Chose this location because it was close to Lawrence University. Hotel check in was slow, one clerk stood and did nothing while we waited for the other to finish with previous guest. Their policy about debit/credit cards required a lengthy explanation for each guest. Beware - bring a credit card. Room was fine, but ground floor location was less than […] desireable. A second stay at this hotel has just left us feeling disappointed. The staff was friendly and the hotel common areas were generally clean. Beyond that, however, it was a generally mediocre experience. Dressed in nice sheets, the beds were nevertheless the typically over-firm hotel mattresses which was disappointing. Add to that an overly aggressive […] "green" AC system that turned off multiple times in the night. In the end, it really was an uncomfortable experience - and certainly not to the comfort level that a "boutique" hotel should provide. The room was clean except for the bathroom - the tub clearly hadn't seen a good cleaning in a while and the shower head and other spots showed a lot of serratia marcescens -- the pink slime/mold that crops up in hot/humid/dirty places. All in all, it was not how we wanted to spend our anniversary weekend and not worth the money we paid. It's particularly disappointing considering we were at the copper leaf a year before and it was a considerably better experience – what a difference a year can make. Read more

The CopperLeaf Boutique hotel in Appleton, WI was a very nice place to stay. My husband and I only stayed one night, but the accomodations were extremely nice. Loved the whirlpool tub, good bed. We had a suite, and had everything we needed for an enjoyable stay. The CopperLeaf is in the heart of downtown Appleton, and we walked to dinner at the Good […] Company restaurant, a charming historic location with great steaks. Downtown Appleton has been hit by the recession, but overall has plenty of restaurants and bars to choose from. Breakfast at the CopperLeaf was a big step above the usual hotel complimentary breakfasts. A very pleasant seating area had not only juices, coffee, teas and a nice assortment of pastries, breads and cereal choices to offer; but also hot scrambled eggs, omelets, sausage, and a very nice selection of fresh fruit.
