The confusion when I checked in with my room being given to another guest 2 hrs later was strange. The manager's approach of trying to push the door open when I asked him to back up so I could open the door, was unacceptable. I will not stay in this hotel again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Vi hadde et deilig opphold i 4 dager på et flott hotell.Vi var på besøk i området west monroe - så det var lett å kjøre til familien som bodde lenger ut i området. Hotellet var veldig fint for oss.Utrolig hyggelig betjening. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Very poorly managed."

Wifi was virtually non-existent in the suite I had. Despite repeated complaints, the only attempt made to resolve the problem was to "reset" the router. Every other time I have stayed at every other similarly rated (or lesser) class of chain of hotels, they at least tried to redirect the router. The breakfast options are dismal, unless you can stomach the ersatz scrambled eggs, cold cereal, hard biscuits and surly servers. The semi-fascinating wonder of the pancake machine was not an option. The room was nice enough if you can stand faulty lighting and beige, weird tasting water. Stay somewhere else, like Rayville or Ruston.

Our room was fine. Tubs won't plug so shower only unless u block drain with rag. Water is brown and stinks. Note at front desk says it's some kind of water double filtered. I only know it stinks. U smell bad after shower. Tastes nasty for brushing teeth too. Stinky nasty

Horrible experience, Carpet was filthy worst I have ever seen. The room was extremely loud, bed and pillows were uncomfortable. I will never stay at a Holiday inn again!!! The water was extremely nasty smelling as well I refused to shower in it.
"Not impressed with this H-I Express"

Checked in late on a Friday night w/o a reservation. We specifically asked for a king room w/a fridge because we had food we didn't want to keep on ice in a soft sided cooler. We parked at the back entrance door so we could get to our room easier from the car. Tried the key card several times on the outside door w/no luck. Then just tried the door & found it wasn't even locked. As we made our way to the elevator, noticed a sour/foul smell (perhaps pet friendly area?) in the 1st floor hallway & a pizza box on the floor outside a room. Made it to our room (#324) & looked around. Fridge was not in kitchentte area, but almost behind entry door - nearly ran into it in the dark room. Everything looked fairly neat, but it was late & we were tired. I asked my husband to put the food in the fridge. He opened it & discovered it wasn't even plugged in! When he did plug it in, it made lots of noise. We opted then to just add ice to our cooler, set it in the sink in case of a leak, & be done with it. I went to close the black-out curtains, & couldn't find the "pull rod" to move one side along it's track. After fighting with tugging on the fabric to close the curtains, I noticed the rod on the floor next to the window. I then tried to adjust the temperature setting on the AC unit, but I'm sure that wasn't working properly either. It was set at 67 when we got there, I dropped it to 65, but the room just never seemed to cool down much - and we arrived after 9 pm. I can't imagine what it would feel like in the daytime of summer in LA. Finally got into bed, & sheets felt damp! Not just humidity damp, but pulled out of the drier too soon & put on bed slightly wet damp. But by this point, we were exhausted & didn't want to switch rooms, so we toughed it out. In the morning, we took our bags to the car before coming back inside to eat. Pizza box was still on the floor out side of room door on 1st floor hallway! Breakfast was barely adequate. Pancake maker was out of order, sausage in "hot box" was cold, & lemonade in juice dispenser was just cloudy water. We specifically stayed at the H-I Express in Monroe, & avoided older lodgings, because of wonderful past experiences. Not sure we will do that again - this place needs a lot of attention to get back to standards! I am certain we didn't get our $109+ taxes vavlue on this overnight lodging. I've had better experiences at other locations for much less money & frustration.
"Won't stay again! "
Room was average. My husband had to replace a light bulb. The fridge wasn't plugged in and when it did get plugged in it made noises all night long Also, I listened to people walking all night in the room above me. Carpet in the room was filthy! I was unable to connect to the Wi-Fi. I could go and on about how disappointed I was with this Holiday Inn Express considering that chain is one that I use frequently when traveling but I will NEVER stay in this one again!

When traveling for business in North Louisiana, I like staying at this Holiday Inn Express. Very clean, comfortable and I really enjoy the happy hour food & drinks in the evening with the breakfast in the morning.

Housekeeping is very lacking in this property. My room was not cleaned, but more importantly, the previous guest's empty shampoo bottles and soap were left in the shower. The soap from that same guest was left on the vanity and the bathtub was filled with hair. Funny though, the beds had been made with the dirty sheets still on them. Also, the bathtub had a huge rust stain on it, and the wallpaper was peeling off in huge chunks. Also, the previous guest's card pocket with his name on it was there on the nightstand. I have stayed at the property several times a year for the last 4-5 years. This is the worst that I have seen it, and will not be staying there until these items are corrected. SERIOUS attention needs to be placed ASAP on this property. I do not recommend this property to anyone. For the price, it is not a value to have to put up with the dirty rooms and unhelpful staff.

I've stayed at this location a number of times over the years and have thoroughly enjoyed the setting-Restoration Park next door, the cleanliness and professional and accommodating staff. Things have changed. The staff seemed to be doing their jobs for the first time. My first morning there, at 7:00 a.m., the food was still in boxes in the breakfast room and the only food available was biscuits and gravy. As I left for work for the day (Monday morning), I went to the public restroom outside the breakfast room and waited on a staffer to finish using the facility. He must have been suffering from a serious case of gastrointestinal upset, because he trashed the stool. And the stool remained trashed until the Thursday morning I left-not dysfunctional, just scurvy. My daughter and grandson traveled from Dallas to visit me, and because the staff couldn't keep the stay schedule straight, they issued a room card for their room, and a man walked in on them. Not too secure. When my daughter went to the desk to let them know what they'd done, they said "So you're still here?" Trash bins were always full-the breakfast room, outside the front door-and often with trash obviously from the night before. Breakfast always seemed to be nobody's responsibility, and cleaning seemed to fall through the cracks for extended periods of time. We're all human, and there will always be glitches and missteps during a stay, but here it seemed to be the norm. I'm sorry to say I won't be back. I've always enjoyed this place.
"Great hotel, walking distance to restaurants, huge rooms!"

I stayed here for a business trip and the hotel was very nice. There were complimentary snacks, wine, and beer in the lobby. The rooms were huge and clean as well as the bathroom. The only concern is the brownish/yellow water, which the hotel says is mineral water....that's something I would have to research myself.....other than that I would stay here again! Also the parking lot is rather small, but adequate for the amount of rooms they have I guess. No biggie.

The hotel staff were friendly and the overall property was clean and maintained. The hallway carpets showed signs of age. Our room was clean but had a musty smell and the tub had stains and a drippy faucet. The beds were very comfortable. Unfortunately, there were guest obviously practicing for the Olympics above us and awoke my whole family--the front desk said that had gotten other complaints and had called them already once and would call again. I suggested a formal visit--the gold medalist stopped about 15 minutes later. Breakfast was the usual but the area was clean. The hotel allows pets, unfortunately a pet owner tracked in poop all over the stairwell, hallway, and elevator. I would stay again, but will check out other options first. They are close to lots of dining options and about a mile from Duck Commander. We stayed here because my kids had a sporting even held at the West Monroe High School. We were only about 5 minutes from the High School.
