Everything was lovely about our stay! The hotel staff are extremely friendly and let us check out about two hours late because our lunch ran late. They let us borrow bikes, which you can use at a nearby loop overlooking the Charles River. My group consisted of 3 adult males. I reserved a room with 2 double beds and a cot through expedia. When we went to check in I was told that all that was available was a room with 1 king sized bed and a cot. We travelled from Maine for 4 hours to visit the city of Boston and this was a "very uncomfortable" situation to be put into. "Great boutique style hotel"
This hotel is great, easy walk to tons of great bars, restaurants, Quincy Market, Beacon hill, little Italy, etc. The room was on the smaller side and the window faced the other side of the hotel, but it was nice and wicked smaht. We stayed at the Onyx due to the location to the TD Garden when we saw Katy Perry. The Onyx was a quick 8 minute walk to the Garden. GREAT GREAT GREAT location. Lots of places to eat nearby. Regarding the rollaway bed, the reason we are not able to accommodate a rollaway in a room with two beds is due to the lack of space in case of an emergency. All hotel rooms should have sufficient space to move and exit a room in case an emergency arises. You have a valid point in that this is not mentioned, so I will be sure to amend that. It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't great either. The staff is really friendly, the room/amenities are clean, and it's in a good location. Other than that there isn't much to gloat about. Took the Downeaster to north station prior to flying home from vacation for a couple days in Boston. Staff was extremely friendly. "Do Not Stay Here"
For her birthday my daughter asked to go whale watching, so we planned a short family vacation to Boston. The valet parking managed to ruin our vacation when their staff damaged my car. If the matter would have been resolved professionally I would not be leaving this feedback. However after assuring us that everything would be taken care of by both […] hotel staff and valet staff they failed to communicate with us as promised, and when they did only by email, refused to provide a direct phone number to the person handling the claim. Furthermore they denied any responsibility for the damage and went as far as to claim that the damage was in fact old, despite 3 of their staff members being present at the incident. "Great hotel, but problems all over"
The hotel is really nice. It is pet-friendly. The bed is really comfy and bathroom is super clean. I really love the place, but had 3 problems during my stay. My reservation was for a King bedroom with free wifi. When I got to my room, it's a 2-queen-bed room. I thought they just ran out of rooms. I couldn't find any wifi information, so I called front […] desk. They said I had to sign up for the Kimpton Club or pay for the internet. I said my reservation included free wifi. Then, they gave me a code and quickly disconnected me. The code did not work. So, I just signed up for the Kimpton Club in the end. The second problem was I got a phone call an hour after checking in. They said they were sorry they put me in the wrong room. So, they had to switch my room right now. At that time, I thought it was great because the view in my room sucked. So, the staff came to my room and took my credit card and room key and gave me a new room key at an upper floor. I got to the other room, which was perfect. Way better view outside. The third problem was I checked my credit card statement after I got back home. There's a charge from the hotel. I immediately called the hotel to find out that the charge was for an umbrella that I took. What? I took an umbrella? I didn't even know there's an umbrella. So, they reversed the charge. If you want to hang out for a bit, you'll find that there isn't a comfortable chair in the place. The lobby/lounge chairs look nice, but aren't so comfortable... and that's about it as far as places to sit. This hotel is prefectly located, with easy access to public transportation (the T and trolley cars for touring the historical sites). It is just off the beaten path which was nice for us (very easy to get to everything, even walking to many places was easy), and yet it was a little less crowded. Took the T from the airport and walked a block to the hotel. The main street across from the Garden had a number of homeless people begging for money but I guess that's to be expected in a big city. We came into town for the Boston Calling music festival and found the Onyx a very comfortable and convenient hotel (easy walking to Faneuil Hall, etc.). The decor is modern, masculine and new. The employees were cordial and informed, eager to help. Booked the hotel to attend an event at the TD arena and it was well located for that as well as access to the North End restaurants - 15 minute walk. We were extremely frustrated with the aggressive high-tech thermostat that kept turning the heat on when we just wanted the AC off and then would turn the AC on if all we wanted was the heating to be off. I booked 2 rooms through Expedia for The Onyx. Not happy with the $47 valet parking fee. I wish that the price could have been cheaper or included in the hotel price. There is a parking garage a block away, but when your traveling with bags it's hard to park and walk back to the hotel.
