Lage gut (Ecke Ku'damm, U-Bahn Uhlandstr. und Bus 109 zum Tegel), freundliches Personal, Wifi gratis, Frühstück inkl. (jedoch nicht probiert). Habe letztlich 40 EUR fürs sehr kleine Zimmer gezahlt. Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Tolle Lage, super zentral, große & saubere Zimmer"
Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great location--basic hotel & a great value"
06/18/14 jdieringer Maryland USA
Having read the reviews, let me be clear...it is a basic 2-star hotel by USA standards but 3-star by European ones. Basic clean rooms, nice breakfast, pretty good overall service, the staff is jOK. Caution, you have to navigate steps as you enter and the lift is in the back of the hotel and is at the stair landings not at floor level. This was a great deal given its location.
"Basic but cracking location"

So, I ended up booking here even after reading some of the terrible reviews on the place, and to be fair, some were accurate, but others not. Right, lets get the negatives out of the way... Toilets down the corridor which are small and don't exactly lock properly. Breakfast room can be a bit crowded and you might have to share a table with someone and the breakfast room is a little cramped. The entry lobby does smell of cigarette smoke but its a communal entrance so the hotel can't shoulder all the responsibility for that. There is no lift so try to travel light. The walls are paper thin so you can hear what's going on next door, so just bear that in mind if you're up to no good ;) The room cleaning could be a bit better too; when I was packing my things to leave, I looked under the bed and there was rubbish there from a previous guest. Now, this can happen in the best of places (I once found a bra in my room at a 5-star hotel in Birmingham) but it still does let the side down, especially as I found an empty box of condoms... There is also a slightly seedy strip joint next door. Now the positives. The location is fabulous! So central it is unbelievable. One tip however, if you ask them which is the closest station, they will tell you Zoo Station or Uhlandstr. on the U1 but just go for Uhlandstr. even if it means changing trains as its only a block away. Friendly staff and you can leave your bags there on your last day if you have a late flight. Reasonable selection for breakfast, but a hot option would be nice. I was in a single room and whilst there wasn't much room in there, it was big enough for what I needed. Staff were friendly enough, not that I had to speak to them much and reception is open 24 hours a day. One of the best things though is the price! €29 a night incl. breakfast you just can't complain if you only want somewhere to rest your head at night. This is the third hotel I've stayed at in Berlin and its pretty average in comparison. Would I stay there again? Erm, possibly, depends on why I was in Berlin... Its not an ideal place for children though...

The staff are awful, the breakfast rates 3 out of 10, the rooms are terrible, the bathrooms are worse, the towels are awful, the lift is a joke! The free wifi is excellent, the location is excellent! The breakfast room is impossible to move around to get food when it is half full of people. It is also only capable of seating about 15% of the guests at one time. I complained that I could not wait for breakfast, having waited 20 minutes, upon checking out, he still charged me for it! Amazingly the people have great command of the English language when checking in, not when checking out! BTW, none of these people are German. We had two rooms, I was in a single to start with, two people could not fit in the room to talk. I was moved to a double, larger, but still a joke. My business partner had a balcony which to my mind was structurally unsafe. This is not a hotel, it is a joke! One actually wonders if it serves some other purpose, there is a "knocking shop" next door which causes all sorts of noise right through the night. The weather was very hot and one had to sleep with windows open. The lift stops at "half" floors e.g. staying on the 2nd floor, get out at 2.5 and walk down a flight of stairs. The lift is at the back of the excuse for a hotel, there is no access to the lift after 7pm as the yard gates are closed. Should you insist upon staying here, don't arrive with much luggage, reception is on the 2nd floor (3rd floor to the Yanks). The stairs are very old and a long way up! Never, ever again, would I stay here, I love Berlin but if I had to stay here never! Do not be fooled by the picture of the bedroom on their website!!! This is not a family run hotel.

Due to the IFA Fair being on in Berlin, there was not a lot of choice left when I booked this hotel. However, some of the reviews seemed quite good, so I went ahead and so did one of my colleagues. The location is very good as it is just off the Kudam, but that's about it. The lift, which is outside around the back of the building, did work when we arrived but then it was out of action for three days. The entrance and the hallways are dirty as are the worn our carpets. The theme continues into the rooms where curtains can't have been cleaned for a long, long time and provided a good place for mosquitoes to wait to pounce in the evenings. At least my room was quite spacious, in fact it was probably considered a suite when this hotel was in it's prime around 50 years ago. I even had a balcony, although the paint was flaking off the walls and there had clearly been no investment in decorating for a long time. The beds were really uncomfortable and this was made worse by being eaten alive by mosquitos for the first two days until the cold weather set in. The breakfast was ok, but the staff seemed disinterested and one of them had such a miserable expression that she would have made a clock go backwards. One good point, the internet was free and also excellent - very fast! Six of the worst nights I have ever had in a hotel. I'll save my pennies and book something better next time and make sure I book early, because I won't be going back here for sure!
"value for money"

The hotel is the cheapest in the Charlottenburg area, which is the nicer part of berlin. 30 sec from the underground, lots of restaurants, cafes nearby, the restaurant opposite called winter gardens does fab breakfast, quite expensive, but worth the money. The hotel has free wi-fi, 5 euro for parking outside, reception stuff was friendly and the room is ok and clean. we paid 49 euro for a single room. All in all, considering the location, free wi-fi, hald decent room, it is good value for money.

