Some of these are now museums, most notably the eccentric Kattenkabinet. The Amstel is a more down-to-earth waterway, lined with houseboats and famous for its classic much–photographed Magere Brug (Skinny Bridge). The floating Flower Market is also a much-loved canal feature.

Our room was en suite, with tea/coffee making facilities and a dvd player. DVDs were available to borrow from reception, should you have a spare couple of hours! The people here were friendly and helpful, even posting our postcards for us! Rooms weren't palatial but had all one needs. The location was central, yet peaceful, and within walking distance of most sights. Some rooms have canal views, which we were offered for 10 euros a night more. We declined but the choice was there. Hotel Eureka even welcomed the local heron, who dropped by each morning for some breakfast! It was free for him, but for humans it is 10 Euros per day. All in all, an excellent budget hotel with friendly staff, clean rooms and convenient location.

Excellent location with wonderful staff. We stayed for three nights and asked for a view of the canal, which we received no charge. Rooms were small but that is normal. Staff were all very friendly. Skip the breakfast. Great location, out of the red light district but close enough, maybe a 10 minute walk. Great area across the canal with karaoke bar and wonderful restaurants. Loved every minute of it.

Arrived on a Thursday, very friendly welcome. The 10 Euro breakfast is worth starting the day on and you get your first one free. Never felt afraid to ask for any information. The hotel itself is right in the middle and only a 5 or 10 min. walk to wherever you want to go,rld or Leidsplein etc. and only across the bridge from the Rembrandht sq.If your looking for a basic nicer priced hotel for a short stay look no further, we left Mon. knowing we wouldnt hesitate to return. Just one thing if you take any towels of your own do keep an eye on them as they can end up in the hotel laundry.

Very difficult to locate to begin with. Staff all smoke, so the entire hotel smells of cigarettes, even in the enclosed hallways.Rooms were very small, very cramped, and in definite need of updating. No place to store luggage. Breakfast at 10 Euros is no bargain, especially for cold items. Staff were all very accomadating.

I was in town for a weekend to enjoy the city. The room was not just small for a European room, but the room wasn't clean and the walls were very thin and I had to listen to an adjacent room partying on their first excursion to Amsterdam. Overall, the hotel is in a great location, and is likely a good find for the 20-something looking for the crazy weekend in a safe hotel. For me, a thirty-something past my 'party all night phase', it wasn't ideal.

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The staff was friendly and helpful. Our room, a free upgrade with a nice view of the canal, was small, but very cozy. The room was clean. The hotel's central location was favorable. There was a small problem with our phone that caused some frustration but they got the problem solved. We liked the place. We're planing on staying here again on our next trip.

The room was small, but clean. Nice outside. Very much like a US roadside motel inside. We were upgraded to a canal view for no charge. The staff was friendly. It was central to all locations - 10 min. walk to the Dam, 20 min. walk to Centraal Train Station. If you are looking for a clean place to sleep and shower and not much else, this is your place.

I wouldn't hesitate coming back for a stay again. Great location, friendly staff and a nice breakfast, first breakfast free of charge, with the possibility to make your own omelet or fried egg. Nice view of the channel, and two-mins walk from Rembrandt plein. The parking is a bit expensive though, four euros p.h. if you want your car outside the hotel, or else a carpark hotel is the alternative. Good TV - lots of channels... Overall, seven out of ten

The hotel is located close to the Amstel. It's in a quiet part of the city, but if you're very sensitive to sounds (I am), bring your ear plugs as the traffic on the canal can be quite lively. One thing that was very nice was that the hotel treats you to the first breakfast and then it's up to you whether or not you want to pay for it the following days. It might seem a bit expensive at first, but we found it to be a bargain in the end, considering the high food prices in Amsterdam. We really liked that you could make your own omelette. The hotel is charming and we will definitely go back there. Small things like the hotel cat and the water boiler and coffee/tea in the room made it extra cosy. At first we didn't find the staff very friendl. Helpful, but not friendly. Then we realized that that's how the dutch service works and that the Eureka staff indeed was friendly in its own way.
