This hotel came exactly as described. While not inexpensive (what is in Venice) it certainly delivered in what we were looking for. Not wanting to schlep bags all over the streets & bridges, we loved that this hotel was just a short hop over the main bridge, by the train station. Then, after checking in you're free to explore unencumbered. The staff was always cordial and eager to help in any way. And while we were prepared with our own restaurant recommendations, they were quick to confirm what lay in store for us at each eatery. The room was totally adequate in size & the bathroom was nicely appointed. We chose a canal view room which was a bit pricey but hey, when in Venice. Also, Venice is so easily accessible by foot and water bus that you don't need to stay near San Marco Square. This place really fit our bill as far as being conveniently located, nicely appointed, friendly and helpful staff, nice views. I totally recommend this hotel if it's in your budget.

It is also close to the water taxi station and gondola station yet away from the crowds of the Rialto Bridge and San Marcos Square, which were easily within walking distance. The room was larger than I expected and the breakfast each morning was enjoyable from the street-side tables. Would definitely stay there again.

This hotel is in the perfect location (very close to the bus station and across the street from the train station and water taxi). We were traveling with our family, including my father (89 years old and using a wheel chair). We had reserved 3 rooms and upon our early arrival, the staff immediately allowed us to check into 2 of our 3 rooms, even giving my father a room on the 2nd floor. The buffet breakfast was well worth the extra price considering how high prices can be in Venice. Everyone on staff was extremely accomodating to our questions and needs. We will definitely stay in this hotel again when we return to Venice.

Our visit was in April, 2009. The most welcome sight after exiting the train in a downpour was looking across the Grand Canal and realizing our hotel was so close!!! You can't beat the location. The next best thing was the staff -- when we were inquiring if there was a Chinese restaurant on the island (I know, strange request, but our daughter who met us in Venice had been studying abroad in Italy for 3 months and was SO hungry for Chinese food!)the guy at the desk said, "just a minute, I'll find out." Then he actually ran out the front door of the hotel and down the street to ask a Chinese guy who worked in a store!! We couldn't believe it! They were SO accommodating. Our room would have been fine for two, but since our daughter was with us, they crammed in a roll-away bed next to the Queen bed which they pushed against the wall. There was absolutely no space left to maneuver in the room. (We had requested a room for 3 people -- this was the solution.) However, it didn't bother us at all -- we weren't in the room except to sleep. Didn't have a view, either, but that also wasn't an issue. The free internet in the lobby was also nice. No complimentary breakfast, but we just grabbed something as we were exploring. A tip - consider getting some sandwiches "to go" from a cafe or vendor and eating them sitting dock-side on the lagoon right by the Palazzo Ducal -- an experience and a view we'll never forget. Also, if you inquire about a gondola ride, find out the price and then tell him you'll think about it and start to walk away, I assure you he'll come down 20 Euro! We didn't do it to bargain -- we truly weren't sure if we wanted to go then or later, but he ran after us and knocked the 20 Euro off, so we said ok! We took the cheaper gondola ride of the inner canals, and it was so beautiful and peaceful -- we'd already seen the Grand Canal from the Rialto Bridge anyway.

This hotel is right near the bus terminal and across from the bus terminal which is a really good location-if you get a good map, you could find 2 little bridges to cross rather than 2 giant bridges to drap luggage. The hotel staff could not have been nicer and worked hard to help us. My husband was on a different flight and got there late- the hotel staff kept me informed of what was going on. Gave us good recomendations for dinner. They had a very nice breakfast buffet that you could not beat. The best way to get around Venice is on foot or the vaporetto is across the grand canal- the #2 is the express and the #1 is the local. Both are fabulous. If you wander, you find lots of great places to eat and shop. The rooms are very typical of European hotel rooms, but I would really recomend that you stay here and save your money for all those jewelry shops.

We stayed at the Antiche Figure for two nights last week, our perspective, we hope, will help those travelling with children. The hotel is absolutely beautiful but we expected that considering the price we paid for the extra bed for the boys in the suite. The hotel is opposite the train station -but across the water from it. Therefore we had to carry all our luggage down a while until we found a bridge to cross! We weren't expecting that, my husband was so hot and sweaty on our arrival! At all the previous hotels on our stay I had made sure that breakfast was included so the kids could eat when they got up. On arrival I asked where breakfast was served and they showed me. On departure, they told us we owed for breakfast for three days. Well, considering how incredibly expensive Italy is I was upset. They were supposed to tell us at check-in but forgot! In conclusion, the hotel is lovely but when travelling with chilren the other things kind of "got in the way" for us.

The hotel is very clean and staff accommodating. Every morning they asked what they could do for us and when we requested softer pillows they were in our room that night. I had a superior double for one with a view of the alley. Since the alley is so narrow, you could pratically reach the neighboring building; but this would be the case many places--narrow streets are common in Venice. The room size was adequate. The bathroom had nice fixtures. However, the bed linens did not feel all that clean. The hotel staff was alright: they were nice enough to give me a map and show me some places on it, but I did not feel they had the greatest attitude. They are close to the train station after you go over a steep bridge. Shop around though; they are not spectacular, so carefully consider competitive rates.

From the moment we walked through the doors and were greeted by the wonderfully friendly staff, our stay at the Hotel Antiche Figure was a great one. Because we chose to visit during a low tourist season (early December), we received a great rate, and an even better value to upgrade to a canal view room. I was very impressed with the size and comfort of our room. For Europe, the room was very decently sized (I believe we ended up in one of the 'deluxe' accommodations). The bed was much softer and more comfortable than any I have previously experienced in many, many hotels all over Italy. Our room was decorated with charming Murano glass light fixtures, and a luxurious bathroom (complete with shockingly hot water -- a serious plus after wandering the cold streets for hours). We were even brought preparations for hot tea to our room, without request. The staff at the Antiche Figure was warm, friendly and more than willing to provide restaurant recommendations, or to set up tours of various attractions. They went out of their way to be the most helpful and gracious. I cannot state strongly enough how positive our experience was at the Hotel Antiche Figure. I WILL be recommending this hotel to any friends or family who may travel to Venice. Do yourself a favor -- stay at this hotel! Grazie mille, Antiche Figure, for a wonderful memory of Venice!!
