Very interesting city to visit although some of the Christmas markets looked very sad in the pouring rain. Excellent hotel for a weekend break. Ideally located just 10 minutes walk from Checkpoint Charlie and Potsdam Platz. Easy to get to from Schonefeld airport via the U and S-bahn. Highly recommend.

My stay at the Movenpick hotel in Berlin with my partner was ok, but I would not rate it 4 and a half stars. In the room, the beds have two small duvets. As I was staying with my partner I would have preferred that there was one large duvet sheet that we could share. There was also a glass wall that separated the bathroom from the main room. I cannot […] understand why the bathroom has a glass wall facing the bed, I have no desire to see my partner as he is using the toilet. I was upset on our second night when we returned to the hotel to find a large brown stain on the bed sheets and duvet. I called reception to have the sheet changed and the maid who came to the room implied that we had made the stain and told us that the sheets are only changed every three days at the hotel. The stain was certainly not on the bed when I left for the day so I did not appreciate the fact that I was accused of making the stain when clearly either dirty sheets were put on my bed or the maid made it when cleaning the room. For a four and a half star hotel I was disappointed by the quality of the hotel concierge. She did not give me correct directions to meeting points, information or pamphlets about day trip options in Berlin or correct information about a tour she booked for me. I expected her to be more knowledgeable about things to do in Berlin and helpful in explaining directions around the city. Read more

great location right next to Anhalter Bhf station so easy to get anywhere, from the outside through the reception to the room looked fab, the staff were great. I will definately stay there next time I am in Berlin, the room was so lovely I almost wanted to stay in!

In addition to the room rate, we usually choose hotels based on location. The Mövenpick Hotel satisfies both our criteria. The rates are fair and the location is excellent, only a grenade's throw from Potsdamer Platz - and a train station and taxi stand as next door neighbours. There are a few fast food joints around the corner too if you crave a midnight […] snack. Our "Superior room" faced the yard, really quiet - didn't hear the May Day riots and police choppers at all. The staff was friendly and helpful, and there's always plenty of them around - so there's no waiting at the reception. And for the ladies, a make-up mirror in the bath room is a big plus! On the downside, we have to say that the breakfast prices are ridiculous. Asking 22 Euros for a buffet? Not that it mattered to us, a great cafe across the road serves an excellent breakfast betwen 08-16. A minor issue with our room: The A/C wasn't quite up to the task of keeping the temperature down at night, but then again we haven't experienced 30 degrees in Berlin in April/May before. We had a three night stay and found the hotel to be clean and quiet. The location is good within walking distance of the city centre sights and with S bahn and bus and taxi ranks close by. Our only grumble was the price of the buffet breakfast at 22 euros each if not booked in advance which seems very expensive.

An absolutely lovely hotel close to almost everything. Our room was great with both a bathtub and shower! Free Internet and use of printer in the business area so that we could check in online for our return flight. The anhalter bahnhof (underground metro) was only a couple of minutes away and very efficient. The only thing we didn't like was the […] temperature in the room sometimes. The Hotel was clean, tidy and well presented. The staff spoke good English and were very helpfull. We asked for quiet rooms and apart from one annoying drunken guest on the first night at 3am, it was fine. Its a 10min walk to the nearest U-Bahn Station, but If you stray off the main road the area becomes a little unerving late at night with alot of […] student residential areas and dark corners nearby, during the day its not an issue. Right across the road is a bizzare war bunker attraction which is worth a visit if you like a fright, though it doesnt appear in the guide books. The Hotel Bar is well stocked and the reasturant looks vert good quality and well presented. Breakfast is very expensive at 22 Euro's so we didnt eat at the Hotel but there is a local cafe right next door who do coffee, tea, eggs and toast though english is not really understood, lots of pointing required but friendly staff. If you travel into the sony centre plaza (15min walk), under the impressive roof there are two cafe's who speak good english and serve great breakfast food. There is an Australian bar who do more 'British type' meals for the evening. Overall the hotel is what I expected for the price, we enjoyed the stay and would use it again. Oh, some rooms have either a shower OR a bath so it will be worth your while specifying your preference. There is a misty glass wall between the en-suite and the room, so be prepared for that if your in a new relationship! Enjoy. Read more
