"If you can find it...it is very worthwhile!"
Our suite was superb -- 5 balconies, huge space, excellent value -- extraordinarily good value! Beautiful decor and architecture, delicious, varied breakfasts. But: impossible to locate! We drove around and around -- street signs had arrows, but there was NO SIGN indicating the entrance! The spa a lovely, but minimally functional: no hot tubs, sauna […] or steam...the spa needs to be brought to full function. Finally, the bathtub is quite deep; grab bars need to be placed beside the tub for safety. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Nice looking, horrible service, false advertising."
The hotel looked nice, the breakfast was ok. The staff was nice but they seriously misadvertised on hotels.com what you would get. We pre-paid for a pillow-top king bed. So we get there and the mattress is a king but its sitting on a full size box, we slid off the sides, not pillow top either. We got switched to a new room two nights later finally, […] and the bed was king but again was not pillow top, even harder than before, and this time we had no mini bar. We went to to the front desk and they said they could nothing that night, and they didnt do anything for the rest of our stay. Other things were that the hotel was very noisy starting at 6 am, you could hear people talking as if they were in our room. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Food Service & check-out flexibility"
Nice Gardens, I have two complaints: a)No place where to eat Jan 1st. The front desk didn't even have a pizza delivery number to call. b) They wanted us out on the dot at 12:00 noon, no buts.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Big rooms. Peaceful location. Far from services."
The rooms are huge. Breakfast is very good. Pool offers plenty of shade. Very safe. Must pass through two guarded gates in order to reach the hotel. No restaurant or bar after 3:00 pm. About a 20 minute walk to downtown Playa. About a 1/2 hour walk to the beach.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Quiet and confortable stay"
Great Hotel if you dont want to be just in Playa del Carmen (the beach is about 30 minute walk). Has enough parking lots, nice and quiet neighbourhood, great breakfast buffet; deffinetely ask for a room on first floor with balcony as we did.....much better than on ground floor. "A quiet peaceful hidden gem"
A hidden gem. This hotel seems to draw primarily business folks. It is a bit off the beaten path, which makes it wonderful. Peaceful, quiet and in a beautiful setting. Your clients need to know that less than 1/4 mile away is a small shopping area with three restaurants, a laundry, and a convenience store (24/7). Surely no one needs to pay US$6+ to […] travel that distance. The beach is about one mile away, easily accessible on foot in about 1/2 hour's walk. It's beautiful, but there are no services right there. We will definately try to stay there again, the next time we are in Playa. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"WELL WORTH THE MONEY"
I had visited Vista Real many years ago when it was still part of the vacation ownership (timeshares) and it was a beautiful place. About three years ago it was sold. The greatest spa I had ever seen is now closed. The hotel itself is kept very clean, but I am starting to see a few things (maintenance issues) being overlooked. Included is free internet […] (with a computer in the main entrance). Fast and great. The staff is very friendly and when our TV didn't work, the maintenance man came immediately! The breakfast, included with stay, is amazing. It is an entire small but varied buffet, with different native Mexican foods daily, cheeses, cold meats, coffee, cereals, etc. The only negative I really have about the hotel is the distance from town. If you have a car, it is an idealic and calming setting in the middle of the golf course in Playacar. Walking is another thing. It was hot, but... Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Hotel had a grand presence. Beautiful architectural details. Peaceful, quite setting but yet within walking distance to Playa De Carmen. Great breakfast included!Genuine Expedia guest review
I felt like a queen in our room. Very helpful staff and a quit atmosphere. I didn't realize we were next to a golf course, which was fun, but also allowed us to see a lot of unusual animals we would not have seen in town!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The Vista Real in Playa del Carmen was a delightful peace of old Mexico with modern conveniences. Way more than you would expect for the price. The staff was pleasant and accommodating. The complimentary breakfast was ecellent. The hotel is located on a beautiful golf couse and is in easy walking distance of 5th Ave.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Good Value for Money"
