This is a fine hotel and the service the staff provided was outstanding. The restaurant is top quality. We ate in every night! The meals were inexpensive for what you are getting. I would definitely recommend this hotel!

Hotel was able to accommodate a last minute change from a single room to a double upon arrival. Staff very helpful. Stick to walking around outside during day hours and take a taxi after the evening and you shouldn't run into any problems. Overall, recommend.

A very pleasant experience to stay in a hotel right in the centre of Cape Town. Hotel staff were well trained and very helpful regarding booking services like taxis and information about the town. The best part was the walking tours around the city which the hotel had devised for guests to attempt on their own. They were clearly explained on handouts […] and maps available from the staff at reception, allowing a sense of freedom and independence. Also there was an office with more information on the many specific tours which could be arranged. The restaurant on the first floor, "Trees", was a relaxing place with a view of the streets through the trees. The meals were a pleasant surprise, variety and price wise. The Townhouse was a clean and comfortable hotel with safe parking and within walking distance of many of the sights in Cape Town. The breakfast was very good. This was a great place to stay for my first visit to Cape Town. I'd definitely stay here again.

I was in Cape Town for a conference at the Cape Town Convention Center and couldn't afford to stay at the Westin. This little hotel is very affordable, and is actually really nice. It took me a little effort to find it, and I was really starting to regret this decision when I was seeing the hotels surrounding it, but I would have to say that this hotel […] is much more modern looking than the other ones in the immediate vicinity. The rooms are nice and comfy. I booked the single room with shower. The room was fairly small, but it was good enough for a single traveler. I was able to peak at the other rooms, and they are much bigger and has a great view of the city. The best part about this hotel though is the restaurant, which is a really nice surprise. Breakfast was good, but nothing to write home about, though I was happy because it was included in the price of the room. I never was here for lunch so I can't comment. Dinner was fabulous though. The steaks are cooked perfectly, and they have a great wine and beer selection at VERY reasonable prices. The neighborhood is ok. One thing you have to know about Cape Town is that the city is VERY empty at night save one or two street with night clubs. The area in the immediate vicinity is very quite after dark, but the police station is pretty much directly across the street from the hotel (although the jailhouse is as well). I never felt threatened walking back at night as there are plenty of security officers roaming the streets as well. During the day, the hotel is very close to many things. Including the market and the St. George Cathedral. Long street is very close as well, and that's where a lot of restaurants and bars are located. I was here in October, which spring time here in Cape Town and even though the weather was very mild, the rooms are quite warm. Great little hotel, you get a lot for your money if you're on a budget. I've stayed here twice, just before Xmas and just after. I stayed in the Radisson Blu over Xmas and Townhouse was better for a fraction of the price. The Internet is good and free wifi, the breakfast is plentiful, the staff are all great. The downside is it is not by the waterfront […] area so it is a 20 min or so walk. During my 10 night stay this Jan there were building works happening next door to the hotel. If you're not going to be in your room between 9am to 5pm then it won't bother you BUT I was staying here on business and trying to get work done in my room was almost impossible due to the constant drilling. I changed room once as the drilling was so loud, I recorded it, the staff were great and helpful but then the drilling must have changed position as it started to come through again. This was on all floors, it could even be heard on the highest floor 12. I suspect this building work will continue for several months so bear this in mind when booking. Other than that I would definitely stay here again once the drilling stops! Read more

My wife and I chose Cape Town for 2012 new year's eve. we booked in advance in order to secure a well located central hotel. Townhouse is definitelly central and for that I'd definitely recommend if you are looking for safe a location, museums, street markets, and city monuments which are all walking distance. View from Table Mountain is unique. Sightseeing […] Bus Tour point is around the corner. Kitchen is very good. Negatives: Overall room cleanniness is apawling! Breakfast buffet is quite poor with not so many options if you fell like having a full british breakfast... internet speed is turtle speed slow... double deluxe room is tight and not spacious and not confy two singles beds joined together are not appropriate for married couples (you risk waking up on the ground stranded in between both!)... mini bar offered empty ... no iron board nor steam iron available... WC are tiny... no gym... small 21" TV in the room with poor channel options... several other guests said the same during our stay. Overall for a 4 star hotel there is something wrong with at least one of those stars... no more than 3 in my opinion. look around first before taking this one. Read more

Couldnt have asked for more. The hotel staff were warm and welcoming. My room was comfortable and spacious. Was a great treat to have the bed turned down each night. The restaurant is stylish and food delicious. Short walk to Long Street and Hop On Hop Off Stop 9 and 10. Will be back for sure!

The hotel is centrally located, I was staying on the 3rd floor, the carpets outside the room are just dirty and there is a strange smell, the room is just OK and small, but the bathroom looks like a max-2 star, very old and in a clear need of refresh. The restaurant is probably freshly renovated, the breakfast is definitely good and the dinner is also […] good. The Internet fails from time to time, but just go downstairs and ask them to reboot the router and everything goes back to normal. Anyways, for 80 bucks (continental breakfast included - for 20 RAND more and you get a full breakfast) is not a bad deal, as slong as you don't expect a 4-start hotel, be realistic and aim for a 2-star (and probably a 3-stars for the restaurant). Overall 3 star experience. Booked standard room (no bath tub) was small size as advertised, good shower though. Comfortable bed. Rooms clearly had a refurb in last few years. Our only negative was Air Conditioning. Looked like a very old system with low/med/hi settings and thermostat. When set on coldest temperature it was basically blowing out room […] temperature air so no cooling effect! Which is not great when summer temperatures are 30 deg C. After first night of 3, complained to staff. Great service recovery - all credit to them - they moved us into a junior suite with balcony. (it was a wkend and hotel appeared empty) Although the aircon in the suite was much the same as in only blowing room temp air, no cooling, the new room was much bigger which helped reduce stuffy/heat. Perhaps it was a hotel wide problem as we figured the system was for the whole building and each unit vents into a central duct system. They should get this fixed ASAP. Location; we chose here for price ( more than half anything near waterfront) . Location is just next to Parliament and all tourist sites 'diwntown'. Tourist open top sightseeing bus stop is just round corner, so that and combo of taxi is best way to see Capetown in few days. Area feels safe, lots of security guards. Well lit streets. Read more
