We really enjoyed our stay at the hotel. It was a very nice room and they set up a small cot for my 3 yr old son. The room was small, but everything is in Venice (limited land and such) and clean. The hotel was also more than happy to set up a private taxi for us to see Murano and a private tour of the factory as well as the private showroom. We bought […] too much crystal...haha. Also the dinner recommendations were hit-or-miss. It could be our taste in food. One restaurant was wonderful the other terrible, but other folks seemed to like it. A great choice for a second or third time visitor to Venice. If you are visiting for the first time and have only a few days, you may opt for a location closer to the big tourist attractions. Then again you may opt to stay here if you enjoy long walks (and getting lost in the amazing maze of canals and alleys) plus you can get a Vaporetto pass (though […] quite pricey) to quickly go up and down the Grand Canal. The staff is very welcoming, the bed was comfortable, the decor exotic, the WiFi was strong (though you must remember to log off to save yourself the hassle of getting another code), and overall a very pleasant stay. Check TripAdvisor for nearby Cannaregio restaurants that are highly rated and be sure to reserve a table in advance to cap off your evening in the magic that is only Venice. Read more

Wonderful location, quiet, authentic, close to the vaporetto stop. We stayed in a basic room which was small, but had everything we needed. Beds are hard, but that's Europe. Fabulous staff, wonderful breakfast. The hotel is clean and a good choice. You are near a water bus stop (7 minute walk) for #2 line and about a 5 mininute walk from the boat you use to get to the airport for 16 euro. We arrived by train and used the water bus and then walked to the hotel with luggage with no trouble. I printed the directions off their website or it would've been hard […] to find. After the first time its simple though. The street that you use last to get to the hotel has a grocery store where you can get water etc. Plus wine and prosecco on tap, you can buy a liter for less than 5euro. Also on the way you will see an area that has shops and places to eat. You are definately not on the main drag at this hotel but the trade off is a quiet and restful place. Only problem we had was our luggage was stored in an unlocked area of the hotel so anyone could have potentially taken it and the area although enlcosed was outside so had it rained not to mention our lotions and perfumes etc. sat in the heat all day. So be sure to let them know you don't want your stuff stored in that way it never occurred to me such a thing would take place. The a/c in the rooms works really well and breakfast is good. We had two rooms one room was big but with a small bathroom (knees almost hit wall when you sat on tiolet) and the other room was small but the bathroom was big. Some staff were more helpful than others but all were fairly polite. They only do 30 minutes of wi-fi before they start charging lots of money. Read more

The hotel was very classy & clean and the staff was very helpful & respectful. My wife and I stayed in one of the smaller rooms and found it quite cozy; however, the "bathtub" is incredibly tiny. It is not a bathtub in the traditional sense at all, and has no room to bathe even a child. There is a built-in seat from which your legs hang as you enjoy […] a nice foot, shin, and calf soak. It really is more suited for a shower, but with the built-in seat, there really is no room for you to move around inside the shower. Also, construction was going on during the day, but we didn´t mind it so much as we were exploring for much of the day anyway. The Hotel ai Mori d"Oriente was in a nice quiet location and that is about the only good thing I can say about this hotel. You get 1/2 hour free internet access and that is just about enough time to get one boarding pass printed because the access is so slow. The room was decent but the bed hard..like a box springs (typical of Italy). The worst thing […] about this hotel was that the front desk staff convinced us to take the water bus ($22.00 per person) to the airport for a 9:45am flight. The water bus came and left saying they were full. We called a water taxi ($150.00) which never showed up. By the time the next water bus came it got us to the Venice airport, which is a Zoo, at 1hr 15min. before our flight.....they wouldn't let us through security. We spent the next 26hrs in the airport and had to buy new tickets home. This hotel cost us lots of money and a horrible end to our 20th wedding anniversary trip to Italy. Read more

