"Times Square Nugget"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 6, 2012
We really enjoyed our stay. We stayed for a week and were glad to find a hotel right in the heart of Times Square. The service was definitely top notch! The front desk was courteous and the concierge was very helpful, recommending great shows and restaurants. Our room was nice. It could've been a little larger. But the bathroom was a good size and the size of the TV's and the fact that they played HD was a bonus. Also, the bed was quite comfortable. The cleaning staff did a fine job of keeping up the room. I'll definitely recommend this hotel to others.
"Consistency. You can depend on it."Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
Finding a "GOOD THING" these days can get harder and harder. For this reason when you come across a 'good thing" it is priceless. One of the most recent "good things " that I have come across is the PARAMOUNT hotel in Times Square. The first thing that I leave the hotel impressed by is the professionalism and commitment that is demonstrated by the staff. Starting with the front desk where I was checked in by Catherine and continuing until the driver which I received at the hotel hands me my luggage at the airport. Catherine followed the details of my visit until the moment I checked out. The only dislike that I had which eventually i got over was the view of the alley where the boiler or some loud machine was placed. I know that from now on I will request a room that faces anywhere but there. If you are going to New York and plan on taking in Broadway there could not be a more perfect location. I love this hotel so much I find myself wanting to travel to NYC more. I cannot wait until my next visit to the PARAMOUNT which I hope will be in the next few weeks.
"Another Good Experience"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
My wife and I have stayed at the Courtyard in Mahwah three of the last four years to attend the NEAF astronomy show at the Rockland Community College in Suffern, just a few minutes away. We've always had good a experience and this stay was no different. The recent renovations definitely spruced the hotel up. The pool and spa area was nice, although the acoustics in the room left my ears ringing after a group of children in the pool were not using their "indoor voices." Our room was very clean, everything worked well, including the internet connection (which is a wired connection) and having a Dunkin Donuts right next door makes a stay here worthwhile in my humble opinion! Just grab a coffee and a bagel sandwich and go. The rates are competitive with other hotels in the area. If someone on here rates the hotel low, they must be comparing it to a five-star city hotel or maybe a destination resort. It's not that, but it is a clean and decent place to stay while traveling for business or short-term pleasure. I believe we will stay there again next year.

We had a very good time and the hotel was close to work.

Very nice hotel, within walking distance to subway for access to Manhattan (take the 7 or E and you can get to grand central, times square, penn station). Just a few blocks to local restaraunts. The room was very clean, excellent staff, free shuttle to subway. Overall an excellent place to stay if your touring new york city. One note, if you are considering a "view room" save your money, the view is obstructed by a number of taller buildings (the hotel is only 7 floors). Overall an excellent experience and I would definitely stay again, especially at the rate because of the new hotel discount. If you plan to take a cab from the hotel call one yourself because the service the hotel uses charges a flat rate to specific areas and you can get a cab on your own for cheaper generally.

Some bemoan that the Upper West Side has become a version of the Upper East Side. Case in point: Columbus Circle’s Time Warner Center, one of New York’s priciest real estate. The Upper West Side includes the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, the American Museum of Natural History, and Columbia University. Harlem, the legendary African American neighborhood, lies north and caps Manhattan.

"Great Hotel"
This hotel was in a very convenient location and very comfortable to stay in. The on-line registration worked fine. The think that made this hotel a real winner, however, was that the breakfast was super. The (NY) bagels were fantastic but on top of that, there were waffles, pastries, fruit, cereal, ... This was an unexpected but welcome surprise. The […] kitchenette in the room was nice too. The hotel could use a bit of maintenance, but it looked like that was being addressed. I would highly recommend this comfortable and welcoming hotel to anyone visiting the city. Read more

"Milburn"
Nice place. Very convenient. Fridge and microwave were useful. Nearby parking was reasonable with validation ($25 A DAY). Comfortable bed. Small room
"The Milburn- a great hotel"
We had a wonderful time, The hotel was within walking distants of everywhere we wanted to be close. Room was comfortable, bath nice but small.
"The Milburn Hotel in NYC"
rooms were nice, the pull-out bed was pretty terrible with a thin mattress, although I dont think the kids suffered too much. Location was awesome, just 4 or 5 blocks to get to the Museum of Natural History and Central Park. Lots of restaurants close by

