"Quiet room requested-got room next to ice machine"
For a hefty room charge per night, one would expect better treatment especially since our stay, on November 16 and 17, was not during peak season. I booked a suite but was given a room that had no separate living room -- seemed like a slightly bigger standard room with couch and armchair. What was worse is that I specifically requested a quiet room […] -- but was given a room next to the ice machine - this is the biggest insult. By then, I was too tired from my travels to complain and ask to be moved -- just decided I would never come back to the Sanctuary at Kiawah Island, SC. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

beautiful resort, lovely grounds,,,,,but the cost for a standard room was too much for what you got, and the pools were nice but very underwhelming.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

The Sanctuary is a beautiful 5 star property. Our room was ocean front with a beautiful balcony. We toured the property on bikes and took a kayaking tour. Food was wonderful as well. The only complaint we had was they were having a function on the front lawn one evening and they sat up a make shift kitchen right in front of our room,
"Love the Sanctuary at Kiawah"

I have now been to the Sanctuary three times and I have not been disappointed. Beautiful rooms, great pool and beach, and access to all that Kiawah Island has to offer. Most rooms have some ocean view and are worth the price. Great Spa and fitness center and of course The Ocean Course. One of my favorite golf vacation spots. We are heading back in early November
"Great family vacation"

We just finished a tremendous vacation at Kiawah. We usually rent a condo for our family but decided to splurge and stay at the Sanctuary. We were glad we did! Activities were much more accessible - pools and beach, without taking a shuttle or bikes. Also, we took advantage of special concierge package with breakfast, lunch and snacks served in lounge. Food was excellent and so convenient. Service is amazing - one of best beach vacations we've ever had. Highly recommend; it's a beautiful spot. Only downside is several of restaurants seemed overpriced for the food - and not great for kids. We had to be picky about finding spots for dinner. The Ocean Club Bar/Grill is a great choice for view and food.
"It really doesn't get much better"
Our stay was too short, and we didn't get to experience as much as we would have liked. Every person at the resort is smiling and helpful, and leave you wanting nothing. The brunch at the Jasmine room was fantastic, and I highly recommend the wait for the made to order omelet. Worth every penny!

Wow! Romantic vacation for us as our kids were all away at camp. The best golf for my husband, the best spa for me, and the best food and drink for both of us! Sunset Cruise at Mingo Point with Jake was the best...got to see dolphins "strand" feeding! That was probably a once in a lifetime thing for us. We were able to stay on the 5th floor with the lounge service..worth the splurge! But still would have been very happy in a normal room...this place IS casual elegance at its' best. Got to have an ocean front room..loved it...but after staying here I see that all the rooms would be awesome..heck...even the ones with no ocean view are in for a treat....they are facing the prettiest palm tree-lined elegant drive imaginable! Loved the pool, beach, restaurants.

We stayed at the Sanctuary on a whim after a business trip in NC. BEST decision ever! From the moment we stepped foot onto the property, we were beyond pleased. We were traveling with our 2 year old and felt that the hotel was very family friendly. We loved the little water park and pools. My only complaint might be the temperature....Slightly chilly waters. Definitely not heated. My son didn't mind one bit though and that's all that mattered. Our room was gorgeous and overlooked the pool and ocean. The bed was one of the most comfortable hotel beds we've slept in in a long time. The turndown service was great. I loved the little chocolates in the evening with bottled water and the weather and itinerary bulletin for the following day. Such a nice touch! Overall the staff were informative and accommodating. The Ocean Room was nice as well as The Jasmine Porch. We ordered room service multiple times and enjoyed most of our selections. One random tip would be not to try and "explore" the island without a pass from valet. The man at the gate guarding the Ryder Cup bar and plantation area was not that friendly but of course he was just doing his job. Overall the atmosphere, service, hospitality and accommodations were beyond impressive and we hope to visit again sooner than later!!!

The service at The Sanctuary is second to none. I highly recommend the brunch at Jamine's Porch. Every service we tried spa, food, drinks, pools, sunbathing was outstanding. Our room was gorgeous. This is our first stay and we are definitely going back. Paradise with service.
"Fantastic beach getaway"

My husband and I just spent 3 days at this fantastic resort. The beach and pool areas were amazing. Since we were not traveling with our children the adult pool was an added bonus. The pool staff was always there offering you ice cold water and lemon before you even had a chance to ask. The one thing to keep in mind is that you are really held captive when it comes to eating at the resort. There are several options for dining at the resort, restaurants and golf clubs. It gets very very expensive to eat here. However the food happens to be very good. A great resort if you are willing to splurge
"Amazing Wedding/Family trip"

Stayed here with almost all of my family and cousins and friends for one of my cousin's wedding. Absolutely beautiful hotel; we stayed in one of the villas, a little slice of paradise overlooking one of the golf courses and canal filled with crocodiles!!!! The people were amazing and the food was great. The facilities were awesome especially the pool areas. We played on the ocean course here which I highly recommend making reservations way in advance as it is one of the worlds most prestigious golf courses, and bring bug spray!! Flight was easy getting in although a bit of a trip from the airport to the hotel but well worth it.
"Fantastic Anniversary Celebration"
07/21/14 Matt L Charlotte, North Carolina
The Sanctuary was a great choice in getting away and being pampered for our anniversary. The resort certainly has amazing activities and great golf courses, but they are also excellent if you just want to be pampered. The spa was fantastic as well. We left saying that this was a better trip than our international all-inclusive honeymoon trip.
