"Great place to stay if you're skiing at Mammoth."
We went up there for a ski trip. It's an amazing location for skiing at the main lodge of Mammoth Mountain. We walked to the lifts each morning. The hotel itself is modest. Good restaurant but a limited menu. Bathroom was small but clean. Bed was very comfortable and the towels were quite nice. Definitely the place to stay if you're up there to ski.

There was a constant sound of water running through pipes that kept me awake. You can hear your neighbors snore and people in the room above made a lot of noise. I think to an insulation problem. This place is very old and in need of an upgrade. I paid approx $200.00 per night plus bed tax/resort fees for small room with queen bed and did not think that it was worth it. The restaurant was very good along with restaurant service. I won't stay here again but will visit the restaurant.

Best location at Mammoth. The loft rooms are great if you have kids. Location could not have been better; however, definitely use the ear plugs they provide as you will hear snow equipment all night long! Service was impeccable!

"Great Staff, Great Service"
A very nice thing happened during my stay. At the end of a long, fun but very tiring day, I was walking back toward the hotel from chair one carrying my skis, poles, and a very heavy boot bag when one of the valets rushed out past the road and onto the snow to carry my skis back to the hotel for me. That is the extra effort that defines terrific service.

"Lovely stay at a cosy mountain resort"
We had a great stay, I only wished it was longer. The hotel is a bit older looking in some parts but it is so welcoming and cosy you will not care about that. It has a fireplace in the lobby, great rooms, super comfy beds, free wifi and several hot water jaccuzzis and a heated outdoor pool. On the day we left we even got some snow. Overall I would love to visit again.

"insist on mountain view room"
The photos on the website show rooms with views of the mountains. Our room like two thirds of the rooms only had views into other peoples rooms, so you need to keep the curtains closed so the room was dark and disappointing. The room size was great as was the layout.

"Definitely not a retreat"
Don't let the grandiose reception fool you: the chances that you will be staying in the same area where the reception is are slim; the hotel has 'wings' that are a whole different story: worn out, with exceptionally small rooms; ours was so small that we had no room to move around our queen bed; The headboard was broken; windows had only one layer of heavy curtains; one bed side had no night stand so we used the chair; bathroom was worn out and small; it was depressing, however it became unbearable when the neighbors across from us (the same hotel) decided to party hard with open windows until 2:30 am. The hotel comped us for the resort fee of $20. We spent $400 for two nights - never again!

When I booked I thought I was getting a regular room with 2 queen beds but instead had a queen bed with a loft in the room with 2 single beds for the kids! We loved it! Clean and comfortable. Would've loved to stay another night if they would've had the availability. Highly recommend.

"Great landscape"
The hotel is well situated but too old. Turning on the bathroom light, is a terrible noise. The floor was dirty and the beds were much too warm for summer. Of course there was no air condition, but this was not really a problem. The jaccuzi was not really proper, but dirty. Passing the stairs to pool and jaccuzi was disgusting. Viewing the prize, it was too expensive for the comfort of the room. Coming back to Mammoth Lake, i'll chose another hotel.

"Nice Mammoth stay"
There are several buildings. The one we stayed in is a bit dated, but still nice. It is in a great location, especially for someone who likes to mountain bike. There are many lifts to trails within walking distance. If you stay in the outer buildings, stay in the even number rooms. They have a good view of the mountain. Everything closes up pretty early, so it is very quiet at night.

"Great location, great activity center for kids"
Great location for activity on mountain, right next to Adventure Center where you can rent mountain bikes, take lift or gondola to top. Great rock climbing wall and zip line for kids, while parents sit around in relaxing Adirondack chairs watching. There are other detached buildings that aren't connected to main hotel/lobby so if you want the lobby ambiance of fire place, restaurant, gift shop make sure you specify. I'm sure the cheaper rooms are I the detached buildings. They are just across from main hotel so not far anyways. Rooms still nice but there was a smoking problem where if someone was smoking outside the door to the building it would travel down the hallway and get sucked under our door, filling our room with cigarette smoke. Had to put towels under door and that worked. Guys at front were very helpful getting us informatin, maps and ideas for our day. Town is a quick 5 min drive.

"Isn't all it seems."
Was ok. The kids room is a joke. Just video games and one suffle board. My six year old girl was bummed. When you pay the resort fee in the summer it seems pointless. The resort fee should be less in summer because you are not using the snow/ski amenities. We wanted to have our pet (in kennel) stay with us but the pet fees at this resort are sooooo expensive.

"Traveling Through ...."
Passing through on our way home to LA. This place is at the ski resort and has lots of amenities which is why they charge you for a 'resort' fee. I wish we would have gotten there earlier in the day and we would have use jacuzzi and workout room and the boys would have gone to the game room. Be warned, 'ski resort' so no air conditioner in the summer, all you have is the windows and a fan! Rooms clean, but very worn. Hey, not bad for a night's stay.

"A grossly overpriced run-down motel room."
First off, the map on Expedia has the location wrong by five miles. It is at the Mammoth Mountain ski area, NOT in the town of Mammoth Lakes. The building we were in (Yodler Haus) is old (1950s?) and decrepit, and the rooms are small and lack amenities such as refrigerators, microwave ovens, or adequate electrical outlets. The coffee maker (extra daily charge, see below) could be plugged in only if it was sitting (precariously) on the upholstered chair. There is no air conditioning. (A leaflet in the room suggests taking a cold shower in summer weather. We're not making this up!) The parking garage was full on all occasions except one. An extra, non-optional "resort fee", ambiguously described on the Expedia page, covered about twenty "extras" such as a ski valet (in late July!), parking, a TV, free local phone calls, and the coffee maker. The room desperately needed remodeling - the carpet and decorations were grubby and old, the bathroom appliances cracked and impossible to clean properly, and the windows old and poorly insulated. For the price we paid, the room was very small and cramped. The bedclothes were of winter weight and much too hot for the summer. There were raucous parties in an adjacent building on 2 of the 3 nights we stayed.

Nice little hotel right up on Mammoth Mountain and within steps of the Adventure Center and gondola. "Resort charge, cheap trick"
I was unhappy when checking in to find that my on-line prepayment for the room was not the full charge. They were going to add a bogus "Resort Fee" charge $22.80. This is a cheap trick. These fees should be included in the on-line price! I was even more unhappy when m visa bill came and this charge was per night ! The next unhappy event, people raging through the hotel at 11:30 at night. The last unhappy event, being woke the next morning by the people in the room next door. There is practically no sound reduction between rooms.