"Milburn stay"
The room I was given was small, dark and reeked of cigarettes. After suffering for a hour, I called down the the desk and was promptly upgraded to a two room suite that was bright, clean and roomy. Thanks!
"The Milburn Hotel"
The Milburn Hotel worked well for the purpose of our trip. I was traveling by myself with two children. The convenience to the AMNH was ok. However, it was further than I would have liked. There was plenty of restaurants and shopping in the area which was great. It was also close to the subway which worked to our advantage. My only complaint was the […] hotel staff at the front desk. The reviews I read prior to booking my stay were mixed regarding the hotel staff. Unfortunately, I have to agree with those that had a negative experience. They were not helpful, very cold, did not smile, and in my opinion rude. After asking questions at the front desk and made to feel that I was bothering them, I chose to ask questions to fellow New Yorkers on the street, shops, and retaurants. They were more than happy to answer my questions, and even provided additional helpful tips. Our stay was not horrible, it was just the most unfriendly hotel we have ever stayed at in all of our travels. Read more
"Hotel Milburn - Perfect Location"
This is my third visit to the Hotel Milburn and I wasn't disappointed. My single room was small but comfortable and very clean. The queen bed was divine. There was a shower head issue which was fixed immediately. The people at the front desk were very helpful and my fellow guests seemed very nice. I walked everywhere (Lincoln Center, Times Square) but […] in the past I've found the Red Line (subway) to be very useful. I'll be back. Read more
"Milburn Expired"
This is a place I have stayed at in the past. No more. Its hard to get past the cockroach infested room. The other problem was a toilet that overflowed when flushed! Had to get dressed as soon as I got up so maintenance could come in to fix the problem! Not how I like to spend my time off. I think I would prefer to spend more and get more next time […] . "Nice place but expensive"
The hotel was located in middle town Manhattan, a block walk away from subway station. But no parking space if you drove there. You will be directed to a parking lot nearby but the people there will try to over-charge you. The hotel staffs were helpful but with air of superior. The room was elegant and comfortable that matched up to the price. Breakfast […] was good with high quality. Read more
"I used to live in this nabe - great location!"
I lived on Manhattan's Upper West Side for years, so I never stayed here until I moved away. This is a wonderful and safe neighborhood, and I had a room with a small kitchenette, so I saved $ on food. When I checked in (very late) I asked the front desk clerk how long he had worked there and he told me "thirty-two years." That says a lot. I'm a musician […] and the best musicians are the ones that keep their players for many years because they are happy, well paid, and love their work. When I visit NYC sleep is essential -- this is a quiet street, and the rooms that look out over the courtyard (not the street) have zero street noise. I have stayed on the side overlooking the street, and though not as quiet as the courtyard rooms, what little street noise there was didn't keep me awake. There's a bus stop 1/2 a block away and subway stop 3 blocks away, a 24-hour grocery store 1/2 a block away, too, plus a pizza joint that is very popular with the locals. I take these reviews very seriously because I live on the road -- you cannot go wrong staying here. Read more
"Milburn hotel"
Great location in a quiet neighborhood. Rooms (we had a suite) are enormous, fridge is a plus and free wifi is a bonus as well. Been there twice and will definitely return.
"Read reviews and make a decision"
After reading over a hundred reviews of hotels in the area, many favorable, quite a few very unfavorable, we made a decision to try the Milburn. Our criteria included a refrigerator, a private bathroom, and at least a queen size bed, near the park below 100th st. We were completely satisfied in all respects. We had a problem with the heat not responding. […] We reported it to the desk. It was fixed that day. We have read of people having a good stay one time and a subsequent lousy time. We will definitely return and we hope that won't happen with us. If it does I am an avid letter writer and know how to push the correct buttons, corporate, legal and publicity wise to make our displeasure known. Read more
"Good but not great"
Nice staff, stored our bags when we arrived early, very responsive to our plumbing issue: there was no cold water in the bathroom sink or tub but he the maintenance man instructed us to let the water run for a few minutes and it would get cold. The bed was comfortable, the room was large enough, and there was a kitchenette in the room. The breakfast […] was an OK continental breakfast which we had one day but went out to Starbucks the next. "Perfect Location and Comfort"
Easy walk to Subway and two grocery stores 1/2 block away. Good sized room and the kitchenette was an added bonus. GREAT staff. Have already recommended this hotel to others. The pre-WWII charm was enjoyed. - Denise
"Very nice place to stay if you visiting NYC"
PRO : Hotel location was very good also most of the staff was friendly except for the security guard for the breakfast he needs little work. CON : Swimming, Gym never seen herd you have to ask for a pass so I guess it's off site. Bed very old but soft. Microwave was very old also but some what worked (popcorn too like 3.5 mins for a small bag)
"Nice room"
Was just here for one night, nice clean room with plenty of space by New York standards. Staff was VERY friendly and helpful.
"Milburn Hotel- Upper West side"
I've stayed here at least 4-5 times, and I chose it because it gives me the feeling of being in a neighborhood. plenty of stores, restaurants nearby. My sister and I stayed here for 2 nites and had a great stay! I like the kitchenette in the room, and there's a breakfast provided in the a.m. Customer service was a little lacking: they ran out of hot […] water for tea in the aftn, and when I asked abt it, they didn't want to refill it. what's the big deal? they have 3 computers for internet access but limit you to half hr. don't know what happens if you want more time. I feel it should be free to guests. but overall I like this hotel and would recommend it. Read more
"Small, clean and convenient"
We enjoyed our stay though the bathroom was SO small that there was no convenient place for our kit bags... the little kitchenette was useful and everything very, very clean. Breakfast was standard, blah hotel fare but the waiter was very pleasant. The front desk staff could be friendlier but they were very efficient and allowed late check out which […] was helpful. We stayed in room 1109. Very nice room compared with the one on the lower floor we stayed in a previous occasion. We really like this hotel. Great location and great service. Breakfast is also good. "Milburn Hotel - a jewel on the West Side"
Just got back from our second three night stay in a month. The Milburn is a nice hotel with good service. It's not as young as some of the other hotels, but it is holding up well. The service is great and the front desk is alot of help. The location is it's biggest drawing point. A great upper West Side neighborhood,it's a great place to stroll around […] away from the maddening crowds around midtown and Times Square. Read more
"great location AND breakfast--hard to beat"
The Milburn is a nice hotel. It is in the heart of the Upper West Side. Riverside and Central Parks are an easy walk away, as is the Museum of Natural History. Broadway theaters are about 30 blocks away, so you might need a cab in the winter. Continental breakfast is good, with H&H bagels delivered in the morning.

