Waikiki established its reputation as a getaway when the Moana Surfrider opened its doors in 1901. Today, more than 30,000 hotel rooms are packed in the skyscrapers along the golden sands of Waikiki Beach. At the end of Waikiki, Diamond Head towers as an enduring landmark. West of Waikiki, Pearl Harbor offers a somber testament to history and the victims of World War II.

This hotel didn't meet my expectations after reading the wonderful reviews on hotels.com. I wasn't satisfied due to the fact that my room was dirty- there was hair left over from previous guests in the bathroom, the tub was dirty and the sink had dirty stains all over it. I just felt like the entire room was unsanitary. There was nothing special about the bedding as it felt like any other flat hotel bed. It came with a mini-refrigerator which was a plus, but no microwave (we got the city-view room). We had to bring our food down to the parking garage where the housekeepers were and they would allow us to heat our leftover food. We also were waken up but the loud garbage trucks early in the morning. The receptionist were extra friendly and greeted us upon our arrival. Location is great since it's only a block away from the beach and close to all of the shopping areas. Overall, I wouldn't stay here again due to the fact that my room was filthy, so I'd rather pay a few extra dollars some place else to get a cleaner room.

This is the perfect hotel for price and location! We were very happy. It is an older remodeled hotel. The staff were very nice and accommodating. We slept there and spent our days touring around. If you are looking for view and great pool area--this is not the hotel for you. One block to beach and shops!

This room was perfect for our vacation considering the price. If you are in your room a lot in Hawaii then you should not be on vacation. This room is perfect for people who are visiting Hawaii who don't need all the bells and whistles. The location is excellent just a block off the beach and in walking distance of everything. We were there to change and sleep and that worked out well. The hotel was clean staff were nice, shot out to Brandon at the front desk. The only downfall is that you can't smoke on the balcony. Other than that I would book this hotel again.

Just tell them my Hotels.com information and sign the check in card and get my keys. Not even asked for a credit card. How refreshing. It couldn't have been a better visit. It's perfectly located. We knew there was going to be remodeling we just didn't know it would be directly above us. Our two year old needed an afternoon nap and we couldn't sleep because they were busting up the tile in the room above ours. The front desk was very accommodating and gave us a floor on a lower room which was identical to the one we had. The only bad part was that we payed extra to be on an upper floor for the mountain and city view but our room change put us on the 4th floor with no view except of another hotel's entrance. Overall, it was a good value for the money.

The hotel crew were all curteous and helpful. The room was clean and was at a cool temperature when we arrived. The only issue I had was with the construction thats going on in a few of the rooms, it got a little loud at times during the day. But I would recommend a stay at the Waikiki resort hotel.

As we planned our Hawaii trip over the past 8 months, the economy got worse and worse, and the hotel prices got better and better. Because of this, we cancelled and rebooked hotels a few times, eventually booking at the Waikiki Resort Hotel at an amazing rate for a partial ocean view (which included two $13 breakfast buffets per day). When we mentioned our anniversary, we were upgraded to an ocean view, from which we also had a nice view of Diamond Head. The hotel's location was astonishing for the price! In the very center of Waikiki and less than 1 block from the nicest portion of Waikiki beach... Also about 2 blocks from the Int'l Marketplace and other great sites. The open-air lobby was very nice; large and with fountains/torches outside. The rooms were slightly more dated (could use new carpeting and bedspreads), but were very spacious with a relatively huge balcony and a wetbar/minifridge with granite countertop; also had a flatscreen TV. The staff were very friendly and helpful, especially the concierge, who we even called a few times from the road while sightseeing for directions and tips. While still costly ($18/day),the parking was cheaper than other hotels in the area, and the hotel had both a small parking lot and a small basement garage. Our only gripe was the EXTREMELY LOUD garbage trucks at 5:30 every morning, but I'm sure they were just as loud at the neighboring hotels. Overall, my wife and I considered this place to be quite a find, and we wouldn't hesitate to stay there again!

Instead, I found the front desk staff was kind, understanding, and extremely patient with my repetition of questions. The hotel was incredibly bright, open, spotless. Check in was painless. The room was clean, tastefull decor, and didn't have the smell of cleaner or over powering "perfume" smell....just clean air. It was wonderful. What a bargain for the small price I paid. I intend on staying here with every visit to Honolulu.

This is an old hotel and it's nothing fancy. But the location is one block from Waikiki Beach, it's decently maintained, and the staff are friendly. Our room had two full beds on the 7th floor. There was a small patio deck, but the view was just the side of the next building (no ocean, mountains, or any view at all). The room had anemic lighting and the decor was very dull. Bathroom was small, with only a shower. This is not a room you'd want to spend any time in other than for sleeping. However, it was clean and well kept. The service was great. The guests were from all over the world, especially Korea. There were lots of large groups. The only problem with the large groups is that the elevators are small and slow, so if a whole group was heading to their rooms at once, you might have to wait 10 minutes for the elevator. The reason I would not stay here again is that there is no wireless internet, and the single wired internet port in the room costs $10/day. There is an internet room in the lobby downstairs with 2 or 3 computers, but I was never able use one because of all the kids who were always in there surfing the web or playing games. Modern hotels need to realize that travelers these days need wireless internet, and it should be free. Of note: I also couldn't find free wifi within walking distance of the hotel. The best thing is the location. One short block and you're on Waikiki Beach. Anyhow, nice enough for what it is.
