"Perfect and Peaceful"
09/22/14 Tapestryneedle Rome, New York
Just finished a week's stay in one of The Estate units in mid September. The 3 bedroom unit we had was actually a combination of two adjacent condos with two master suites with jacuzzis, two kitchens, two living rooms and five TVs (in 3 bedrooms and 2 livingrooms). The condos and grounds were meticulous. The staff were warm and friendly. We declined the "Interval Update meeting" and were not bothered any further. Everything we needed was within minutes. We were very happy with our stay and would not hesitate to recommend this resort based on our experience.
"Quaint place to stay in Colonial Williamsburg"
My husband and I got to stay here on our honeymoon thanks to my mother sharing an Interval vacation with us. My mom is a member or a Marriott vacation club and had access to this resort as our previous honeymoon destination did not work out. I was a little disappointed with several things about this resort. First off, we were greeted by a less than enthusiastic person who literally handed us our keys with a frown, showed us a map and told us we had to register at another desk. The concierge may have been the least cheerful person I ever dealt with at a resort and she said we were "signed up" at 11 if that was ok for a registration. She showed us a paper with gifts and refused to explain it. I asked about the facilities at the resort and she said we would learn more at the registration. Listen, I'm not an idiot I knew it was a sales meeting for a time share but I'm irritated that as paying customers we were tricked into it. We paid for the room we are not the kind of people who use those sales meetings as free opportunities but from the get-go we were treated as such...like freeloaders. The meeting was an aggressive sales pitch where the manager literally would not take no for an answer and after they gave up everybody went cold and stopped talking to us. Then we were told to take a survey and some man at a table knocked the price down and tried to shove it down our throats....ugh! Ok so down to the room. We stayed in an Estate. It's an average room. The whirlpool was definitely clogged. There were dead bugs on the walls of the bathroom. The kitchen has great appliances and there are DVD players available. We did enjoy the pools and whirlpools but did notice that getting towels for them is a bit of a chore. Don't expect much in the way of activities and half the resort in under construction right now so you will hear noise all day and night. The concierge is not friendly about booking tickets for guests and greeted us by saying "what do you want?" I'm just surprised for a 5 star facility that people would be so short. We were left to our own devices to get around and enjoy the resort and town. Also the resort has no sidewalks so there isn't any place to walk to get to the pools, ect. I won't be sending loved ones here in the future and I certainly won't rebook next time We go to Williamsburg.
"High Pressure and Just Average"

We purchased a five day-four night stay at Kings Creek from a golf show earlier this year. What attracted us to this location was the fact that golf, except for a cart fee, was included with the resort. I would also add that the term "resort" is used loosely here. We did also know that we had to endure a 90 minute presentation about the resort. We ended up in a 2 bedroom cottage. The cottage really needs some renovation as it is getting a little shabby. The kitchen was minimally stocked with cups, plates, utensils, etc. The bathrooms are TINY. One sink with no counters in each of the bedrooms. Really inconvenient even for one person, let alone two sharing that space. Our 90 minute presentation was fairly high pressure. They just didn't want to take NO for an answer - even though we were upfront about not being interested. The sales guy ended up keeping us 15 minutes past the time commitment and even had his manager come in at the end and make another attempt to talk to us. I found 2 things very interesting about their presentation - 1) they claim this is a top 25 "resort" in the world. Hard to believe based on the condition of the unit we stayed in. 2) they claim that Orlando is the top US destination for travel, Las Vegas is #2, WILLIAMSBURG is #3 and Hawaii is #4. I wonder how many people have fallen for that line? At the end, we had to make one last stop to respond to a "survey". It was nothing more than an additional attempt at a sale. The whole thing really left a bad taste in our mouths about Kings Creek. The best thing was the golf course. Williamsburg National isn't a 5-star golf course, but it is very nice, well maintained and an above average challenge.
"Slow decline of service, amenities and upkeep"

This September, our family visited Kings Creek Plantation for the 10th consecutive year. We have witnessed the slow decline of the property, but this year, we were especially disappointed by the staff. We felt like we were an inconvenience to say the least. The units are starting to show their age, especially in the bathrooms and in the wear of the mattresses. Even though things are not like they used to be, this is still a nice play to stay if you are a timeshare participant, but you could probably get more for your money elsewhere if you are paying by the night. If staying at the Townes, request a unit upstairs, as even the steps of someone walking upstairs can be heard in the lower units. During a few of our visits, the indoor pool was closed for the entire week for maintenance. If the pool is important to you, it might be a good idea to call ahead and make sure this isn't the case for the week you are staying.
"Needs an upgrade!!"

