Overall, a nice, quiet hotel. Staff were helpful and friendly. There is a pleasant common area with couches and tables, and a computer you can use. They also have free wifi. The free breakfast was pretty good. Note that you cannot quickly walk to the beach from there. On the map, it appears very close to the beach, but you aren't allowed to walk on […] the golf course behind the hotel. So you either have to drive/take a cab, or walk about 30 minutes to the nearest beach. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great Budget Hotel for the frugal traveler."
I had to move from my all inclusive to a discount hotel the last 2 days of my vacation. The Hotel was safe and solid if you have your own form of transportation. Waiting for a taxi wasn't bad. This Hotel was a perfect local and place for a stay at a non inclusive Budget Hotel. The price was excellent. Beach Access was less than ideal.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Close to 5th Avenue"
The hotel was very beautiful and the staff was very friendly and kind. The Royal Suite was very big and perfect for our family. And I can't wait to go back next year!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Needs better signage, facilities need upgrade"
We drove up to Playa in our own vehicle and had difficulty finding the place. We recognized the hotel from the pictures on the website, there weren't any signage. It is a little secluded, which could be a good thing, but there isn't much to do at the hotel if you're staying for more than a day or two. The pool is small for the size of the hotel and […] with the extensive useage, especially through midday (after 2:00 p.m. the place is isolated) the water felt dirty. We stayed in the Royal Suite and it was spacious and comfortable. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"The Hotel was just a 20 minute walk from Shopping"
It was very nice. Clean rooms and nice comfy bed. We were just a 20 minute walk from shopping and Restaurants Downtown. The Breakfast Buffet was fresh and delicious. While the location was a little hard to find, once we figured it out, we realized how central it was to all the attractions. Rent a car and venture the beaches, the ruins etc.Genuine Expedia guest review
We stayed 4 nights in Playa Del Carmen so we could be close to the Eco Parks (Xcaret/Xel-Ha). When we visited last year, we loved the eco-parks and stayed at the hotel adjacent to Xcaret, which was beautiful, but was also all-inclusive which cost much more. We were not fans of the food there, and preferred to eat at the parks this time, so wanted to […] find a different hotel (not all inclusive) that was nearby, and large enough for 4 of us. We had a car to get around so, although it is not close walking distance to Playa Del Carmen...the actual beach area/town, I much preferred it because that area feels a little sketchy to me, and I didnʻt see any really nice places to stay in that area anyway. This hotel is right in the middle of a golf course, beautiful...it feels traditional and older in style....almost like you were visiting a wealthy friend from an earlier time period who build a large home to welcome friends and family. Rooms are very large, we had a suite, which almost felt too big for only the 4 of us. Full kitchen, living room, dining area, master suite and additional room with 2 beds. Love the outside, and the grounds, landscaping. The interior decor is not really my style, little out dated. My kids took a photo above bed area which looked like a shell, they were pretending to be mermaids. Colors are pink/coral and off white. I think others may find it very charming. Breakfast buffet is included. Price is very affordable. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"I go here every year! Love, love, love this hotel."
Bottom line: I wouldn't stay anywhere else. This is a hidden gem in Playa Del Carmen. Stellar service, fantastic food, very comfortable, spacious and quiet rooms, and their suites are amazing! I got the best rate through Hotels.com. If you're renting a car, they have on-site free parking, and it's easy to get in and out of the lot. I would highly recommend […] their spa - the prices are reasonable, and the ambience is very relaxing. Time well spent! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great quiet location; great pool."
The hotel was located in a secluded and closely guarded area in Playacar. It was wonderfully quiet, and surrounded by a beautiful golf course. The 20-minute walk in to Playa Del Carmen for dinner was quite pleasant; the exercise was welcome because we always eat too much in Mexico. We enjoyed the morning complementary breakfast; there was a good variety […] and always plenty of everything. The suite we rented was spacious and attractive and well-kept. Our only complaint was that the beds are truly too hard. Get softer beds and we will stay longer next time. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Family vacation in Playa Del Carmen"
The hotel is very nice, clean and in a quiet location. The rooms were comfortable but lacked some basic amenities. For example, our room had a full kitchen but had no coffee pot, pots or pans or even dish towels. They provided dish soap, glasses, plates and cutlery. The pool bar closed at 3pm and there was no entertainment available at the hotel. The […] beds were very comfortable and spacious. Bathrooms were clean but there were no facecloths, and occasionally there was hot water in the toilet. Overall if you are looking for a quiet relaxing hotel only 5 minutes drive from down town Playa Del Carmen then this is the hotel for you. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Extremely Disappointed...Won't Stay Here Again!"
