The hotel is located in a fantastic area. Close to the marina, yet right on the beach. The beach in front of the property is AMAZING. Hotel has really nice pool area. The hotel was a good location. It was close to the marina, and a mile walk away from downtown. The fish tacos by the pool were really good. We ate that almost everyday. Don't loose them or they will charge you too. Watch out for the little building on the right, they will be hounding you about time share. Security was good. I really did like the Hotel Finisterra. It's older and maybe neglected for a time. However the people worked very hard while we where there to keep it clean. I had to rate it as a 3 because it does need a good updating, which is exactly what is going on right now. Sandos bought them out and redoing everything. Thus a lot of construction noise. It was […] only during the day, usually starting at 7am through dinnertime. The staff was nice. We had a couple of very bad nights, with drunk and very rude neighbors. Every time I called down at 1am to have it taken care of, they said they would send security. We never heard security come, but they always calmed down after that, so who knows. I did choose this hotel because it was far from the party scene, but I guess we just got lucky! The pool area is very pretty and the beach is beautiful. I loved the waves (it's not swimmable), and loved the fact that there weren't very many people. You can see whales from the beach if you are looking for them. Overall the stay was nice. I well say I was very disappointed by the time-share people. With in the first day we had two people try and get us to go, and then had another lady chase us down while leaving for a tour a few days later, making us late. If I say no, I mean no! Between the airport, the car rental, and the hotel, we were harassed for 6 timeshare in just he first 24 hrs we were there. Left a very bad taste in our mouths. Read more

Overall, visit was OK. Facility is due for a make over but we very much enjoyed the 9 nights we stayed there. Concierge was a pain in the behind but they soon learned I was not going to take their bait for a timeshare. Rates were very reasonable! Restaurant and bar spendy ~ but everything is in Cabo!

Had an amazing 5 night stay. Family vacation with an infant and 5 year old. HUGE room, great view. Old but nicely renovated hotel. Lot's of character. Quiet at night but a bit loud in the morning since they are remodeling surrounding properties. Staff was very attentive. Will go back.

You could walk to the marina right from the hotel (10 minutes walk). The beach was quiet. Hotel Finisterra is a famous old hotel that faces on the Pacific Ocean side of Cabo (the cape). Sun bathers can NOT swim in the ocean at this beach due to the dangerous currents and rip tides. Please understand, the workers at the hotel were very kind, but the have nothing to work with. It is hard to say if this is an almost dead property that is failing on life support, or a dead/failed property that someone is considering reviving. This property is […] a ghost town - in our entire stay we saw a maximum of 8 people in a pool area that could easily seat 500+ people. In resturants that could seat 80+ we never saw more than one other couple. This is a huge property that was once grand. It has had little or no maintenance in many years. Our shower curtain was barely attached, they were down to low-end WalMart grade pillows in the room with no other options, to open the sliding door on had to pry it open and then put your full weight into it to move the door (it was corroded shut), a cup of coffee was only available after 8 AM in the morning and cost $5 USD, and a small entree (local Mexican food) and ice tea dinner for 2 was $62 USD.... Out of curiosty one night, I stepped back from the property and counted the occupied rooms. There were 6 rooms that were occupied in a property with hundreds of rooms. if you value your vacation time, do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else. We own property in Cabo and it is distressing to us to think that this property might be someone's first and only experiece with Cabo. Read more

Hotel Finisterra is an old Cabo Hotel with a great location but in need of significant updates and repairs. The entire facilty needs a coat of paint, especially the balcony railings. The pools need to be drained, the tiles cleaned and the coping redone. The rooms have not been redone in years. The furniture is old and tired. The TV's are likewise old […] and programming service is limited. Most of the ice machines do not work and have not worked for months, since we were at this hotel in January 2012. The facility was recently purchased by Sandals and some updating has started. The original section of the hotel is to be redone. The demolition has occurred but no one was working to redo the rooms. The facility becomes all-inclusive in December, but with only 1 restaurant, guests will have limited choices. The staff is attentive and well meaning, but know little about the plans and are embarrassed about how the facility has deteriorated. It is truly a shame, because it was a great facility. Read more

We've stayed at the Finisterra five times now. The upkeep is deteriorating, but hopefully the new owners will improve things. The phone in the room did not work the entire time. Staff said they were making a transition. Had to go to front desk for phones calls, even to call room service.

The concierge Moises made our stay at the Hotel Finisterra more enjoyable. He helped us with our activities and he had just a good overall demeanor. The other staff where friendly too. If you tell him no, he hurls insults as you walk away. We would literally try to devise ways around this repugnant individual, but to no avail as there is only one way in and out. This guy is not affiliated with the hotel, but makes it seem like he is due to the proximity to the hotel. I told the staff about this agressive jerk and they said they had problems with him often, but can't seem to extract him from the area since he works for the adjacent hotel. Just be on guard. A good way to avoid this guy may be to call a taxi to whisk you through the area each time, but can get expensive after awhile. Other than that, we had a fairly pleasant experience. Read more

We have been going to this hotel for approx 18 years and always have enjoyed our stay. We agree with other reviews that the hotel has been running down for the last several years. Well, things are about to change. While we were here a new company has come in and taken over this hotel and let go (fired) approx 60 employees. It was a very sad time for […] us because we have become good friends with many staff members and it was really hard to say goodbye to them possibly for the last time. There are big plans for remodel and new construction here from what we gathered talking to people there. The new group is called Sandos if our information is correct. We have 3 more weeks booked later this year and timeshare people could only tell us that in 1-2 months we would be getting information regarding plans for the hotel. We love this place and hope the new owners do improve the complex and hope for a better future for those who are still there. Went down during spring break but did not want all the spring break craziness. Very quiet setting, private beach (no vendors), helpful staff. The next hotel over had a time share scam they tried to lure you into, but that was the only hassle.
