"Flamingo Hotel in Cancun"
The hotel and the room were clean. It is on the beach. Cancun ocean water was crystal clear and the beach sand was soft, as usual. The only complaint I have was the old fixtures in the bathroom. There was a water leak between the sink top and fixture. Apparently it was going on for some time. It took some effort to bring the service people to fix the problem, mostly because the service people did not speak English. The hotel needs to upgrade the bathroom fixtures. The front desk people were very kind and spoke good English, especially Laura.

"Stay away!!!"
Let me first state that expedia has been trying to force me change my review from negative to positive (most likely in order to not lose hotel commissions). This hotel is terrible - they count every calorie of food you consume and make fun of you if you are still hungry after a tiny salad. If you speak Spanish then you are fine, but otherwise you are doomed to be left hungry and constantly made fun off. This place is absolutely not welcoming for Americans!!! So if you are an American get ready to feel constantly not comfortable and out of place, they will make you feel awkward and constantly self conscious.. Amenities are old and they are constantly renovating something but you can't really understand what is Beijing fixed and where is the banging noise coming from (be prepared to wake around 7.30 am every day)...

"Nice beach location, all inclusive food has issues"
This was our 4th visit to Cancun. We previously stayed at the RIU Cancun. The Flamingo had a great beach with sandbar. But the areas that the Flamingo fell short was first in the room. We had two rooms side by side. Both rooms had the worst hardest beds, mattress' from the 1960's, and terrible pillows. Our toilet overflowed on day one and ran constantly. The room card readers didn't work daily and we had to get new cards daily and repair men working every other day on them. Things seemed to disappear as well such as a packet of Oreo cookies we bought. We locked everything of value in the room safe which was nice. The all inclusive food was basically the same every day. Rice and chicken. We walked to the RIU to see the difference and for lunch they had a large hibachi grill of fresh shrimp grilling, but there were hundreds of people there and not a free sun chair in sight. So the Flamingo was empty and we in a way had the place to ourselves which was nice. But they starve you inbetween the feedings. No snacks or anything. We went next door to the Hyatt Zilara and it was amazing. Bottles of Absolute just laying around, chips and salsa every hour of the day. We had nothing like that. So if you are looking for a budget stay with a nice beach then this is good, but I would spend more for the Hyatt Zilara that had live bands, fireworks, unlimited pools, better all inclusive etc. But that's an adults only resort and we had two kids. Very nice hotel staff though.

"Nice but small"
Things I liked Good food ,nice variety Friendly staff Very clean, the room, pools, beach, beach towels available Did not like Drinks, very limited, low end brands of alcohol Very few English speaking tourists so staff had limited English but were friendly Very limited shade. Almost none at the pools and very few umbrellas on the beach. Not good for someone who cannot be out in the sun for hours at a time It was not the fault of the hotel but I booked and paid for an ocean front room through Expedia. Instead, I got a room on the top floor that needed a key card to access, with a private lounge. The private lounge was an 8X10 room with a computer that did not work. My view was the mall across the street. They said they could not move me to a lower floor with an oceanfront room because this was booked trough Expedia so I had to pay extra for the oceanfront room in addition to what I paid for the "private lounge".

"Excellent location! Great for price!"
This was a prefect location. Staff was friendly & very respectful! Hotel manager could've been a little better in offering upgrades. I feel he didn't because we didn't get all inclusive. We went to celebrate our honeymoon & daughters 15th birthday! After telling manger what we were there for he stated I should've put it on the website so they could've done something special so because I didn't they didn't do anything. Cancun overall is beautiful and weather couldn't have been more perfect!

"Disappointing"
The Flamingo is situated on a beautiful section of beach and it has two nice pools. Unfortunately, those were the only real high points. In just over a week there we had our door lock fail, our air conditioning go out, and days of incessant construction on an outer wall of our hotel room that was so loud we couldn't relax, hear the TV, or easily talk. There was extensive reconstruction underway at both pools at the same time which made it hard to relax and enjoy. The hotel's food was edible but not enjoyable, quite expensive, and there was no genuine local Mexican restaurants in easy walking distance from the hotel. We were a party of seven and none of us want to return.

"Bed Bugs and they rob you on the internet"
Biggest complaint is the bed bugs. Second is their internet. You pay $75 pesos per day for a 24 hour period, however they FAIL to tell you that you can't get wireless in most of the rooms. We had to use the wifi only in the lobby or by pool. Also once you sign on you CAN NOT sign off otherwise you have to go and repurchase the 24 hour service. When they fail to tell you the internet does not work in the room and you walk into your room and get disconnected to the wifi - THEY WILL NOT GIVE YOU ANOTHER SIGN ON UNLESS YOU PAY FOR AN ADDITIONAL 24 HOURS even though you have 20 hours left on your time usage.

The hotel is an older hotel but has been kept in great shape. Not as luxury as other hotels around. We did not do the all-inclusive and just used it as a hotel. The staff was really helpful and courteous. The beach access and facilities were great. Our room was a little small for the three adults in it, but I saw larger rooms. The hotel is located in a quieter part of the Hotel Zone (which is what we wanted), but still easy to access whatever you want either by walking or by taking the buses.

"Small boutique all-inclusive hotel on Cancun Beach"
The Hotel zone in Cancun is lined with mega-resorts. This is a smaller property right on the beach. The hotel check-in was quick (& the staff upgraded us to an ocean facing room upon request). The concierge on the other hand tried to interest us in a long rambling discourse about "coupons & deals" at local watering holes. We had to decline repeatedly for her to stop. The room was clean and the furnishings of high quality. The room fixtures though were old/rusting - though that is to be expected due to the fact of the hotel being exposed to the salty ocean air. They have two pools - both in excellent condition. The one facing the ocean on the terrace was a delight to swim in, when the moon came out. Note: The Towel room has a pretty scary warning that neglecting to return towels there by 6:00pm would incur a $20 charge per towel. However, we swam late into the evening and returned it to the front desk without incurring the penalty.

