"Una pasqua da Impero"
Camere dalla ristrutturazione un po' datata ma confortevole ed ampia. Anche le parti comuni risultano vecchiotte. Personale abbastanza cortese. Colazione abbastanza abbondante con prevalenza di dolce. Posizione comoda per mezzi pubblici.Distanza dal centro:dieci minuti a piedi.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Capodanno a Trieste"

"Good location, nice and handy"
10/18/14 Graubuendener Zurich, Switzerland
The Trieste railway station is right on the other side of a small park of "sissi" or Giardino Piazza della Libertà. It was very convenient for us to take a bus from the coach station or catch our early train for Milano, right after the breakfast (starting from 07:30). The city centre e.g. the harbour, Piazza Unità D’Italia are about 8 minutes on foot from this hotel by way of Via Roma and Piazza della Borsa. The tram station can also be reached in a few minutes. We had a classic double room for three nights and our room was big and comfortable. The bathroom was clean and so spacey that we two could spend long time together having chat, taking shower and brushing teeth. The only draw back was the fact that our room was dark i.e. the small chandelier was not strong enough for the room and we had difficulty in packing our suitcase. So we packed the suitcase, checked the train time table, planned our excursions in the bathroom. The people in the hotel were all friendly; particularly the lady who served us breakfast was kind and helpful (also charming!). This is not a luxurious hotel but we had relaxed and comfortable three days at reasonable price.
"Nice and handy"

Nice hotel and about right for the price being very handy for the station. Art on the doors is a bit odd right enough but if Botticelli is a porn purveyor heaven help western civilisation. Because out go Titian,Rembrandt, most of Greek/Roman sculpture, all the impressionists in fact nothing left really.
"big room, great location and an average hotel"
09/01/14 lasttimeisaw Shanghai, China
a one-night stay, the hotel looks a bit dreary and some of the staff performance is below par, the parking place is not in the hotel and it is not free (12 euros a night after a small discount from 16 euro courtesy of the hotel), and the staff who instructed us the location of the public parking was a little unprofessional with her convoluted utterance, while she could have told us in one simple sentence, THE PARKING LOT is behind the terminal. Apart from that, the hotel is acceptable, average breakfast etc...

Old charming Comfortable hotel, clean, large sized rooms, comfortable bed, mini bar. Good sized bathroom...water pressure not that great. Our room had a small balcony, great to watch the people walk by and have a drink. Breakfast was typical of small Italian Hotels, cereal, croissants, danish, fruit drink (not juice), preserves, not so good coffee, they did have tubs of yogurt. Enough to get you buy for a few hours, included in the room cost. Staff very friendly. Walking distance to central train station & buses. Supermarkets close buy. If you are looking for luxury this is not the hotel. We were visiting family & only slept, suited us fine on this occasion.

