The condo was comfortable, spacious, well-furnished and had the most beautiful view imaginable. Our family listened to the waves crashing right outside our lanai and loved it.

Beautiful view and great swimming/cooking facilities. Mirror across the wall meant to give illusion of space so place was smaller than viewed on line, but comfy. Close to restaurants and nice little walk to beach.

"Great condo with amazing ocean views"
We love Poipu Shores This was our 4th time here. Can't beat the view from the lanai.Every day we were treated to sea turtles, pods of spinner dolphins and humpback whales putting on acrobatic shows - all from the comfort of our 2nd story balcony. Condo is very well furnished. We had beach chairs, beach mats and a boogie board, as well as beach bags and cooler bags for snacks. They all came in quite handy since this condo is a short and pleasant walk to a lovely string of beaches. Condo was very, very quiet...all except for the wonderful sound of crashing waves that lulled us to sleep every night.

"Excellently remodeled condos, beautiful views"
Our condo was beautiful! We were the first to stay in it after the renovations, and it is gorgeous- beautiful tile, brand new appliances, comfortable beds. The view is incredible from the deck, and the master bedroom has an entire wall of windows to watch the sunrise as you're waking up. Over all it was wonderful! Very comfortable with 2 bedrooms, 2 baths, loving room dining room and a full kitchen. The staff are very friendly and helpful and it's just a short walk to Poipu Beach. Highly Recommended!

"Famliy Vacation"
We had a wonderful time on the island of Kauai. We stayed in a condo to help keep the cost down on our trip.We had a two bedroom condo overlooking the ocean. However, the condo was extremely hot due to the sun coming in the rooms. It would be better if this condo had air conditioning. Also, we had the waves hitting the rocks all night so it was difficult to get a sound sleep. If they had air conditioning maybe it would have been better. It would have made the facility more pleasant since we didn't go out much at night. Also, there is not much of a maid service. We were there a week and the maid only brought towels once we never saw her again. We had to go to the office to get clean towels twice during our stay. The women in the office was, however, very helpful.

Aloha and mahalo for taking the time to write a review. We apologize for your discomfort during your stay but as you mentioned we rely on ceiling fans and not air conditioning as do the majority of condominiums on the island. As an ocean front resort the sound of the ocean is ever present and not something we can control but most people find it appealing. Our housekeeping services are based on length of stay so I am unable to verify your noted lack of service. I hope what you experienced does not stop you from returning to our property or Kauai in the future. Mahalo again.

"Overnight Stay"
Our group of six stayed at this property for one night prior to heading to Princeville the next day. I chose this condo due to its proximity to The Beach House restaurant. This unit had two bedrooms and two full baths. One bedroom was an ensuite and the other had two twin beds plus two cots. The unit was spacious and held us quite comfortably. Sleeping was a little tight for the two on the cots but we were only there for the one night. This would have been a little too tight for 6 people for our entire 10-day vacation but would've been fine for 2-3 days. The unit itself was clean, nicely appointed and beautifully situated right on the oceanfront. There was no beach - just rocks - but it was beautiful views and the sound of the ocean crashing right outside one's door! There were restaurants and party stores within walking distance. The pool was very nice and again, the view was spectacular. The grounds were very nicely landscaped and maintained. I have been to Kauai twice now and have spent my time in Princeville but were I to return, I would definitely staying on the south shore.

"Our 2nd stay at Poipu Shores"
Two years ago we had a great 2-bedroom condo in the A building 3rd floor above the pool. Loved it! This year we had a townhouse in the C building which was even better. Awesome patio about 10 feet from the ocean, with an upstairs lanai overlooking the water & rocks. Great place to watch the honu basking in the water close to the rocks. Can't get any closer to the ocean than this. About 2 minute walk to Brennecke's beach. Very short distance to all the wonderful Poipu restaurants and beaches.

"Best location in Kauai."
The unit we stayed in was a little dated, and could really use new throw rugs (they were a little disgusting). But the view and friendliness of the staff (Georgia & housekeeping) more than made up for it. This was the second time we've stayed @ Poipu Shores and with any luck will be back soon!!