Stayed here March 2014. We stayed here the last 2 days of our visit to the area with the intention of just relaxing and recuperating from our stays at Cozumel and Playa Del Carmen before heading back to the States. The stay did not prove restful with the most uncomfortable bedding. The bed mattress was a spring mattress that caused pain for both my […] wife and myself. No bed sheet with the exception of the one covering the mattress. Only the comforter. No chair in room to sit in. No Desk. Lighting in bathroom was terrible. No beverage or ice machine in hotel. We could hear everything the neighbors were saying along with their TV and restroom and certain this was reciprocal. The star "number" rating is skewed since its based on questions that don't really address customers' true perceptions on rating a hotel. We wouldn't stay here again even if we were given free stays. Great hotel, awesome staff, everyone was friendly and helpful. The breakfast was great too. I think the only negative would be the distance to the beach and to the center. I think a shuttle would make this experience awesome!Genuine Expedia guest review

The rooms need updates. It seems that maintenance stop 10 years ago. It feels old and tired. The bath tub was dirty and the shower got flooded. "Pretty in pictures...BUT actually pretty run down"
The pictures of Vista Real Hotel deceive the viewer, as they paint a picture of a magnificent hotel with stunning views and meticulously kept surroundings. However, as soon as I pulled up to the hotel I could tell the maintenance of the building was lacking. There were broken tiles and windows, and limited lighting. As I entered my room I was overcome […] by an overwhelming smell of mildew and mold. Over the course of my stay I experienced several problems with my room and the hotels amenities in general. Our room had a leaking roof in the bathroom. The maintenance man was prompt to come and fix the roof, yet it did begin leaking again. In our room we had a “hide-a-bed” that never closed. We asked at least three different times to have the bed repaired; however, it was never fixed. We had a patio area, yet it was not furnished and could not be utilized. The patio area was also noticeable unkempt. We requested outdoor furniture and were brought two plastic chairs. The ``hot tubs`` never heated and the jets did not work. The hotel staff informed us they were actually `small pools`. The hotel served a lovely breakfast in the mornings. However, they had many birds and lacked covered seating. Two of the guests I traveled with had the dis-pleasurable experience of cleaning bird feces off their clothes first thing in the morning. The people who work at the hotel are wonderful, as they are friendly, helpful, and kind. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Quiet but too far from the beach"
I liked the hotel and overall it was a good stay though there are some things that need to be improved. I hope that my review will help others not to experience any inconveniences. First of all, beds were very uncomfortable. I noticed that they just put a matress on what appear to be a block of concrete, I dont know if it is the same in other hotels […] but I noticed they don't have a box spring type of mattresses. So, beds were very uncomfortable. Second, some rooms are sort of double rooms which includes a master bedroom and another room attached to it and separated with a door. I realize that the original intention was to sell these rooms to people who travel with families or friends and they want to be together. Long story short -I could hear EVERY move of the neighbors from the adjoining room. To make matters worse the air conditioner was also in their room, and at times it would apparently get too cold there so they would turn it off, making my room unbearably hot. I told people the desk about it but they didn't do anything. There were other things that were uncomfortable but aren't too big of a deal, such as damp towels, poor lights - I have heard those are common problems in Mexican hotels. But beds and air-conditioning are too important in my opinion to be ignored. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

This was the second time we stayed at this hotel. Great value for our money. The room was impecable, the staff was very friendly and helpful. "Great home base!"
If your goal on vacation is to hang out at the resort and relax, this is probably not the spot for you. But if you are the type who likes to spend your days exploring and come home to a comfortable, cozy, well appointed room, this is definitely the hotel for you! Great value, great location, nice staff, we had a huge room with full kitchen, dining room, […] living room, two huge bedrooms, spiral staircase and our own private deck, very close to playa del Carmen, free beach club access, great breakfast, etc... So what's not to like? Tiny pool with 4-5 public loungers to be shared by all guests. And that's about The only negative. We have 2 kids 13 and 14 that wanted more of a social scene not available at the hotel. Amazing for the price . Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"lovely hotel in quiet, safe neighborhood"
My kids and I stayed here for four nights. I felt safe and comfortable. Lovely staff, and nice clientele. Breakfast buffet at tables by the poolside saved us time and money each day. We booked a basic suite, which felt like a small house, due to the full dining room, living room and kitchen (fridge, stove and microwave). I think all the suites have […] patios or big balconies. The bathroom was more artistic than functional, and the marble tiled floor could get slippery. Firm beds and plenty of complimentary bottled water. It cost 70 pesos for a cab ride to town/beach/ADO station. 155 pesos cab ride to Xcaret. There is a convenience store just a short walk down the road, which was particularly handy when my son got travelers stomach . I was able to walk to the shop, buy pepto bismol tablets, yogurt, jello, etc and be back again in 15 minutes. I definitely recommend staying here. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Loved staying in the Playacar"
We loved our stay at the Hacienda Vista Real. The staff was very friendly and very helpful. The location was great, so pretty along the golf course and quiet in the Playacar. The breakfast buffet was nice. We had a great suite with a kitchen and the only reason I'm not giving a 5 was the kitchen was not very clean and there were no towels (not even […] paper towels) to clean it with. "Quiet and beautiful, no activities at the hotel."
It was difficult to find. It is in a beautiful area of PLAYACAR, a gated community. The local taxi drivers refer to it as "Vista Real".... If you are looking for extreme quiet, and no interaction with people, this is your place. The staff was nice and spoke decent English. The breakfast buffet was the exact same every day with the exception of the meat […] offered. We were unaware the hotel has an arrangement with the a Beach Club in Playa Del Carmen. They really try to leave you alone, and I don't know if it is out of respect or just that they were sort of understaffed. The grounds are beautiful, well-kept. The pool area is very small and VERY quiet. No music, nobody hanging out in the bar area. Not a lively atmosphere at all. The walk to Playa Del Carmen is 15-20 minutes away. Taxi service is quick, approx $5-8 . We enjoyed it for the most part but will not return. We would prefer to be closer to the beach now that we know what amenities this hotel offers. The room service is actually a take out menu from restaurants in town. If you don't have anything for dinner your choices are very limited. Our biggest complaint was the beds in our suite were extremely hard. I slept on the couch for half of our stay. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
