Been coming here since 2004. Stopped in 2011 because it was runned down. Hotel is old and historic. Glad Sandos bought it and it was remodled. However, not as happy with food choices since it has become all inclusive. I prefer Pueblo Bonita Sunset Beach. Much nicer rooms, views, and food. Its all inclusive too, but costs more $. Finesterra is a good […] deal for the price, especially if you want to bring family and friends. "Great hotel with beach access."
My wife and I stayed here for our honeymoon and were pleasantly surprised. The hotel gives you access to the beach overlooking the Pacific and a great view of the Marina (a short walk across the street). The staff was excellent tending to our food and drink needs no matter if we were on the beach or poolside. The marina and downtown are within shouting […] distance and offer many things to do if your looking to explore. I gave this an overall "3" do to what happened at check in. We booked an Ocean View room with a king bed but the view nor the bed is guaranteed, because the building is called Ocean View. This was explained to us after we checked in and shown our initial room which was little more than a studio with two double beds (hardly what we wanted for our honeymoon) looking into the cliff. After telling us the beds are not guaranteed and rooms on the other side of the building overlooking the ocean were full, I asked to speak with the manager on duty. After explaining the situation, he worked with me and upgraded us to a suite at a reduced cost which was appreciated. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

love Cabo- hotel has hot tubs/ pools/ clean/ close to beachGenuine Expedia guest review
very enjoyable within walking distance from many activities...the only thing I would warn the next visitor to Cabo, is when you leave Customs and go through the first door, you have to go through a gauntlet of people trying to sell times shares, etc....just ignore them and go straight out to the sidewalk to meet your rideGenuine Expedia guest review
"Music too loud"
We booked 2 rooms with king size bed an ocean views, wish we did not get we were told we were going to be upgraded to a new building with a bay view. not at all an upgrade we got one room wish had speakers right outside our balcony forget about getting any sleep. The music started at 7:00 am and did not stop until 10;00pm, People go on vacation to rest […] not to listen to music that early in the morning and or to listen to entertainers screaming on the microphone until the hrs of the night. "Another Great week in Cabo!"
We are original owners of the old Finisterra Club but came down on a last minutes cheap deal offered by Expedia for all inclusive week stay at Sandos Finisterra Resort. As ALWAYS the Hotel Staff deserves high marks. From the moment we arrived we are treated wonderfully by all the employees. The timeshare people don't bother us once we tell them we are […] original owners and not interested in their presentation (we already did that and didn't buy in to their new plan) so that isn't an issue when we are there. The breakfast buffet is really good at Don Diego. Buffet Dinner at Don Deigo is average buffet style but you can easily find something you like. Service at Don Diego was always excellent. The Tortuga Beach setting for lunch has a beautiful view of the beach and very relaxing atmosphere. The menu here is limited but everything we tried was good and service was outstanding. We also noticed the price of some items at The Rotuga Beach & at the Agave (if you aren't here on all inclusive) have come down since we were last here in August/Sept 2013. think there is room for more reduction if management wants to make it more desireable for originial owners to want to eat and drink at the resort. Agave (Pool Bar) service is outstanding as always and food is average. We didn't try the Cup Cake place - we aren't coffee drinker and didn't make it up their. I have heard people complain about wifi here but we had no problems in our room and we were on the 3rd floor. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great Property and Location - OK Service"
My husband had stayed here before it changed to the Sandos brand. He said the service was definitely better the other times he had stayed here. But overall, we still had a great time. This hotel has an outstanding location, with a Pacific view from most of the hotel rooms and marina view from most restaurants. It's just a short walk down the hill and […] across the street into the marina and town, while still feeling secluded when you get back to the hotel. The facility was very nice, although only one of the three pools was heated. The pools and beach were never crowded (although I guess February probably isn't high season). Even if it were crowded, the lounges and cabanas were spaced far apart that I think it wouldn't ever feel very crowded. The bed was very comfortable although the pillows were very hard. The service at the front desk and pool bar tended to be a little slow, but we had great service at the restaurants. The drinks were pretty good for an all-inclusive. The food was hit and miss. The buffet (Don Diego) had an amazing dining room and view. The food seemed very good if you got a fresh batch, but some things tasted like they had been in the warmer for hours. Our favorite was Tortuga Beach for lunch... everything we tried there was very good and a laid-back atmosphere with gracious service. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Everything was good from the room, to the facilities, to the food & drinks, staff, and especially the location. We felt this was the best hotel location in Cabo. Out one side of the resort, we could see whales jumping in the ocean. The other side, we could see Dolphins in the aquarium. Views were awesome!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Food was excellent as well as the room and view."
