the bed wasnt comfort at all, with broken springs you can fill we had ants al over the room the smell in the room was awfull (like noone used it for years) the windows does not isolate the street noise

This hotel is very average and overly priced for what it has to offer. You can find hotels on the same block for much cheaper. The hotel gives a feeling that it is nicer then what it really is. Rooms are very average.

I realized after staying for a few days that my door did not have a"non-smoking" sign compared with other rooms on the same floor. When asked, an employee explained that that was meant for both smoking and non-smoking people. This was not explained to me, a non smoker, when I checked in. The air-conditioning unit in the room was really bad. It just […] blew air. I could not open the window because there was a sign warning that clients should not do so. (I was on the fourth floor). A safe deposit box was not provided in my room (a single twin bedroom). Only a deluxe room has one. This is not convenient because when I wanted to swim, I could not leave my valuables in the room. There is no locker room for people who want to swim either. The pool is not a heated one. There is no room for showering before enter the pool. Everyone has to come out of their room in a bathing suit and walk all the way through to the pool, which is on the third floor. The employees were polite and friendly this time. I stayed in this hotel before with my family. When I was in the room, a cleaner put her dirty rag on top of my clean clothes which I put on top of my luggage. When I told her not to do that, she reacted very rudely so I reported her to the manager. The manager acted promptly. Read more

The location of the Viengtai is the main reason to stay there. The rooms are pretty average with some very old air conditioning, and the first room we were allocated was extremely dated. But overall it's clean and the staff are friendly, and it's walking distance to the Grand Palace and pretty much on top of the Khao Sarn Road.

Arrived here after 20 hrs of flights, 8pm local time. Taxi was under 300 baht, really busy area but in a good way. Hotel was easy to find, check in was fast and easy. Crib was in the room when we got there, asked for a room away from the street and it was quite. Couldn't sleep right away so strolled down the road and it was very busy but pleasant (we […] had a 1.5 year old with us so a little worried what night time in Bangkok can look like). There was lots of people, music, food, good atmosphere, about a block from ko san(not sure spelling) which seemed to be where all the drinking and partying was happening so we felt a nice buffer. Aside from location, hotel was very clean, we did our own breakfast at stalls and restaurants so can't say about that, staff super helpful, wi-fi only in lobby but was good. There were many cheaper options available in the same area, but we didn't want to chance starting on a bad note with a toddler. In the end we were happy with what we got, nice hotel. Read more

The hotel itself is perfectly OK if a little pricey for the area. The only downside is the noise. All of the front facing rooms overlook a very busy and noisy street so getting to sleep anytime before 3 am is nigh on impossible.

This is a straightforward, comfortable hotel, not luxurious but well managed, clean and reasonably priced. It is used by tour groups, Thai and other business people, independent travellers and families. It is in a convenient position for the sights of old Bangkok and Chinatown and within a cheap taxi ride of the main railway station. The hotel is good, room is very comfortable and large. We were allowed to check in much earlier than the advertised rate, which we thought was excellent. The breakfast was plentiful and varied. The only negative would be the amount of noise from the road/restaurants/clubs outside. Otherwise, a great hotel with friendly staff and great amenities.

Get the train (city line, costs only 40 baht) from airport to Ratchaprarop station [one before the end - do not go on to the last station, Phaya Thai] and get a taxi [only with a meter!] from there, costs another 60 - 100 baht,depending on traffic. wouldn't stay here with the family but for a group drinking trip it was pretty good, only one street back forrm Khao Sarn Rd but still very noisy till 3am, the lower level rooms have had a make over and were nice but the higher ones need it still....

Interesting area, but difficult to get to from bts. Noise of nightclubs lasts until 3am. Swimming pool smells of egg. Decor outdated. Gym facilities poor. Ridiculous price for WIFI in rooms. Bell manager in lobby is helpful, but nobody else is, and you get hassled in the lobby by men selling suits.

Very centrally placed in the heart of Bangkok, clean, cheap and well organised hotel - Really good value for money ! I will certainly come back. But be prepared, that this hotels tends to be a bit worn down. We have stayed at the Viengtai several times, conveniently located in Rambuttri Road, one block away and parallel to Kaosarn Road, downtown. It's simple, rather old, but relatively luxurious compared to any guest house nearby. We would however consider moving to another hotel, most probably Navalai River Resort, ... as central but more quiet. Because […] Rambuttri Road has become almost as lively and noisy as Kaosarn Road. Mit dem Zimmer nach hinten raus war ich sehr zufrieden. Zur Strasse hin ist es sehr laut und die Fenster nicht sehr dicht. Das Frühstücksbuffet war sehr abwechslungsreich. Der Pool ist eine echte Bereichung, dafür ist das Fitnesszimmer eher lächerlich. Von vier Ausdauergeräten sind drei leider kaputt und beschädigt.

Il faut absolument éviter une chambre côté rue sinon vous ne dormirez pas à cause de la musique des bars d'en face ( une conséquence de l'emplacement idéal au centre de Bangkok) Nous avons du négocier au moins pendant 45 mn afin de pouvoir changer de chambre.

Helt okej hotell för pengarna. Rummen var ganska stora, med bra badrum. Enkelt inredda och wifi fungerade rätt dåligt på rummen. Januari 2013.Rent och snyggt, med fin entré och reception. Fritt wifi i receptionen men ej på rummet. Vänlig och tillmötesgående personal. Enda minuset var svart mögel i en del hörn i badrummet och lite väl hård madrass i sängen.

Bra location hvis det er et poeng å bo i nærheten av Khao San, greie rom med bra størrelse og AC, litt lav takhøyde på badet - jeg er 192 og stanget i taket i dusjen - og mangler wifi på rommet. Dvs - de har wifi fra en tredjepartsleverandør som koster penger, men etter tre forsøk på å betale ga jeg opp.