"Very pleasant experience."
We enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning in the future. Plenty of good restaurants. We felt we had a good value price wise. Loved the proximity to subway, and Broadway Will return.
"Shoulda done it sooner"
I will stay at this hotel again when I am in the city. The location is excellent, The staff were always accomodatiing. Staff we met throughout the hotel were always cheerful. Got the suite which was well worth it. upper floor for the views,
"Absolutely Perfect"
We were seeing a show at the Beacon Theatre. This was incredibly convenient -- less than a five minute walk away! Great neighborhood -- lots of vegetarian-friendly restaurants nearby. Room was comfortable -- a little warm, but the window AC turned to fan helped that. Pleasant staff. Continental breakfast was perfect for a fast meal before heading to […] the train station. Not really great for those looking for a full, substantial meal, so some may rate it lower for that. I would absolutely stay here again and recommend this hotel. Read more
"Very nice!"
The Milburn Hotel was very nice. An older hotel yet updated. I was expecting a very small room in NYC but was very happy with the size. Great location in a wonderful neighborhood. Staff was very nice. I would definitely stay there again!
"Nice Stay"
We had a really nice time there. It is not a "fancy" hotel, but was clean and comfy. The little kitchenette really helped my family to be able to eat our own food as we have lots of food allergies. I was coming to meet my sister's family and the hotel made sure we had adjacent rooms. We also had a ton of luggage which they held all day after our morning […] checkout so that we could explore the city a little more. I would definitely stay there again. Read more

"One night at the Milburn Hotel"
The hotel is on the old side, but everything is clean and works well. The bed was large and comfortable. The room size was adequate, what I would expect for this cost in Manhattan. the rug was soaking wet our first day...and bed bugs..we had to call 911 for my mom's allergic reaction..severe welts....I'm still scratching... too bad for the hotel...they are such a great address...they are trying to remedy the problem..we did see 50 mattresses on the sidewalk going to the dumptruck when we checked out...
"excellent Upper West Side hotel"
If you want to avoid the ever-increasing congestion of Midtown Manhattan, the Milburn is an excellent Upper West Side choice. Just a short walk from the world-class performances of Lincoln Center, upscale shopping at Columbus Circle, and the old gourmet standards Zabar's and Fairway, this neighborhood has lost none of its charm and character, unlike […] other parts of Disneyfied New York. "Visit on 10/7 to 10/11/11"
Staff was knowledgeable and helpful. Room was clean and ready when we arrived. On 10/10/11 the bed was made, but the number of towels that were replaced were less than necessary. The Milburn is a wonderful hotel in a great location close to the subway, restaurants, Central Park, and museums. The bed was very comfortable. The only downside was the sink in the bathroom.