The view was spectacular, and the entire hotel was well maintained and clean. The food was excellent and plentiful. The view from the restaurants was panoramic. "Beautiful location, close to everything,"
This place has just been remodeled. It's beautiful! The location is everthing you could want. You walk out the front door to town and the marina, and walk out the back to the pool & beach. The staff is so nice & funny. We felt like celebraties! We were with a big group of 26, they did a great job handling such a large and crazy crowd. They have different […] pools for your comfort level. The DJ/games at one of the pools where fun and hilarious! The entertainment staff made sure everyone was having a good time. Norma the pool waitress was amazing and we ordered a lot of alcohol & food she never even blinked an eye, she was so attentive. The layout of the room is nice, the bed was a little hard, but that's just my preference it was still nice, we had a oceanview room and could even whale watch from the balcony!! Room service was great and came within an 1/2 hour and we ordered at 2 or 3 am it still came right on time! The drinks were perfrect they didn't poor lightly :) Not a big buffet person, but even thier buffet was top notch, different everynight and always had plenty of choices for everyone. They have beach parties too, those where so much fun, live bands great ceveche. Abraham was one of the best waiters we had. He even brought me a blanket because the wind was a little cool that night. Such a nice touch! We would def go back to Sandos. Couldn't have meet nicer people and employees. Raul and Jose the bell boys have all the anwsers on where to go. "Beautiful Hotel with Amazing Views"
Would absolutely return to this all-inclusive hotel. The views from our junior sweet were breathtaking - we could even see whales in the ocean off in the distance! The staff was always polite and willing to assist in any way they could. Yes, they attempt to set you up with a timeshare presentation, but just say no and you're on your way. The food was […] delicious, the only "complaint" would be that the formal Mexican restaurant, Agave, really wasn't worth it & would have been better with more authentic Mexican cuisine options. However, the buffet restaurant, Don Diego, had amazing food and a variety of choices each day & the waiters were excellent. The views from Don Diego were gorgeous - overlooking the city & marina. Everything you could possibly need or want was at this hotel- the mini fridge was stocked each day, as well as the bottled water. If you wanted to leave the property for any reason, it was a quick 10 minute walk to the marina where you could also find anything and everything you could possibly want or need. Yes, some of the walking was "steep," but the hotel is built on a mountain, but that is what makes the landscape so exquisite. One of the best hotels, and one of the best all-inclusives, I've ever stayed. Will definitely be back. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"All Around Awesome Vacation Experience"
Sandos Finnestera was the best all-inclusive vacation resort I have ever been to. The food was outstanding. The buffet menu changed daily and was excellent. The other resteraunts were equally good, and there was always something open and available to eat. 24 hour room service was great, and being able to order off the menu pool side was a huge bonus! […] The Cupcake was a great coffee/dessert bar. The staff was excellent, from the pool entertainment, to the waiters, the nightclub, front desk staff, maids, everything! The location was perfect! We watched whales from the beach, walked to the Marina, took a short cab ride to Madeno Beach. Shopping and resteraunts were right down the road all in walking distance. The resort was clean and beautiful, and newly renovated. I absolutey had the best time and would highly reccommend this resort to anyone traveling to Cabo! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Nice staff, but struggled to get a king bed"
Long story short: say NO to the presentation they offer you at check in & they won't bother you again! Also had to deal with having two "queen" (actually more like uncomfortable full beds) when we reserved a king! We were informed we could check for a opening the next day because they'd have checkouts- which didn't happen apparently- we were first on […] the list for the room change but didn't receive it for 3 days, very unfortunate considering our room was out of the way- 5th floor and my 6ft 3 boyfriend and I hardly fit on one bed plus we were celebrating our anniversary! :( *Freddy "Kruger" was the best bell man ever!! He fought for our chance to get a new room and constantly checked in with us! Tip him well! Hotel layout in confusing at first- read the book in your room to see where everything is because the concierge wasn't very informative. *Alex the event coordinator was AMAZING! Along with all of the all inclusive restaurant & bar staff! Bring a lot of 1$ bills to tip them because they're awesome!! There is no ATM in the hotel, and no one ever had change for a 20$. LOCATION is beautiful, private beach(no swimming tho) gorgeous pool, cabanas, volleyball, even played flip cup at the pool. Awesome marina view but quite a walk to medano beach, ATTN DO NOT sleep in your bed after getting a henna tattoo, it got everywhere and I was charged 130$ for a cleaning charge, when it was only on ONE SHEET, we were running to the airport so I just paid the fee! "Excellent choice for first time to Cabo"