Although everything was completely clean, there were no windows, only small skylights. So it was dark, a bit dank, and dreary. If you're looking for a hotel with impeccable service, attentive and helpful staff, where the barman wears a tux (and has a fine single-malt Scotch selection), and everything looks like you stepped into a movie of Venice in 1930 (except they have WiFi in the lobby), then this is the hotel for you. The front desk / reception is classic, wood-paneled […] with mosaic tile floor, with dashing and well-spoken clerks (excellent English, good adice) backed by a wall of mail slots for each room where they hang your key (on a big tasseled fob) each time you leave the premises. The hotel style is elegant and warm and vaguely oriental, as you also see hints of elsewhere in Venice (which, as a powerful merchant republic, had trading relationships all over the world). The included breakfast is good and plentiful (fruit, various breads and croissants, a breakfast tart, hard-boiled eggs, juices, cereals, sliced meats and cheeses, yogurt, bottled water, and a fabulous expresso/capuccino/cafe latte/hot chocolate machine), with inside seating plus outside in a spacious, pretty courtyard. There are three separate small buildings, the main one in front with multiple floors, another one on the side (also multiple floors) and another in back (with plans to expand to another building). Our room 303 was in the back first floor, smallish but tall ceilings, a huge window, quiet, nice bathroom, cable TV; although dimly lit, anemic A/C. A short and scenic walk to the vaparetto, through charming streets, is all the separates this hotel from the major tourist sites of Venice. We loved this quaint Venice hotel. It was near the Jewish Ghetto neighborhood which my husband and I enjoyed. It's a little outside all the famous sites, so if you like the action to be right outside your door this is not the place for you. We however found the area perfect and it was not difficult to walk to other locations.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this 4 star hotel located mainly in a residential area. We stayed here for 7 nights and would definitely go back to the same place. Our room had no view but that was okay. Located close to a vaporetto stop on the canal and the restaurants in the area were very good. Most of the restaurateurs spoke English so no need […] to feel alienated. Don’t bother with the hotel excursions, especially the one that visits Murano. We ended up watching a demo on how glass is made and then herded into a showroom of very expensive glass pieces. Take the water bus to the island and do it yourself. The breakfast wasn’t bad but we kind of got fed up with it after 7 days. They had a variety of cold meats, croissants, cereal, juices, coffee etc. We took a day trio to Lido. We had a nice surprise, for the price and in a touristic place like Venice we had a very low expectative about the hotel, but it is a beautiful place with very comfortable rooms, a big bathroom (very estrange in Europe) and a good breakfast. We had a problem with the fridge in our room that was not working and they told us that the fridge was old and […] could not be repaired so the only solution was to change it for a new one but they could not do it during our stay, so we did not have cold drinks in our room. We also notice that there was a lot of dirt under the furniture in the room, you do not notice this at once, but I had to look for a ring I drop under the TV table and then I notice how dirty it was. The closest water bus stop is "Madonna D'orto"; from there the hotel is only a few blocks. It was a little difficult to find through the crazy streets, but had several 'markers' to help us find our way back after a day of exploring. The rooms were clean and well stocked with a mini bar, TV, safe, and large closets w/ mirrored doors. The bathroom was […] very much on the small side, which was fine for me (I'm only 5'3") but my 6' tall husband had sort of a hard time maneuvering around. Despite it's size, the bathroom was very clean and looked newly remodeled. The free breakfast offered every morning was quite sufficient. Fresh fruit salads, croissants, cereals, cheeses, meats, juice and a single cup coffee maker that offered everything from a single espresso to lattes. They also offered items from a 'hot' breakfast menu for extra Euro, though we didn't sample. It was also nice that the breakfast hours were until 1030; it gave us more option to sleep in a bit. The hotel was quiet and has pretty interior/exterior but the walls are paper thin. Staff was very friendly! We got 'hellos' and 'goodbyes' galore from everyone at the front desk to the housekeeping. The hotel also offers great discounts on tours and sites. We set up our Gondola ride for 25Euros, however, keep in mind you won't be the only person in the boat at that price. Read more

My wife and I followed the advice of previous Expedia reviewers and booked a superior room with a view over the canal. Other guests I spoke to, who booked standard rooms, found themselves in the adjoining annexe which apparently was much less sumptuous. Our room was well-furnished, spotless and extremely comfortable. A nice touch was the evening turn-down […] service which included chocolates on the pillows and a card bearing the weather forecast for the following day. The well-stocked bar was elegantly furnished and provided a welcome respite after a day spent trekking round the sights. The breakfast menu caters for all tastes (fresh fruit; boiled eggs; a range of croissants and pastries) and a full range of hot drinks was available ad lib. A bonus was an easy-to-access PC, at no charge to guests, and we were able to print out our boarding cards before journeying to the airport. Lovely boutique hotel and staff are all very friendly and helpful. We had a great stay and the location is great. 5 min walk to main shopping street but away from all the tourist shops and noise. We stayed here for 4 days in May 2012 and found the hotel to be excellent. It is only 5 minutes walk from the Orto vaporetto stop and easy to find if you have a map, the same for everything in Venice I suppose! It is a long walk if you want to walk to St Marks Square area but the vaporettos are only 5 mins away and you can walk to the grand cannel in […] 10-15 mins. The location was very quiet as was our room but there were some excellent local bars and restaurants as well. On our first day the staff directed us to the 40 Thieves restaurant that was great value for money and full of locals having lunch, €12 for a bottle of Prosecco in Venice! The room was a little small but standard for Venice but the bed was comfortable and there was good storage, the bathroom as a good size and everything was very clean.