"Great views, close to beach."
Views are spectacular, stayed for marriage and honeymoon. Bed awful, in desperate need of replacement, and I saw from a journal on the property the bed has been a sore spot for years now!!! Replace the beds and it goes to 5 stars. Also, not up to my standards of cleanliness. Cupboards dingy with old drippings on them, floors clearly not washed for a long time.

"Amazing ocean vistas! Watch sea turtles surfing."
We stayed in 205A. The unit had some peeling paint & older decor but was quite comfortable. Beds were comfortable. Kitchen was adequately stocked with cooking utensils. Staff was friendly & accommodating. The view however could not have been more spectacular. It was totally hypnotic watching the waves crash on the rocky coast. Every morning while we had breakfast on the lanai, we could see sea turtles in the surf. I do recommend ear plugs for sleeping as the waves make quite a booming sound against the rocks. We'd happily book here again.

"Poipu Shores"
These are condominiums on the beach at Poipu. Volcanic rock shoreline at sunny Poipu. Poipu Beach 200 yards down the coast. Close to everything you want. The 4 condos A107,B107,C107 D107 might be too warm in hot summer because of South and West exposier. No A/C just fans. Balcony faces South where you can see 180 view of coastline. Crash of waves on rocks might be loud if that is not to your liking. We were there last week of August and kept windows open and enjoyed the sounds of the ocean. Two Bedroon two bath condo was clean with TV, Blue Ray, full Kitchen, stocked with beach amenities , books and videos. We would choose Poipu Shores again.

"Fantastic place to stay with family"
Me and my family of four stayed at this hotel from 7/31/12 to 8/6/12. I had originally reserved a one bedroom. However, the hotel management took it upon them to upgrade it to two bedrooms. I was very pleasantly surprised. Our room was specious and clean, with an amazing view of the ocean. The kitchen was fully stacked with everything we needed to cook. The bathrooms and the living area could use some upgrading but hardly a deal breaker. The hotel is only a few minutes’ walk to Poipu beach, one of best family beaches on Kauai. There are also several very clean and pleasant BBQ areas within the resort that made grilling that much more fun. The pool was very nice too! Overall, we were all very pleased with our stay and highly recommend this place. Travelers tip: If you stay in this resort, take your time to shop for a week’s worth of food at Costco on your way from the airport. The views and the room are so nice that you would not want to eat out and will save a lot of money in the process. The daily breakfast on the balcony was our favorite…

Excellent place to stay. We happened to stay at 201A. Excellent condominium complex and ours happened to be literally 50-100 feet from the ocean. Hearing the waves crashing onto the lava rocks made it even more special and romantic. It is is also walking distance to the beach about 200 yards away. The pool sits on the ledge where the lava rocks and ocean are about 100 feet below, awesome. Everything is withing walking distance. A great place to relax and enjoy. The beach is clean and prestine.

"Honu Lanai & Surf Lullaby Retreat"
06/17/15 Nanette55 Chicago, Illinois
This condo was perfect for us on a retreat from the damp, cold never-ending unseasonably cool spring of Chicago. Everything was just right for 2 people with perfect placement of the furnishings, storage, (and everything you need for the beach) to make a cozy retreat from the mid-day sun and yet feel like you are still enjoying the beautiful outdoors. Unlike most of the condos in Poipu Shores, this condo has windows along the long side of the property so that you have an ocean view in every room. Best of all is the Lanai overhanging the rocky cove, almost as big as the condo. This is where we spent much time watching the sea turtles (honu) gracefully dive in and out of the surf. The constant roar of the surf becomes your background noise and for some it might be too much at night. There is an escape if you want to close the windows, but then you'd miss the lovely sea breezes that are enough to keep you cool without the AC. The interior is updated, well-appointed and tasteful.