We did the all inclusive for five days in January, excellent food variety and choices of places to eat. Staff are there to please, but do their best when tipped. All speak enough English to be understood, and all really want to be friendly and helpful. One caution! If you use Greyline to shuttle to the airport, be sure to verify a day after you register […] that the concierge actually enters your reservation in the computer - in our case we realized at the departure time that our written reservation to return to the airport had not been entered into the computer system by the concierge whom we dealt with; therefore, the shuttle we were expecting did not arrive! Needless to say this stress was not welcome at the end of an otherwise wonderful vacation. So suggest you have a second staff double check your reservation. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great location. Excellent food"
We loved the close proximity to shopping and the harbor. This hotel has a beautiful location. We were on the all-inclusive plan and ate at the buffet which we found to be excellent. The rooms are plain and could use an update, but I believe much of the money was spent on the restaurants and common areas which are stunning. One thing that was a bit […] annoying was that we were required to visit with a hotel staff member who was trying to get us to sign up for a time-share presentation before we could get our room key. We later found that time share sales are all the rage in Cabo, but thought it was a bit cheesy for the hotel itself to pressure us before they would give us our room key. "Great hotel on the beach"
Incredibly friendly, helpful staff. Beautiful location. It is on the Pacific, so you can't swim in the ocean on the beach, but the many pools and hot tubs make that not an issue. A great place to have a relaxing vacation, also walking distance to town and clubs in town.Genuine Expedia guest review

I must say upon reading the reviews on here I was a little skeptical to book this hotel and I am glad we did. Upon check in our room was not ready so we went to have lunch and when we came back and was led to our room noticed (because they had booked the room we were supposed to have) they had upgraded out room to a marina view renovated room. We had […] a beautiful room and you could go out on the balcony and watch the activities and bands playing. All of the staff was very friendly attentive and accommodating. Our overall stay was very pleasant. The food was excellent, the service staff was very friendly and made each trip to get beverages or food enjoyable. Freddy, Lind and all the working people at the hotel treated us with respect and actually made us fell welcomed. I would ensure you have transfer voucher in hand when you land as that can cause a long […] wait for your 45 minute ride to the resort. It seemed that once we declined the timeshare (90 minute tour) we were set aside by the lobby reps, I would re-think the attitudes of some of the folks in your lobby area selling adventures. "Perfect location across the street from the Marina"
We had a great time at Sandos Finnestera. If you go expecting a 3 star hotel, you will be happy. If you go expecting a 5 star hotel, you will be disappointed - it is not a 5 star hotel in any way. The location of the hotel is perfect. It is right in between two very nice resorts right across the street from the Marina and just a short walk to the heart […] of town. The rooms are clean and spacious, but nothing special. The food is good, but there are only 3 restaurants for dinners, so they get kind of boring if you're there for a whole week. We did eat out for 2 nights because we were tired of the resort food. The staff is all very friendly, but the service is extremely slow. Be prepared to wait for 45+ minutes just to order a bagel for lunch and it took well over an hour to check in upon arrival. Expedia guests do not get any sort of guaranteed rooms, so be prepared to be on the first floor of the hotel and near the front door. The beach towel situation is ridiculous. You only get one beach towel per person that you have to pick up at the front desk. Often they were out of clean beach towels and didn't have clean ones ready until the afternoon. It seems like a silly thing, but when you want to go to the pool in the morning, it gets frustrating not to have a clean towel. Overall, we loved our vacation and we would go back. Cabo is a very lively town with lots to do. The swimming with dolphin excursion is located directly across the street and was fabulous. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Beautifull resort. We had a deluxe bay view room with a beautifull marina view. Food was excellent and plenty of drinks. "Steps and lots of Steps"
The hotel overall was very nice but certainly not conducive to anyone with walking issues. We were placed in the new section and to get to and from our rooms there was a long distance and many, many steps to traverse. Also my oceanview junior suite was only an oceanview if I tried to look past the large tree right off my balcony and then over the building […] across the street, that was very disappointing. Additionally while there we were bombarded by hotel employees trying to sell you something, whether it was a "time share" or a tour package, that became very annoying and left an unpleasant taste to the overall experience. I would recommend but with the caveat that anyone going be aware of the difficulty getting to certain sections and the barrage by some hotel staff selling their product. "NEED PROFESSIONAL TRAINING!!!!"
