"Hotel Elliott, Astoria, OR - visit if you can!"
In these days of the omnipresence of chains, it was great to stay in a hotel which shows a bit of independence. This hotel is nicely located in the centre of Astoria, in an area built in the 1920s and which retains much of that period feel. The Elliott isn't overly ostentatious, but the rooms are nicely decorated and very comfortable, whilst many of […] the period details have been retained. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the rate was fair - we would definitely stay here again. Read more
It was an excellant hotel with lots to do within walking distance.

Great older boutique hotel that has been very nicely redone. We enjoyed our stay.

"Heated floors"
My boyfriend and I decided last minute. Well a week prior to get out to the coast. We spent the day in cannon Beach then headed to Astoria. Easy to find and we were able to park right in front until the next day. I love buildings that are full of architecture and historical, you will find yyourself surrounded by such in Astoria. We were on the 3rd floor. […] Room was fantastic. Comfortable decorated with style and when I stepped in the bathroom I was surprised to find a warm floor under my feet. Heated controls to your satisfaction. And thank you for stocking toiletries from aveeda. Just a nice treat. Thank you for the pleasant coffee also. If you are looking for a great view this is not it. "Heated floors"
What a treat to come in from a chill and step into the bathroom on heated tiles. Love it, and it's up to you to adjust the level of heat. Our room was on level 3 and it was just your average room. No special view. The room was emaculate and I enjoyed the coffee in the room and love the fact they stock the rooms with aveeda products. Thank you hotel […] elliot for all the character you provided. We will back. Read more

Nice rooms with nice views. Rooms have great sound proofing. Friendly staff. Breakfast is nothing special, but works. Parking is in a lot down the block (not far).
"Amazing hotel with just a few inconvenient issues."
We got a room over the St. Patrick weekend, and it was pretty empty. I don't remember seeing many people except for the front desk employees. Our room was cozily small, but the bed was out of this world amazing! Seriously. It's their claim to fame! However, one big inconvenience is that our room did not have a small refrigerator or a microwave. Only […] because it would have been nice to bring 'home' our leftovers for the short weekend to munch on later would have been a nice option. There was some construction in the main lobby to make it larger, but we didn't notice any noise associated with that, or any issues. The lobby is small at this time, but has vintage charm & the coolest part of all is the photo of the hotel sometime in the 1900's....the coolest photo & piece of history! We LOVED the location of this hotel, though! Close to the best cafes around, and a fair walk to the waterfront! The only other point that would deter us from booking there again is the price point. While we're sure it costs a pretty penny for this piece of property & such....it's hard to justify the prices they charge on their direct website sometimes in this economy. So...we booked through hotels.com for that reason. We were able to book the night for much less. It made it worth the booking for us! OH...and did I mention that the bathroom floor was HEATED?????? Sweet!!!!! {smile} Read more
"Classic Astoria Hotel: elegance and comfort"
Have loved every stay we've had here. Truly embracing beds and other creature comfotrs Location is superb and Astoria is a wonderous water refuge
"Nice place"
We have been here before and will again.
"AWESOME STAY!!"
My husband and I stayed in a suite that over looked the Columbia River. The room had ever amenity you could possibly imagine and it made our stay extremely enjoyable! I would highly recommend Hotel Elliot!
"Close to everything!"
The people were SO friendly and helped with everything that I needed. The room may be smaller but it was clean and nice. I would go back in a heart beat!!
"Hotel Elliot, Astoria, Oregon"
Overall an excellent experience. Clean, cozy, and located right in the middle of the very interesting Astoria downtown. Our only suggestion for improvement would be to rethink their 4:00 PM check-in. They would not let us check in before then, even though it seemed that they were not that busy and should have had at least one room cleaned earlier.
"Awesome hotel!"
I would recommend this hotel to everyone one I know. The staff was nice and the room was clean and comfy!

"Upgrades are improving"
This is a restored hotel with a romantic feel and nice touches like the Aveda salon products and room robes. However, the rooms are very small and have no closets. The beds are nice, and the staff is friendly and helpful. I Stayed at this hotel a year ago and came back again because I wanted to avoid the "same old chain hotels." They have added some […] nice improvements since then (bar and exercise room). The new owners continue to make additional improvements. The rooftop garden is beautiful in the summer or on a clear day and has great views. This is a great place for a romantic weekend or a business traveler. I wouldn't take my family to this hotel, though, because it is not designed with family amenities. If you are looking for something that has a lot of charm and character, this place is it. Read more
"Hotel Elliott Astoria - Neither Nor"
We had a pleasant stay at the Elliott and it was clean and charming with courteous staff. The room we had just didn't seem well thought-out. For example, there was a television cabinet...but the television wasn't in the cabinet, the ironing board was. And no wardrobe to hang clothing. So, nothing wrong with the place, but just got the impression that […] the implementation was half-baked. Read more

Great staff, the location is perfect and the hotel is older, but lovely.

centrally located and within easy walking distance of quality dining.
Stay was okay. Room not as described and very small. Paid additional to upgrade. No fridge or microwave in rooms seems odd this day and age. "Complimentary breakfast" was a joke with a few tables with grab and go type items in the dark basement.

"Early morning? Don't Stay here"
I stayed in a room (#204) that had loud steam pipes right outside that kept me up all night. Not good when you have to get up at 6 a.m. Also received a late night and early morning phone call and no one was on the line. Room was excessively warm too.

