The people were nice, a little slow at getting extra pillows we asked for (for 2days). The 2nd night we were there was a Saturday. It was HORRIBLE. There were people running, yelling and banging on the doors in the hallway. We had to call the front desk TWICE!! The other guests were obnoxious for it being "off peak" season. The pool area needed maintenance […] badly. There was huge cracks and chipping in the walls by the windows and what looked like mold on the ceiling of the pool area. I was disappointed. Old, old hotel. It needs to be remodeled badly. Who places an air conditioner across the room and the bed furthest from it? We were boiling at night and it was early November. The desk staff was mostly rude, or at best, cold. My room was right outside the Housekeeping office, which has a broken door that would slam constantly as staff went in and out. We arrived at our hotel room door and keys did not work, had to ask housekeeping to let us in. later when went to front desk, long line of people that were not being helped quickly. Great location and large suites. We stay at the Cove nearly everytime we visit Lake Geneva. Staff is always friendly and the rooms comfortable. Located right on the lake, this resort is just a couple blocks from downtown shopping.

Overall the hotel was fine. Great location if you want to be in the middle of a resort town. On-site restaurant is privately owned and opens at 11:00 am...so no other hotel restaurant for breakfast...even coffee except for the room coffee maker.

Loved the location and the views. Fireplace and Jacuzzi tub were great for our 25th wedding anniversary celebration. Private walk out balconies were comfortable and it a great indoor/outdoor experience. The pool/sauna and Hot Tub were all in great shape and the outdoor pool was closed for the season but looked very nice too. Downtown Lake Geneva is so close you do not need move your car to check all the great shopping, drinking and dining. Really liked the room, the condition and the upkeep. I also found the staff to be wonderful and helpfull. The German restaurant attached was also wonderful. There was a loud mechanical noise from somewhere, a generator possibly that kept me awake a good portion of the night. I rarely get away for the weekend due to my work schedule so not being able […] to sleep was unacceptable. I did have a major issue with with what was considered to be a fitness room. The equipment was old, difficult to use or broken. This day in age, not to have twice the amount and absolutely no exercise bikes is unacceptable. On top of that, I had a hard time swimming laps in the pool because it was so cloudy/dirty I couldn'e see the wall...with googles on! The pluses of this hotel are it's location, ample parking, conveniently attached iconic Sprecher restaurant, and the friendliness of the staff. The room we were in was an Anchor Suite located on the 2nd floor. Here are the pluses: 1. The decor and the colors of this room were charming, 2. The room had a kitchenette that was stocked with cooking tools […] and dining ware. 3. The room had 2 TVs. 4. The suite area had a couch pull out bed. 5. The balcony faced the main parking lot with a small view of the lake. The minuses: 1. The bed was located immediately near the front door. All the hallway traffic noise could be heard from the bed making sleeping near impossible. 2. There was a hair on the bathtub & toilet. The phones were dusty & greasy, as were the sides of the TV. 3. The room had a wretching stench (beer/smoke/mold) that was overpowering. We aired out the room & purchased Febreeze to spray around, however, to no avail. Despite the non-smoking designation on the room's door, the room had a very strong odor. The worn carpeting and general age of the hotel are factors. 4. On the 1st floor by the pool, there is a very strong sewer/bathroom odor. This was true for the 2 days we were there. 5. The lobby & genearl decor of the hotel is very utilitarian. It feels like a non-descript, multi-unit senior home with metal railings, no pictures on the walls in the lobby. Barely keeping up with it's probable age. 6.
