"Surprised by resort fee."
Nice facility in quiet, off-season location, at bottom of ski runs outside of town. Very pleasant and competent staff. We were pleased to receive such a competitive rate on-line through Hotels.com, and were disappointed to be surprised by an extra "resort" fee, plus tax, upon check in. We felt we should have had the chance to make a lodging decision […] through Hotels.com by comparing this hotel with all other Mammoth Lakes hotels on the basis of accurate and complete cost information. Having paid for the room in advance on a non-refundable basis, we felt a bit "taken." Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"watch the small print"
Our stay at Mammoth Mountain Inn was nice aside from being in a room very close to the lobby and we were awakened by activity there in the early mornings. Also, it would have been appropriate to be made aware of the fact that the hotel charges a $20 per night "resort fee" which is in addition to the cost paid to hotels.com. We were told about this at […] check-out but since no one informed us at check-in and we had not signed an agreement form, we did not pay this fee. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Looks Can Deceive"
Even with the room upgrade to a condo suite, my wife and I were terribly disappointed with our stay. Upon our arrival we found the main hotel lobby to be very clean, nicely decorated and had all the appearances of a 4-star resort. We expected a great bargain for our reservations, only to find a hotel that was in need of great repairs. Hallways carpets […] were badly worn and in need of replacement. The west wing where we stayed ( Room #609 ) needed to be painted. The hotel housekeeping was the only plus at the hotel. Your website pictures of this hotel were deceiving and in need of an up-date. I'll admit, the price we paid for this stay was an outstanding deal, however this hotel appeared to showcase its luxurious side for the foreign tourist who packed themselves in like sardines. In closing I want to say that we felt as if we were given rooms in the not so well maintained part of the hotel. This part of the hotel would be perfect for the cable television series, "HOTEL IMPOSSIBLE". Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Ski Mountain Resort Hotel... in summer???"
Unless you're there to mountain bike in the summer, stay in town. Overpriced dorm rooms with quick access to the mountain (i.e. skiing, boarding and mountain bike trails -not walking distance to town).Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great Base Camp"
The room was on the small side, but still comfortable. The bathroom is smallish. If someone is sitting down, don't open the door, or they'll get their knees whacked. Our A/C didn't work, but we kept the window open, and that helped a lot. If you like to hike, this place is a great base camp!Genuine Expedia guest review
Lodge is old and our room was very small. Clean but nothing special. Our room looked out on the back side of the building which reflected a tremendous amount of deferred maintenance. Building is two story with no elevators. The staff will help you with your bags. Lodge is located several miles from the Village so plan to drive or take the shuttle buses. Hotel was ok, but need maintenance and repair and should be kept clean. Otherwise hotel was in a good location with lot of activity nearby. But staying here for a Yosemite trip is not such a good idea as it really far.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Ideal location at resort's Main Lodge"
The rate was good; there was an extra fee of $20 but that included transportation to and from the village at night which was great. The outdoor pool and hot tub was just perfect after a day on the trails. The staff was so pleasant, and knew so much information about the area. The only negative comment I have is that the room was warm at night, and the […] fan beneath the window didn't help the situation. Our check-in process was a breeze. The accessibility of our guest room was very convenient to the parking lots and lifts The bed in our room I feel was too small (queen). We are not large people but the bed was uncomfortable and way too small. Our A/C unit wasn’t working. "Exceeded our expectations...location is terrific"
We booked this hotel sort of last minute after altering our travel plans some. We were concerned a bit after reading some of the reviews, but it was moderately priced and frankly there weren't too many other choices. This was a summer vacation stay on our way to Yosemite. When we arrived we were surprised to find it right at the base of the ski area. […] The staff was very courteous and the amenities where nicer than we expected. The room was very unique, with a loft arrangement. Overall it was clean and functional. A little dated and but very nice and had some character. Location was terrific. We rode the gondola, hiked around the mountain and had some great food. Nice single day visit. We would stay here again. BTW, no hotel in the area has A/C. But it cools off nicely at night. "What am I paying for?"