We had two rooms. One was OK. The second was terrible. Tiles were missing from wall panels. Black mould on tiles in the shower. Bathroom chrome fittings completely worn down. Ceiling fan replaced leaving holes in the ceiling. Glass pieces missing from the chandelier. Doors and cupboard did not close properly as they did not fit. Curtain would not close properly and left a gap in the middle.Around the public areas of the hotel and corridors there were many cracks in the floor and walls as well as missing tiles. Breakfast was very basic. Not impressed and definitely not going back.
"Nice hotel, close to the Adriatic"
07/26/14 mchlwch Washington DC, District of Columbia
The Novo Hotel Impero is about 25 minutes from the airport, a block away from the train station, and a couple of blocks from the Adriatic. The Novo is in an older building, but there are very few new buildings in the coastal parts of Trieste. The lobby is charming, in an old fashioned way. Behind the hotel desk are the little key boxes that you see in old movies—and I noticed several of the guests left their keys at the desk as they left the hotel and picked them up again when they returned. (The room keys are kept on large, heavy brass fobs, but I simply took my key off the ring and carried it in my pocket.) I stayed 6 nights, and I don't think I saw the same desk clerk twice, but the ones I talked to were helpful, polite, and spoke English well. One of the charms of the hotel was the elevator. Because it is small, prepare to get to know your fellow guests well during trips up and down. However, there is a nice marble staircase that I used most of the time. Off the lobby is a very comfortable-looking traditional club room, with large chairs. Although I didn't use it, it would have been a nice place to sit and read. The room consisted of a large bedroom and an equally large bathroom. The bedroom window opened on a narrow, quiet street, and there was no street noise to disturb my sleep. When I first entered the room, it smelled a little musty, perhaps old cigarette smoke, but I left the window open for a few hours and the smell cleared. The furniture in the room was simple, older, and not particularly stylish, but the bed was comfortable. The TV received many channels, almost all in Italian, but you can watch BBC news. Wi-Fi was available: the speed was adequate for checking emails, but not for streaming media. I found the signal strength varied considerably in the room, with the best signal, unfortunately, right inside of the door. The bathroom was large, with a telephone booth-sized shower, a toilet, bidet, and lavatory. There was a small stool, but no other furniture or other means to lay out clothes or your personal effects. I would suggest adding a few hooks and a shelf for toiletries. There was plenty of hot water available at all times, and the bathroom was kept very clean. Hotel soap and shampoo are supplied as tiny bars and small packets, respectively, and the chambermaid was fairly stingy with the supplies, so you might want to bring your own. I ate breakfast in the hotel each morning. A buffet is provided, with fresh and canned fruit, yogurt, a few breakfast cereals, yogurt, fresh pastry, and a coffee machine that produce a variety of coffee beverages. The coffee was quite good. I ate other meals outside of the hotel (there are many fantastic restaurants within walking distance), and I didn't try the room service. The hotel did not have other amenities, or at least I didn't see any. There was apparently some kind of gift shop somewhere, since there was a display window with various items, most very nice, but I never saw where the gift shop was. Since Trieste is a lovely city, and I wanted to spend as much time as possible seeing it, the simplicity of the Novo is fine—I didn't really want to sit around in the hotel anyway. It's not fancy, but it was clean, close to the water, and the breakfast was good. I would have no concerns about staying there again, should I return to Trieste.

I had to phone at the hotel because the address from the voucher was wrong so it would be better if GPS coordinates would be provided as well to use them if you come by car. We are non-smokers and the room smelled of cigarette smoke so it would be better if non-smoker room be available.
"Overpriced for what you get"
06/28/14 Scouseweeman Liverpool, United Kingdom
The room was very dated however it was functional with an adequate en suite. The door has an unbelievably tacky, full size image of a naked woman (disguised as art - Venus by Botticelli apparently) stuck on it. If you can put up with that (will save money on the TV porn for some of you I guess) and accept that you are in an area of Italy that can definitely not be described as a tourist trap, then you will be able to cope with this hotel. I personally have slightly higher standards and was a bit disappointed with it. We got a free breakfast included however it was limited so cannot complain about that. The one major plus point is that it is only a 5 minute walk from the main station. If I were you, I would look at other options which may be more competitively priced.

I was very thankful that I could see the sign for the hotel from the train station, it was a very easy transition. This hotel was also a short walk from all of the buses that I needed during my stay. It was nice to have breakfast, but it was very basic and got a little repetitive after 8 days. My room (310) was a very spacious double (with two twins pushed together) and had a really large desk that was great for work. My floor had Venus painted on the doors (inside and out!) which I thought was fun and helped me know if I had to continue climbing stairs. There was a tiny lift which was sufficient for taking luggage up and down. Although the staff was pleasant, only one woman spoke English and so it became a bit of an issue when I needed a bath towel. The room was very clean, quiet (I hardly ever heard my neighbors), and the wifi connection was good. The only major concern I had was that the A/C was really more of a noise machine - it only blew ambient air and so I had to open the tiny window to let out the warm air at night.

This hotel is 5 minute walk from bus station, reception staff very helpful and our room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The continental breakfast was fine and we would certainly stay here again. Very good value.