"Best location on Kauai."
04/17/15 traveler7440 Rapid City, SD
It would be hard to find a more enjoyable location anywhere than this condo. Right on the water with the sound of the ocean as your constant companion and gorgeous views in all directions from the lanai. Sunset over the water every night and great beaches and restaurants close by. The impression is that, since the units are privately owned, some owners wait too long to update furniture such as couches and throw pillows. At times they can be somewhat sweaty and unpleasant to use. The management at the complex, Castle, is very helpful and friendly and any problems reported were fixed very quickly by the very able maintenance people. Parking is a bit cramped with somewhat small spaces, but it's free. Poipu Beach is a brief walk and there are many restaurants nearby and in Koloa. In general, once you're there it's hard to find a more enjoyable place to be!

"#1 Location"
04/09/15 DL2262 Land O' Lakes, Wisconsin, United States
We stayed in 101-A, which for our limited mobility was the perfect locale. You are literally 6 paces & 7 steps from the pool gate from the lanai. The unit was clean. We ate most meals at the unit and there were plenty of utensils, condiments(not expected), detergent, both for the dishwasher & washing machine. Plenty of bath & pool towels were included. There were 2 gas grills that we used numerous times. The one downside was there was carpeting in the living/dinning rooms, and feel that tile would be a better choice for ease of cleaning with a couple throw rugs as needed. Any issues we had were addressed by the owner within hours. There is A/C in the oceanfront bedroom but is not needed as temps never get above 85* and around 65* at night. Would definitely return to bldg. A in the future.

We stayed in 101C a two floor condo on the end with master bed lanai and walk out patio. We saw sea turtles swiming in the cove below every day. Beautiful sunsets every night. This condo is on the sunny south shore so we had no rain in late March except for one morning.

"The bad far outweighs the good (Unit 301B)"
03/21/15 mwinfield Lexington, KY
We stayed in a unit close to the water, literally waves crashing below us and a great view. Whales came by every day, turtles were swimming below, the sunsets were beautiful. BUT, our room was literally crumbling. The rust on our doors and windows was bad, but the rust on the outlets was so bad you could barely plug things in, the laps were so rusty you could barely turn them on and the dresser drawers were tough to open. Literally everything was rusty. This condo was also so poorly appointed, NOTHING in it (not salt pepper, any basics, not even scissors.) After our first trip the the grocery store I think we found out why. We made breakfast, leaving nothing out, dishes in the dishwasher and trash in the trash can. We came home to ants EVERYWHERE. All over the wall, filling the dishwasher, everywhere. We tried to fight them the entire week we were there but eventually gave up and just started eating out. There were a lot of other annoyances as well, the bed was quite uncomfortable. We didn't stay a full week so we got no cleaning service yet there were no cleaning supplies in the unit. That can't help with the ant problem. I really don't understand why this place gets such great reviews unless the other units are much nicer than this. We stayed up the coast a bit the rest or our trip, same vicinity, and had far nicer accommodations at the same price.