Some friends had booked us into this hotel. At first glance, the Atlanta shows a grim and foreboding countenance. Walk through the thick wooden door of the 20s-era facade to confront a long, dark staircase up to a landing, and then to still another flight of stairs to the "lobby" and other public rooms. There is only on-street parking wherever one can find space in the neighborhood. When I asked about keeping my iPad in the hotel safe, the desk clerk merely took the iPad and gave me a note that said he had taken it for safe keeping: no double-keyed lock box or other security measures. (On one morning I even had to WRITE the note for a desk person who was apparently unfamiliar with the concept.) And our two rooms were at the end of a long, dark corridor. Frankly, seeing all of this right up front left me with some apprehension about being at this hotel for three nights. However, the place ended up being entirely satisfactory, and even charmingly evocative of an earlier, simpler hotel era. The large windows let ample light into the high-ceilinged rooms, which, though not lavish, were comfortable. The in-room bathrooms-with-shower were clean and perfectly functional. There was a also a hearty breakfast. And the location, just off Kurfurstendamm, was walking-distance handy to shops, S-bahn and U-bahn trains and even the Zoo. As it turned out, all of us had a great time in Berlin, and certainly appreciated the good value that we got from the Atlanta.

What a great hotel this was. I stayed 6 days and have a few things to say about this hotel. The staff were pleasant and helpful despite the language barrier. The rooms clean, tidy and cleaned everyday. Breakfast is only 5 Euros and the selection was excellent and will suit all types of eaters. Only drawback there was is that the hotel has several flights of stairs so if you have a problem going upstairs at all this hotel would not suit you. The other thing i missed there was no tea and coffee facilities in the room. I think for me that is a must when I stay in a hotel.

Nothing surprising, regular mid range hotel in Berlin. Had a single room with comfy bed, desk and small tv. Everything was clean and worked perfectly. They provided parking voucher for 3€/day to park at nearby streets (if youre lucky to find a spot). Free wifi and decent breakfast. Lot of places to eat and shop around the hotel.

I stayed at the Atlanta last weekend in a triple room with my 2 children. Great location and fairly good value for money. Unfortunately, they were the only two positives we experienced. Bad points - We were staying 2 nights and I was told I had to pay in advance on check in. Very rude at check in and the chap kept me waiting while he finished was obviously a personal telephone call on his mobile. There were not enough places to sit at breakfast so people had to hang around in reception until others had finished. There may have been some nice food if you got to breakfast early, but it was the sort of place that didn't really worry about keeping it topped up. Walls were paper thin so if you like a quiet night, look elsewhere. The whole place was tired and needed refurbishing. I wouldn't stay here again and I reckon you can do a lot better. There was a hotel on the opposite side of the road ( Hotel Augusta ) which looked gorgeous by comparison. I think i'd have a look at that next time as we really liked the location. Mark. London

I was initially surprised by the look of the place, you have to negotiate a very steep stairs which stink of cigarette smoke. On booking in I was confronted by a person who hardly said a word, did not offer any help with baggage, did not show us where our rooms were and hurried back to his computer. There is a lift, but no idea where it goes! The reality is: The Entrance: It has poor lighting and absolutely stinks of stale smoke. Reception: When we arrived, the key was almost thrown at me and no offer was given of help with cases nor were we shown to our room. However, this was only one person, everyone else was very polite and helpful. Dining room: We were crammed in and at one point couldn’t even get a table because they were all full. When everyone was sat down it was impossible to get to the food as the table were too tight togethere. That’s how squashed up we were. Food was average. Hallway: Completely undecorated, bad paintwork with coconut matting, looked and felt like walking down a prison corridor. Room: As above, I will say that the bed was comfortable. We couldn’t sit in the annex as the furniture was ripped and looked very uninviting. Net curtains were well 'smogged'. Bathroom: Floor stained, shower cabin broken (repaired with tape!) and dirt around the skirting boards. I do not know how they stay open with health and safety standards as they are today. We will not stay there again and certainly will not recommend this “Hotel” to anyone. It did to a certain extent it downgraded our holiday and certainly was not worth the money, we would have been better off in a Hostel or tent. To its advantage...... well it's on the Kudamm - that's it
