The staff at the hotel were very friendly. The room service lady was polite and punctual. The concierge gave a great tip for a blues place. The room had a few little things that needed to be fixed: 1) vanity mirror in bathroom about to fall off 2) mini frig cabinet door sticks; causes drawers to get stuck 3) curtains didn't close all the way (hard […] to sleep in). The TV stopped working and they came right away to fix that. For me, the bed/pillows were extremely uncomfortable but they were fine for my boyfriend. The location was perfect. Close to everything you want to do downtown. And if you need to take the "L", there were plenty of stations nearby. CVS right across the street. The Hard Rock hotel was in a great area of Chicago. Close to all of the major attractions. Very simple room, but was fine for us since we were out and about most of the day. Cost for room service was bit high. $5.00 per can of soda and small selection of food was unexpected at 11 PM. A Turkey Sandwich, 2 salads, 2 cans of Pepsi with delivery and Grat was $71.46. I have stayed at this location before and it was MUCH better before. The room this time was not very clean. The shower needs to be recaulked as its partially missing and what is there is dirty. There are greasy hand prints (i assume thats what it is) on the walls near the bed. We asked for decaf coffee from room service and received regular (when i […] called the front desk they got us some decaf). I attempted to get ice on several floors but the machines weren't working. I asked for assistance and was told 'they probably aren't turned on' and then the worker went on with his business. And you have to pay for wi-fi. "A bit worn around the edges but great service"
Hotel is showing it's age a bit, at least indoors (the exterior is gorgeous) with worn curtains and some chipped tiles, etc. But overall it's nice. Room was DARK (painted dark with dark curtains) but comfortable. Linens on bed are nice, lots of comfy pillows. Towels were super scratchy. My room had a window in the bathtub. "Not the best"

Upon initial presentation it seemed modern, clean, and comfortable. room was spacious and hotel is centrally located. disappointment quickly took over as noticed the condition and comfort of room was definitely lacking. Bed Had noticeably worn out mattress and not very comfortable. The tv channels kept going out and volume shifted significantly between […] channels, at one point changed the channel to a much louder one and then had difficulty getting the remote to work. Biggest shock came when called the front desk as we struggled to get the thermostat to effectively cool the room. We kept turning down the temp but it kept shutting off- that's when front desk informed us that there is no air conditioning and that if we wanted to cool the room we could 'try by turning off the thermostat and opening the windows'! Bc hotel is centrally located we had no choice but to open the windows which did cool room BUT we were then faced trying to sleep with city sounds complete with frequent sirens, honking horns, yelling passsersby, and early morning construction. Not much sleep was had. Will not be staying here again and learned the lesson of reputable name does not guarantee related and appropriate amenities... Another tip- don't forget your toothpaste.