"Hmmm...just dont know if we would stay here again."
03/15/15 Lisatwin-2 Bothell, Wa
We stayed in 203B, the only 2 bedroom unit where BOTH the bedrooms are on the ocean side, which was WONDERFUL! The 2 bedrooms and small front room all opened up to the huge lanai. It had one nicely sized bathroom in the unit (NO bathroom counter though...if you like to store stuff on the counter, it wont happen here) that just had a shower...no tub. In the unit there was maybe 100 towels stored everywhere that you can use...so towels are a plenty! (even 4 beach towels) The views are AMAZING. Over the top. It is walking distance to Brennecke's which we loved! The pool is to die for and it wasnt a "wake up at 6am to reserve your chair" pool. LOVED the pool. Such a clean and nice area. One bedroom has a queen, the other a king. Plug in were hard to use (covered by furniture in the Queen room) and the king room has only one "night stand" and it is a old TV cabinet I think. The closets in both the rooms were nice, but one had folding doors stored in it as well as a lot of linens and such. The other stuffed full of linens in bags on the floor and pictures for the wall (there was a HUGE closet in the entry hall stuffed full of stuff also, a walk in closet that you could only reach in due to how much was in there...the place needs a tad bit of spring cleaning in the closets) NO A/C...and unfortunately no trade winds when we were there, so we were hot at night. There were fans stored in the closets that we used, didnt help though. The waves....ok they are not waves like lapping up from the ocean, they CRASH into the rocks...LOUDLY...and when you have to sleep wth the windows open due to no A/C it it very loud. Wonderful during the day, VERY HARD to sleep at night, thankfully my husband found 4 sets of ear plugs in his hiking backpack...so we had to sleep with those in every night. I have been vacationing on the ocean my whole life and LOVE waves coming in...these ones CRASH. The bedrooms do not have clocks. And only the King bedroom has a TV (which we never turned on) Each bedroom has 6 drawers in the dresser, the queen room has stuff stored in one drawer and so only had 5 to use..and they all were small. We had a hard time unpacking and getting things "put away". The throw pillows had "stains" on them :/ eeek. THE BEDS WERE SO COMFORTABLE...I would love to own this bed at my own house. If you like nice bed pillows..bring your own. The front room has a VERY small love seat...barely fits 2 people, and one chair off to the side...so if you like to play cards at night, and have 2 people in each bedroom, someone has no place to sit. There are 2 wood bar stools, but not helpful for sitting around the coffee table late at night playing cards or even watching TV. The front room has a lot of guide books (and we left our 4 there too) and binoculars. Also about 40 books you can read (the coffee table and the 2 end tables that were pushed together to make a TV cabinet were stuffed full of books and such) There was also a "diary" of past guests we did not find until we were leaving...darn, would have love to read it...but it was lost in all the stuff stored in the tables. The Lanai had 4 bar stools and 2 small bar tables and 2 lounge chairs. That was nice. I got up hours before the others and would sit there and drink my coffee. YOU CAN see into the bedrooms from the shared lanai...so think about your privacy there ;) The biggest draw back on the lanai, is directly below it is a HUGE deck that jets out 30' blocking your view of the water/rocks/turtles directly below you. That kinda shocked us that the complex let them build that and block the view of all the rooms above it. If you stood on the queen bedroom side of the lanai you could look beside the deck and see the water below the complex. The kitchen is WELL STOCKED...BUT there is not one area open to store your food...not one cabinet. So our food that wasnt for the fridge was piled on the counter. Did not like that. There as a stacked washer/dryer that needs replacing. I bet the power bill in the unit is HIGH due to the dryer. We would have to run the dryer 4-5 times to dry one small load. Made managing your clothes drying hard. If you woke up at night you needed to run out and start it again. Over all everything is very run down here but everything worked. Out of the 4 of us (2 couples) 3 would not stay in this unit again, and one said maybe. I might stay in the complex again and get a 3rd floor to be more quiet, and make sure it is a UPDATED unit....or stay in building A or C...not B. The parking sucks. We had to park up by the road a couple times due to the lots being full. The owner was delightful and helpful! We met the maintenance person who was the same...(tenant before us had a window break in the king room...so he was there looking at it when we arrived. We never saw him again and it wasnt fixed..but not a big deal to us at all) The maid did come in at 9am the day of departure and wanted to make sure we left by 10, which we knew we had to and left at 930. We never met any of the staff at the complex.

"Amazing Sunsets"
02/07/15 bikegem Bay Area, California
We stayed at Poipu Shores recently. STayed in both 405A and 101A. Would not recommend 101A, as the sun hits the little lanai early in the morning and makes it too hot to sit on. 405A was terrific, as the sun doesn't hit the lanai til much later (due to a dividing wall between it and the property to the east of it. 405A was furnished to the max, and had a wonderfully stocked kitchen. The dinnerware was so pretty. Lovely unit. 101A was much plainer, and lacked a garbage disposal, bedside tables on each side of the beds (only one bedside table per bedroom) and had a very funky remote for the television. We had to adjust volume/channels by getting up and doing it at the tv. I would not stay on the ground floor again. Convenient for getting to the pool, which is lovely, but you can't leave the windows open to let the trade winds in.