As an owner, location of this resort is great for families. Lots to do here in Williamsburg, so you won't be bored. We have a 2 bedroom in the Townes. Below are my thoughts: Resort: nice family style homes, but need a powering washing!! Decor and furniture inside rooms are very out dated! TV's are 30 inches...in all rooms! Why? Way too small and need 47 inch or bigger!! Located near historical places and fun parks!! In all nice area and seems safe here too!

We have just checked in here for a week's stay on an Interval Exchange. The checkin staff were busy watching football and didn't even notice us waiting. I had previously emailed requesting disabled access and they claimed no record of that request. We got to our 'one bedroom cottage' which was reminiscent of a student studio. Shabby. Toilet leaking all over the bathroom. Dirty floor. Lamp not working. They moved us to another cottage. Up 12 steps. Still pitiful. Tomorrow we have a request in for a move to a larger place. I'll update tomorrow to confirm how efficient the staff are at dealing with our requests.

We purchased a package from the golf show because it sounded like a good deal. (Remember, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.) We stayed in the Estates section....not bad but not as nice as expected. The unit was clean, and almost everything was in working order. (A few burned out bulbs in the bathroom.) Kitchen was small, but we don't cook on vacation so that wasn't a big deal. Shower was awful....showerhead was a cheap one setting style. Even if they did have a nicer showerhead with settings, it was so high, I couldn't have changed it without getting something to stand on...and I'm average height. Also, only a small soap dish...had to put the shampoo/conditioner bottles on the floor. The bed was very comfortable - one of the best we've come across while traveling. Pools were okay...not awful, but not spectacular. Location also wasn't as good as promised...no sit down restaurants nearby, we had to drive minimum of 20 minutes to eat. My husband did visit the golf course (we were told unlimited golf) but he said it was the worst golf course - weeds in the fairway, overall poor condition. Didn't go back, went to other courses in the area. Sales presentation was the usual spiel...buy, buy, buy, even though we said from the start we would not even consider purchasing anything as we already have timeshare interests elsewhere. Sales person was nice enough but kept asking same questions so I got the feeling she wasn't really listening. Also did not know about the competitor's product...if this is what you sell, learn the competition. Kept promising she'd get us out soon, but we were there for the full 90 minutes, telling her no each time she asked how much did we want to spend. Rest of staff wasn't exactly rude, but not very friendly either. Gave off the vibe that they wanted to be somewhere else, which made us want to be somewhere else.
"Had a great vacation!"

We stayed in a two-bedroom in The Townes August 14-21, 2014. This was a perfect location to the best pool for the kids. The unit itself was nice. The two complaint would be: 1) the alcove entering the front door was covered with bugs, webs, and bird droppings. That made it creepy to walk through each time. 2) the pillows and sofa bed were horrible. They said they were going to start renovations in The Townes shortly, so hopefully that takes care of the negatives. The location to Water Country and Busch Gardens couldn't have been better... 5 and 10 minutes away respectively. We went to the parks everyday, so only took advantage of the mini golf and pool at the hotel. We would like to go back next year.
"Golf was great.. breakfast buffet was not"
The golf courses are beautiful and a pleasure to play on and the golf staff was also good. The lazy river was pretty crowded unless you got there early and camped out for the day you probably wouldn't get a good seat. The shuttles are dependable and comfortable so you don't have to drive to the attractions. The condo apartments are nice. The breakfast buffet that was part of our package was ok, but for some unfathomable reason they poured way too much salt into the scrambled eggs on the buffet (I prefer to season my own food) and there's only one person making fresh omlettes, etc. for a room of 150 people. If you wanted eggs that didn't taste like they were soaked in ocean water you had to stand in line for 20 minutes.
"WE ARE MAKING OUR 3RD TRIP HERE IN THE LAST 5 YEARS!"

We have been very pleased with our prior stays at this resort. We have booked 2 units on each visit through our time share and they have tried to get the units as close together as possible. Three outdoor pools and one indoor pool. Many other activities on site including a BBQ wagon and upscale restaurant. Outdoor grills if you want to cook outside your self. I can't say enough about the quality of this resort!