The room was mediocre. There was no AC and they had the ice bucket hidden in the closet. The staff wasn't very helpful and the bar added automatic gratuity to some already overpriced, very slowly made drinks in a practically empty bar. "Not as described"
The room is tiny & cramped. The a/c & heater do not work. The bathroom sink & floor are cracked, chipped and stained. The tub was old and stained. "great for families"
Hotel staff could have been a little more pleasant at check in. This hotel does charge a $20.00 resort fee. Room was ok with amenities like wireless connection, dvd player, and cable. Extra amenities included use of gameroom and dvd rental. Fun outdoor activities for kids for a nominal fee.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Not where to stay if you need reliable Internet ac"
Fine overall--between a Holiday Inn and a Marriott in terms of quality-- but internet service is spotty and very slow.Genuine Expedia guest review
I was surprised to be assessed a resort fee of $20/day. For this I received free in room coffee (wow), free wifi (wow), free bike storage (didn't bring a bike), free ski storage (it was the end of July).Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel reservation stated that it was paid in full. When we arrived, we were charged $22.00 a night resort fee to use the facilities (pool, sauna, DVDs, etc...)that are advertised on your site. There was no opt out option. This is 20% of the room rate. We went to our room that was quite small and over 90 degrees. After failing to find the climate […] control (that also was listed as an amenity) I called the desk and was informed that they only had heat and that it would cool down at night. I said that was unsatisfactory and I was leaving. The girl at the desk was certainly trying to help and gave us another room with a sliding door. It wasn't taking direct sun and was slightly cooler. I will say the night cooling is insuffescient. I was finally getting to sleep when a large semi truck slowly backed in to make a delivery not 50 ft from our room. The men talked worked and it took a half hour then at 2:20 am, the truck departed. This was weird and totally disrespectful of the guest trying to sleep. My wife and I elected to return home in the morning rather than stay the second night we had booked. Their was a great disparity between the property projected at your website and reality. The rooms had no microwave, refrigerators, or any type of positive ventalation, which are fairly common these days. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"$20 Resort Fee"
I wanted a relatively cheap, comfortable, and convenient place to stay for one night prior to my 4-day backpacking trip in the Ansel Adams Wilderness. It was comfortable and convenient, but be forewarned the price you pay on Hotels.com will not cover the entire cost of your stay because you also need to add in a $20 resort fee. This wasn't a huge surprise, […] but still a big annoyance. I wouldn't have stayed here, opting for a cheaper Days inn, if I knew beforehand I would be assessed this resort fee. We enjoyed every moment of our stay. All of the staff, hotel & others were incredibally friendly & helpful. "Nice place but $20 resort fee"
My general experience has been that popular winter ski lodges are frequently nice bargains during their more quiet summer season. Mammoth Mountain Inn is a great property. "summer visit in Mammoth"
It seemed reasonable to us to overnight in Mammoth before heading into Yosemite during the summer. The hotel is convenient for hiking during the summer as it would be for skiing in the winter. The front desk was very accommodating as was the restaurant. The room however indicated being "worn" and the AC did not work to cool on a warm summer day and […] night. "Read fine print -- additional fees added."
We booked this to stay a night off season. The accommodations are nothing special, and the posted rates cheaper than most in the area. BUT buyer beware.... you will be charged a mandatory "resort fee" when you check in. So when the description says "Free Wifi, fitness room etc."... that's not really true. These are the justification for the additional […] charge. This seems like a duplicitous practice to me. "Watch out for Fees!"
We got hit with 20 dollars a day for a "resort fee" that we didn't see when we booked through Hotels.com (It grants you stuff most hotels provide for free). It was hidden in the small print in the email confirmation. Also, there were several other smaller generic sounding fees that were added to the bill, that were not disclosed. Our booking said "This […] room overlooks the pool" but the pool is indoors on the 2nd floor. The room size was stingy, but passable. Also, Mammoth Mountain Inn is 5 miles above the city of Mammoth Lakes, so it's a trip to go to dinner into town. For summer activities, I'd advise you to stay in town. "beware- no air conditioning"
To be honest, it was miserable. We must have found the only hotel in all of california that has not installed air conditioning. I think if it was winter, it would be the place to be. in summer, […] well, there is a breeze up on the mountain so you cant really use the pool area. if you are not into mountain biking , no reason to stay. if you like hot saunas and can sleep in a room with no airconditioning, then the price was right. "Not a good choice for tourists visiting Mono Lake"
