nice though we didnt use them. Very good price for a pleasant stay.

We were so pleased with room! There was a refrigerator, large TV, comfortable bed, chairs and table; plenty of space. Bath tub with rain shower head and even a clothesline. We wished we'd known about pool. It was open till 11 so could have relaxed in hottub after evening event. The morning breakfast was very nice; lots of options, available in a bright sunny room with plenty of tables!

This was the second time we stayed here. We love going to Portsmouth but simply cannot afford to pay $$$ for the hotels right downtown. The Anchorage was over half the price and well worth it. If you take the back way into Portsmouth it takes about 4 minutes to get to Market Square - less than $10 for a cab. The Anchorage has recently renovated some rooms as well as the pool/hot tub. It is not flashy but very comfortable and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The continental breakfast consisted of only bagels, english muffins, muffins, cereal, fruit, coffee, and juice but what more do you really need?

The location is unbeatable. The Kittery Outlets are just 3 miles away and there is much to do and see in the Portsmouth area. I will be returning!

The hotel booked at least eight preteen girls in my hallway. They might have had more than one room, but I couldn't tell by the noise! The pool area was reverberating by the shrieks and barrel rolls. The desk person looked in the poolroom from afar, but never stepped in to see how things were going... If there were chaperones there, they were disguised!

Have stayed here a few times and it's in a great location with good value for the price. My only complaint would be the last time I stayed there- it was in the middle of a snow storm (stayed there so I didn't have to drive all the way home in bad weather). I checked in before work, got keys, and went to work. When I got back later that night (in from the snow) I was disappointed to find they hadn't ever turned the heat on in the room- it took my 45 minutes to make the room confortable. I would have thought they would have at least kept the room at 68. That aside, this hotel continues to be a decent value for the price.

We stayed in a recently renovated room which was spacious and comfortable. Had a few problems, though. Had a plumbing problem with first water being turned off and then brown water coming through the pipes and shower head. (I think we should at least have been alerted to the problem.) We never could figure out how to get heat into the room without a burning spell coming from the vents. No coffee maker, but room included microwave and refrigerator. Nice indoor pool and hot tub.

The hotel itself was ok. However its location at the highway made the rooms very noisy. Also, the room cleaning was not good...I found trash under and behind the nightstand and the box spring covers were torn and tattered on both beds. In addition, the cleanliness in the dining area was also sub par...trash not emptied and overflowing. These are things that are easily remedied should the hotel decide to make it a priority. It could then be someplace worth giving a try if you can deal with traffic noise.

Nice hotel rooms. The renovations to the rooms are very nice. The pool area was also very nice and well maintained. Continental breakfast was acceptable. The huge drawback was that they had music playing in the hallways all night long that could be heard in the rooms. It was some kind of muzak with lots of saxophone --- elevator music. I had hoped it would shut off at some point, but it played all night long. Will not consider going back because of it.

Hotel was v clean, well appointed and v central - however I do feel your younger staff need more training. On arrival we didn't get a smile or a welcome and when we asked if we could change the room the recepitonist said no you we're fully booked - and that was it - not a "really sorry" "pity you didn't ask earlier" "I wonder if we could sort something out" etc. It was very negative experience. Your more mature staff were helpful when we had a problem with the car but our stay was coloured by the initial contact. Also in the resturant - we had a good meal - we weren't asked to try the wine - it was just poured and when we pointed out there was a mistake on the bill (in our favour by half the bill) I had to prompt a thank you from the waitress. They need proper training as they are young and haven't got life's experinece.