The Hacienda Vista Real is an excellent value if you're willing to stay at a hotel that's not on the beach. The Ambassador Suite that I stayed in was huge and quite comfortable. The pool is nice and you couldn't ask for a quieter location. The downsides of the hotel are that the spa is closed and food service is not available after 3:00 p.m. The suites […] come with their own kitchen, so you can make your own food if you want, or you can go into town. Hacienda Vista Real was an elegant, old world beautiful, clean and comfortable treasure. The atmosphere was relaxed and quiet. "Very relaxing at Hacienda Vista Real"
Nice hotel for the price. Very quiet and relaxing! The golf course and lake views are beautiful. My room had a really nice day bed outside by the balcony, close to the pool and excellent for sun bathing. The complimentary breakfast items included some local dishes that you might not recognize, but there is always somebody close to explain what it is. […] The staff is very friendly and courteous. Big ups to bartender Cervando at the pool bar. I scored them a 3 under condition and upkeep of the hotel just because the spa is not operating (they mentioned it in the descriptions though) and the jacuzzi was fixed the afternoon before our check out date. "Outstanding Hotel in Lovely Neighborhood"
The Hacienda Vista Real Resort is a jewel of a hotel. It is located in a very exclusive part of town called the Playacar, which is a gated community in Playa del Carmen. The location is quiet and romantic. The rooms are large, well appointed, and most are located with wonderful views of either the gorgeous pool or the golf course. "A nice and peaceful place to relax and rest..."
Great find! It has just about everything one would need for relaxing and getting away from the daily noise and grind. It's the perfect distance from 5th Street and all the usual Playa stuff one wants to see and take in at certain times during a vacation there, but still away enough not to be bothered by noise and traffic. The staff is great and very […] accommodating and the breakfast buffet is very good with a variety of selection. If I had anything at all to say was questionable for this place, it would be the amount of help they employ for maintenance. I asked to replace a lawn-chair off my patio and it took almost all day because there just weren't enough people to get to it promptly. But that's minuscule compared to the rest I've mentioned above. Plus, there is a corner about 5 minutes walk that has a convenient store and 4 restaurants... and one of them, called "Bistro Playacar" was phenomenal. I highly recommend this hotel for people who want and relaxing and pleasing place to chill and rest. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Quiet Old World charm at a great price"
The Vista Real is a nod to a glamorous Mexico of old. It has loads of local character around every corner. What gorgeous grounds! It's location in a gated golf resort community means a very safe and quiet atmosphere. It's a quick ride or a quiet 25-minute stroll to downtown Playa and it's famous 5th Ave. We chose it as a base for day trips to snorkeling […] beaches and hence, did not care that it was not an all-inclusive on the beach resort. The included breakfast buffet by the pool each morning was outstanding! It catered to Latin/European tastes and there was something for everyone. We got the Ambassador Suite and it was a lot of room for two people with a full kitchen. We did not use the resort restaurant. There are a few good restaurants and a convenience store nearby, but otherwise you will need to venture out to the city. We got a wonderful deal online and for the price we think it was an outstanding value. If we go to Playa del Carmen again, we will definitely return. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

The hotel is lovely with a great view of the pool and golf course. It is in a private, quiet area and is visually pleasing. The staff was pleasant and accomodating. "Great Hotel in quiet neighborhood"
We stayed at this hoel one night before and two nights after a week at a resort location and loved it. It had a small pool, but as it was late November, it was a bit cool anyway. The first night we were on the first floor level, and in the evening found some little inch worms (animalitos) coming under the door. We called the front desk and they immediately […] came and sprayed and largely look care of the issue. The two nights we were on the third floor and had no issues, so I would recommend asking for a second or third floor room. We were travelling with my father-an-law so had the 2 BR royal suite. It had a full living room dining area and kitchen, but the kitchen was not very well equipped, but I expect if you wanted to cook more, they would find you what you needed. We had a rental car and were very comfortable leaving in the hotel's free parking lot. We did a day trip to Coba - amazing. We also spent a day at Xcaret which was great. The evening show was fantastic - 2 hours and covered from early Mayan dances and games to current with dances and songs from all the different states of Mexico. The evening meal at the show was OK but not great. I didn't realize you could attend the show without buying the dinner, so I would eat before at one of the many venues there. It is also quite close to the "5th avenue" but I feel a bit long to walk, although a number of other posters have said it was ok. We ate at La Parrilla twice - excellent. Their full breakfast was OK. Eggs/omlettes cooked to order with various pastries, fruits, yogurt, cold cereal, and assorted Mexican breakfast foods. All service, luggage assistance, front desk, waiter at breakfast were great. Hotel was the very best value in PLAYA. Very large suits, quite, strong internet and very nice staff.I would rate this hotel 4.5 stars for local and business travellers.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