Flamingo staff were very polite and friendly. They put a right hand on their left chest and said "Hi, how are you?" in Spanish when they saw us. We became like friends toward the end of our stay. "Pretty standard US 3 star rating on the beach"
Each amenity is a value, as we did not have a safe in the room, at first, we had to ask for one. No refrigerator, that would be for an upgraded room, no internet access on every floor, as the WIFI signal was only available on certain upgraded floors and in the lobby. We opted not to get the all inclusive plan - instead opting for the European Plan room only. The bar was pleasant, the restaurant was nice one night, but to go there all the time would have been boring and confining, but certainly would have been easy. We had a minor maintenance issue upon arrival, that the sliding glass door was stuck closed, and the staff were prompt with getting to the room, attending to the problem and being friendly. A light bulb was out, and we did not mention it to the staff, but it was replaced by housekeeping without our even having mentioned it. Across the street was a plaza/mall with a nice jewelry store, numerous tourist shopping locations rental cars, farmacias, convenience store and a couple chain restaurants. But down one block to the south was a nice little cantina, and across the street to the north about a half mile (or one km) were several nice local restaurants, A.) lobster specialty place, B.) Italian place and 400 paces further along was a very nice C.) local seafood place with good jazz playing and offering a menu with variety that had big fish.

"Nice location but needs major upgrades"
I want to try to be fair because at the end of the day we had a good time with friends at the beach while it was snowing at home. The people working there were very nice and that made up for antiquated rooms and below quality food. It was very clean and the maids were very nice and accommodating. Because it is a smaller hotel the beach was not crowded at all and the access to the pools and beach were very simple and just a few steps from the rooms. The hotel and beach were very clean. The restaurants (only two: one buffet and one a la carte. There was also a grill&bar at the pool) need really to upgrade the quality of their food. Other than the lady making omelettes in the morning the rest of the food was quite bad. We paid for all inclusive and ended up going out for dinner a few times. While the rooms were clean the mattresses were old and hard; you can hear everything going on at the hallway; the AC was an adventure: called two times to get it fixed and ended up being a binary choice: want cold? turn it on; too cold? turn it off. No middle ground.Quite frustrating at night. There seemed to be little international guests at the hotel. The lady at the kids club was very nice and the kids had a great time with her.

"Great location."
Although the Flamingo is an older hotel, I did not have a problem with this. The staff was constantly making improving, either painting hand rails on stair cases, making rock gardens, or just cleaning the premises in general. We were fortunate to secure an ocean view room with a balcony. Some mornings, we would turn off the A/C & just let the ocean breeze filter into our room, I loved the sound of the ocean coming to shore. Although we did not use the pool area, it was very inviting & clean.

"Close to nice shopping mall + beautiful beach"
Flamingo is a smallish hotel, with 2 separate pools, 2 restaurants - one right on the beach - and a nice bar. I did the all inclusive and yes, the food is bland, but they are catering to everyone, so its just a matter of choosing wisely @ the buffet. My room was clean + a balcony, I only took the basic room available and still very nice. Not too many kids running around, the other guests were all friendly and from every country with many of them returning to the Flamingo every year. La Isla shopping mall is close by and besides all the shops, there's some nice water front restaurants. I got a 45 min massage right in the middle of the mall and it was excellent.

"Never again!"
This particular hotel is NOT ALL-INCLUSIVE! Explain: - two bars with no variety of drinks, even "local" wine and beer are presented as "ONE BEER" and "ONE WINE"; - the bar #1 works from 10am to 4pm at the kids pool, the bar #2 situated at the small lobby started serving people from 4pm to 11pm. - the menu at two restaurants are so poor, no cheese or vegetables, NO COFFEe. - no coffeemakers in the room, no refrigerator in the room, no drinking water; - the beach towels are so trashy! - there is such a short list what is INCLUDED. I paid extra for everything. - the first day, there were no sparkling wine, no wine in the bar, good quality alcohol shown on the shelves are for extra, like a shot of good vodka is $10 USD. - in the a la card restaurant "Albatross" coffee machine was broken and never fixed for my 10 day stay over there; - no transfer from and to an airport; - WIFI-extra - the same menu EVERY DAY: simple as ABC. The worst is a breakfast: eggs with eggs, NO CHEESE, NO cold cuts. - front desk people, not every one, but the most are pathological LIARS, - at any restaurants you are not served, you are demonstratively ignored, - for a few days my room was not cleaned due to cleaning ladies appeared as late as 8pm, and, I was, already, in the bed.

A lot of construction trying to update an old property. The location is good. The beach was very nice. The staff was not very impressive but not bad either. If you want internet just know it is $7/ day, a little overpriced but what can you do. The restaurant with a view to the ocean was the best part, reasonable prices and very good food, and great service. The pool was nice. Beware if you get a room close to the kid center you will not get any sleep in the morning. The restaurants close by are very limited and overpriced. The breakfast buffet in the hotel is $35 and not good at all do not recommend that, but the hotel was very decent for the price and location.

It also had a semi-private patio with loungers that overlooked the beach & water. When we checked in on a Friday evening, there was a lot of activity in their bar, their restaurant & some other type of entertainment going on. It has a really nice pool in the center of the building which is unusual.