"Hotel Elliott in Astoria, Oregon"
I just had to stay at the Hotel Elliott; it was perfectly located in downtown Astoria, surrounded by great restaurants from across the street to a few blocks away. (Fort George Brewery is a few blocks away, and the Bowpicker a few blocks further. These are just two of many places to eat and drink that are a stone's throw from the Hotel Elliott.) Aside […] from comestibles and brews, most of Astoria's historic museums are within easy walking distance. And the waterfront is just a few minutes away. Hotel Elliott has fast wired Ethernet in each room and wi-fi in public areas. Also, there is a marvelous rooftop plaza to enjoy during good weather. My only gripe is that the windows did not have screens. I was there during nice weather, had the windows open for fresh air, and wondered what might fly into my room. Read more
"Hotel Elliot, a wonderful stay!"
We're 33 and 30 years old. The bed was amazing! Nice old fashion smaller room. The bonuses for us were the table fan, nice bath robes, heated or cooled floors and a heatlamp in the bathroom. The shower was large for the size of the bathroom. Nice granite countertops. Nice selection at the continental breakfast. The rooftop terrace was nice, chairs and […] a firepit with an awesome lookout at the river. Friendly staff. We liked the location alot. It was close to a couple brewerys, the river, and Astoria's shopping. We'd recommend the wet dog brewery for food and beverages. We are definately going back to the hotel elliot. We visited in begining of september. Read more
"Hotel Elliot"
Over priced, under sized, weekend parking in summer is terrible due to farmer's market. Not all rooms have air conditioning. If you like "Historic" this may be your place but it was not mine!

"Elliott Hotel in Astoria"
Everything was fine except that I had the sinking feeling that the sheets had not been changed. They were wrinkled and not taut on the bed. It was most disconcerting to complain to the hotel clerk and receive a vague and unconcerned response. I would not recommend this hotel.
"Great space, ambience, and location"
We had a fantastic first visit to Astoria, made all the more special by Hotel Elliott's attention to detail. From the heated bathroom floors to the rooftop fire pit where we enjoyed our last glasses of Oregon wine for the evening, our visit was exceptionally satisfying.
There was only one problem really, when we stepped outside our very wonderful room, the hotel had a "funky" unpleasant aroma. This was true all hours of the day.
"rooftop"
wonderful rooftop deck.A great view for just watching the sunset.
"Wow, what a great experience!"
It was a great getaway. Perfectly located to town, other sites and the trolley. Nice people. We will do it again.
"Hotel Elliott in Astoria: luxury, peace and quiet"
The Hotel Elliott was one of the highlights of our Oregon vacation. The staff was warmly welcoming, not batting an eyelash at the idea of two men sharing a bed (as gay travelers, we're always on the lookout for an awkward or hostile reaction, especially in smaller cities). The location is ideal, walking distance to a number of good restaurants (we […] enjoyed Clemente's for dinner and Astoria Coffee House & Bistro for breakfast) and interesting shops, as well as the waterfront trolley, the maritime museum, the Flavel House, etc. The room was tasteful, and not too small; the bathroom was quite nice, with Aveda amenities, a walk-in shower (no tub), and a heated floor. The rooftop deck is a wonderful place to visit early in the morning or at sunset--with the town spread out before you, ships in the river and a fantastic view of the bridge to Washington. Although it's only a half block from the main drag, the hotel is quiet at night--we had no problem sleeping, even with open windows. We used a fan, as the hotel does not have central air (nor does it need it, in this climate). My only quibble was with the mattress, which was a little softer than we like it. We passed on the continental breakfast--we prefer something a little more elaborate. It didn't even have yogurt, only cereal and some baked goods. That aside, I can heartily recommend this property. "Hotel Elliot - packed with character"
My wife and I loved our stay at the Hotel Elliot and hope to return again soon. The building itself is character laden and beautiful. The rooms have tasteful contemporary updates and the staff was both helpful and pleasant. I particularly enjoyed the hotel's downtown location, since it was within walking distance to multiple dining options and museums. […] I would highly recommend this hotel to everyone. Read more
"Way over priced."
Noisey. Eveyrtime somone used the elevator it sounded like someone was rolling a bowling ball down the hall. Room was very small, cramped. Just your typical continental breakfest. I was expecting more for this price. Fortunatley I got there early enough so I could cancel my 2nd night without penalty. I will give them credit though for a decent fitness […] room. Out of the 7 or 8 paces I stayed over a 2 week period it was the most well equipped. Read more
"Beach head for the Pearl District"
The Mark Spencer is an old hotel. It has thin walls and not a lot of anemities. However it is a block from Powell's bookstore across the street from Kenny and Zukes. That's why you stay there. The location.
"Perfect birthday hotel"
I spent the last night of my twenties at the Eliot and it was wonderful. Nothing beats relaxing in the sun on a rooftop overlooking Astoria. Such a beautiful place!!
"Great View"
We enjoyed are stay. The rooftop deck was great would have been better if it stayed open later. Beds were very hard and uncomfortable. No air condition in the room. But great views
Great condition for historic hotel. Nice sunset view from rooftop deck. Convenient location to restaurants.

"Lovely Experience"
A wonderful restored hotel. A lot of thought went into the reuse of space. So glad that we stayed here.
Great locations. Several rstaurants are nearby. Sunday market, that is right by the hotel, was fun too.
"Great location and very nice place"
older, but tastefully rennovated. Rooms are a bit smaller, but nicely appointed and very comfrotable. Staff was knowledgable. Close to all the interesting things in the city. Highly recommended for those who want a non-chain experience.
The hotel elliott is a great place to stay. It's right in the center of town, walking distance to all the dining and shopping. The hotel has a wonderful rooftop patio, a terrific place to eat clam chowder and sourdough rolls from a local restaurant, and watch the sun set to the west. It has a 360 degree view of the town, mountains, and the columbia […] river. The rooms are a little small but very clean, the beds are extremely comfortable, and the bathroom is warm and inviting, especially the heated tiles. I would definitely recommend the hotel, and we will be back! Read more