First off this hotel is quite a ways from playa del carmen 5th ave but you can walk in about 45 minutes not 20 unless you're power walking ! The suite is comfortable but not very clean , I mean the basics are done like the floors counters etc. but the door handles , the toilet walls , the taps , the cupboard doors and pulls were like they were never […] cleaned . I bought Lysol wipes to wash them . The living room has beautiful white leather furniture in it but it has a lot of mold stains on them , we did not sit on them and then I at least bought a blanket and was able to sit and watch tv. The kitchen is not very well equipped for cooking , they only had a pan , no pot , No coffee pot , no toaster etc. I would probably stay here again but it will not be my first choice ! Good Value!! Booked the Royal Suite thinking it was the rooftop room with a tub and a pool but got a suite with a deluxe studio attached to it. This is the third time we have stayed at this hotel. Obviously they have a range of room quality and are perhaps making changes to upgrade the rooms that have not been done yet. Our previous stays we have had beautiful rooms with amazing bathrooms. They are extremely clean as well. The staff was excellent being very friendly and helpful. We had to change […] rooms this time as the bed was rock hard in the first room. The second room the bathroom was aweful and really needed updating. We also had issues with getting cold water at the bathroom sink and enough pressure to have a shower. Otherwise the grounds are beautifully kept and the breakfast was excellent. "Good hotel, in a quiet private area"
The room in the hotel was nice, big and comfortable. We had two comfy double beds in our room and a balcony. The hotel has a swimming pool and the breakfast is outdoors, in a nice location. The hotel is difficult to find, at the end of a small street that only advertised another hotel (Pakal). We asked a policeman around to indicate the location, as […] we couldn't find it using google maps. We did not have cold water in the bathroom (I mean that the water was to hot even to have a shower). The quality of the breakfast could be improved. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Nice hotel, location not so great"
This hotel has a lovely old Mexico hacienda atmosphere. Room was spacious and clean, but there was a continual faint banging noise from somewhere nearby, sounded like a shutter banging, or something. The pool is on the smallish size, and leaves from the nearby trees fall in, but staff are diligent about getting them out. Not a lot of space around the […] pool so the lounge chairs are placed outside the poolside rooms, so you feel a bit like you're sitting in someone's space. Buffet breakfast had a good variey of foods, some hot, some cold. Scrambled eggs with ham were a bit runny, but tasted good. Crispy taquitos, fried vegs, meat, yogurt, cereals, toast, also available. Poolside service for lunch was hopeless. Had to ask for a menu, and waited 45 minutes to order. Finally gave up and left as the waiter never came to take my order. There were only 2 other customers at the time, so it wan't because he was busy. Bell boy was exceptionally helpful and friendly. Hotel location means a 70 peso taxi ride to town, or about 25 minute walk. It's a lovely residential area, but few shops or restaurants nearby. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

I love the hotel but my favorite part of it was the SPA. I recommend the couple relax massage. If you do that go earlier to get into the sauna, steam and jaccusi. I did not like to stay in the first level of the hotel. Don´t do that.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"No restaurant/bar service after 3pm."
I found the hotel's location very inconvenient, since the only way of getting around is walking around Playacar golf course. What makes it even worse is the fact the the hotel unbelievably has no restaurant/bar service after 3pm. Having a nice restaurant/bar could compensate the inconvenience of the location, but forget about getting any food or drinks […] after 3 pm. The design of the hotel is strange to say the least, with some of the rooms' windows actually overlooking the back of the front desk. The problem with this is not only the view, but the fact that every time someone is talking at the staff at the front desk it is like if they were next to you in your room.