I understand it's an all inclusive but stay with me on this. Facilities were amazing, beautifully done and location. Though, and this is a big "but", the staff had no idea what they were doing. Not a clue. I got my room in seconds (after their FIRM 3pm check in time) but my entire family had to wait 6 hours for their room while others just walking in […] got their rooms on the spot. The Buffet Don Diego's was a fantastic little buffet if they ever seat you, when NO ONE was in the restaurant they took 30 minutes to get us a table...so we just walked by them and set up our own table. I ordered room service 5 times and 5 times it NEVER SHOWED. Even after calling and them saying they were on their way. The Marlin Room...supposed fine dining...wow...I have never walked out of a restaurant in my life. The waiter had not heard of half the things on the menu (I speak Spanish). We never got our drinks...we walked over to Don Diego's. With all this said, the bartenders were fun and great, the facilities much made up for our poor dinning experience. The people are all VERY VERY nice but lack major training. Coffee bar on the cliff was AMAZING and friendly. "I have absolutely no complaints!"
Location! Location! Location! You are on Lands' end, just breath that in for a moment, WOW! The resort is on a private beach that faces the Pacific Ocean. The sand is so gold & sparkles like its littered with diamonds. You can not swim here, the rip tides are too strong & there are deep drop offs quick! It doesn't matter, the water is so blue it takes […] your breathe away. We saw a Grey Whale our first morning, right from the beach no binoculars needed! The resort is well laid out with elevators and stairs, hidden terraces along the way to soak in the views. There are multiple restaurants & bars located on each end of the resort. My favorite meals Breakfast; Omelet @ Don Diego, Lunch; Battered Sea Bass & Civiche @ Agave, Dinner; Blue Fin Tuna @ Blue Marlin. JR suites are closest the the beach but you probably get 2 Qs. If this is what you sleep in at home do it, the rooms and terraces are huge! If you want a K book a Finisterra suite, they are located on the cliff and have amazing panoramic views. Staff; Enrique @ pool & Tortuga, remembered my name from day 1 & was very attentive. Yan @ front desk goes above and beyond, also Jose will help make your stay comfortable in anyway he can. Edgar @ Stones club is eager to please and will keep the drinks flowing, BTW there is no such thing as a weak drink at this resort & we were 2 couples who drink often & all agreed. "Beautiful pools and outdoor restaurant and bar"
We were part of a ten person group that recently stayed at the Sandos Finisterra hotel. Our rooms were clean and large and most of us had an ocean view. The biggest draw back to the rooms were the bedding. The sheets were almost like muslin and appeared quite old. The one blanket was rather ratty although it was covered on either side by a sheet. Our […] stay at the hotel was inclusive of all food and drinks...including alcohol. I have to say that the food was poor. I realize that a large buffet is hard to keep hot and tasty but we all agreed we had to choose carefully to create a decent meal. The cocktails and beer were great and the three pools and cabanas that were offered were beautiful. It was very nice laying out by the pool and there was a very nice pool that was available for family use. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