This should be perfect for skiers, mountain bikers and hikers. The lifts and trails are across the parking lot, the surroundings fabulous. There is a daily facilities fee which showed after booking. The covered parking garage is very good, more secure than open spaces and was all the “facilities” we used. I made a late booking for 2 and was lucky to […] find a place for a summer visit to Mono Lake. I liked the reviews and photos but forgot the target clientele and would have preferred a motel targeted at family tourists with a small fridge. We were upstairs in the old Yodler building with sagging floors in the corridor. The bed linens were perfect and bedroom cleaning excellent. The staff were very friendly and helpful, fixed missing items and directed us to economical and really good breakfast and dinner restaurants in town. (The bar and buffet menu was above my budget.) The beds were comfortable, the furniture in good condition with a flat panel TV, cable TV and DVD player. Special thanks to the front desk who had the room staff take special care of an expensive medical device I must use when travelling. It is the first time I dared leave it in a hotel room. I suspect the newer buildings are far better than the Yodler. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Poorly managed in need of upgrades/cleaning"
Main lodge was great but the building in which our room was located was not. The parking area is under the building and requires you to pass the hotel laundry facilities with the workers bantering and working. We could see all the way into the washing machines! The entrance from the garage into the hotel showed wear with frayed carpets, distressed walls, […] poor lighting, and a foul smell. The elevator was no better including metal sheeting on the walls - to protect them from skies I would assume. The hallway to the room continued with the foul smell and frayed carpets. And the windows from the hallway to the outside were so covered with lime deposits from lack of cleaning you couldn’t see through them to the adjacent parking lot 20 feet away. The room was small but that would be fine if the room was in good condition. The choice of furniture and wear of the furniture was unacceptable with table tops missing finish and appeared to have been second-hand quality. Poor choice in furniture in that they were too big for the room making it difficult to maneuver around the beds. The chair couldn’t be used at the desk because the bed was in the way. The beds although new were so convex you rolled to the sides instead of relaxing in the middle. The carpets again were worn and the room also smelled. Windows were dingy from the lack of cleaning so that you could not see out. Windows were difficult to slide open because of lack of cleaning. Shower stall had stains on the walls. "For Skiing Location ONLY"
The ONLY reason to stay here is for the proximity to the ski slopes at Mammoth (practically right at your front door). The bellhops seemed bored and disinterested. No one was at the front desk when I arrived. I waited 10 minutes. When she did appear, she spoke on a personal phone call for another 10 minutes before telling me she would be right back. […] 5 minutes later she checked me in. The rooms (outside the main lodge) are old and dated. My room was small but clean. Unfortunately, there is no overhead light, and one of the two lamps in the room had a dead bulb. When I spoke to the cleaning staff the next morning, I mentioned I only needed a new bulb for a lamp in my room - no towels, etc. When I returned that night the lamp was still dead. It is true, you do get what you pay for. But next time, I would pay a few more $ and stay in Mammoth itself. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

It was brief but cool. Hotel is quiet. Close to the ski area. We enjoyed going up the mountain and hiking. It's really awesome. Hotel staffs are really good.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
When we entered the lobby we were impressed with the size and rustic decor. There is a dining area on the second floor that over looks the lobby with the opposite side being all windows overlooking the mountain. Our enthusiasm was quickly dashed when we approached our room on the second floor of the west wing. The carpet in the hallway was old, dirty […] and worn out. The carpet in the room was old and rippled, had only 1 working lamp and the bathroom had a 3 bulb fixture but only 1 worked. The bedding was clean but old and the sheets were rough. The floor also had a couple of dips or sags. The strangest was the shower head which was mounted less than 5' high. Rather awkward to shower especially when you are 6' plus. "Go somewhere else - the location isn't worth it"
This hotel is conveniently right beside the resort, but it's NOT worth it at all! They make the room look cheaper than it really is by charging a resort fee separate from the room fee. It's dumb because the resort fee is for various things you'd expect to be part of the room fee, like local calling and coffee/tea (tho there was no tea). The coffee maker […] was gross in the water reservoir. The door to our room was crooked so it let a lot of light into the room. The heating/ac didn't work - it would only heat and the room was SWELTERING hot. The air circulation is very poor - we felt suffocated in the room. The windows don't have screens on them. The ice maker in the building didn't work so we had to go to a different building to get ice. The pillows were beyond terrible and gave me a really bad crick in my neck. The beds were lumpy. The shower couldn't hold temperature at all. Oddly enough, they provide Aveda products in the bathroom though, so that's nice. The hair dryer was really crappy and kept overheating after being on for like 3 seconds. The toilet basin cover didn't fit the toilet. The layout of the room was very strange. We had 2 beds in our room but one of them beds was RIGHT at the door instead of right beside the other bed like in most hotels. Our room was RIGHT in front of the elevator too so we kept hearing its annoying buzzing. Also the walls and ceiling are like paper. You can hear EVERYTHING. I could practically hear the conversation of whoever was above us. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
