Ramada D MA Bangkok - Bangkok

Overall it was satisfactory. Internet did not work in room even though we graded to an Internet floor. TV in the room was antique as was the furnishings. Of the three comparable hotels we stayed while in Bangkok the ramada was the least favourable. Having said that it was still fair value, clean and met all our needs other than wifi.

I was charged 1000 Bath on my credit card as a guarantee. The only charges on the room is the phone call I made which I paid in cash. When I inquired about the 1000 bath, they told me that I will refunded in a few weeks. Using Bangkok as a hub to visit neaby countries I stayed in three diffeerent hotels in the same general area this summer. The D'Ma definitely wins out in the area of 'best breakfast', and nicest room. For a first tie visitor the location, although only a 10 minute walk to the busy Pratunum garment district could be a little confusing, and the taxis […] and tuk-tuk drivers can be a little agressive in trying to get customers. However--- if you are there for a few days, it is easy to find everything you want in that area-- including convenience stores, interenet shops, laundry, and even barber shops... The hotel is excellent, but do not book a tour with the tour desk in the lobby. They lied to our face and told us that we were only going to go to the floating market and tiger temple and we would be back to the hotel by 4:00 and that the van would only have 2-6 people. Hotel is centrally located in Bangkok. The Makassan Skytrain to the Airport is not walking distance and you will need to take a cab from the Makassan station. There is a complimentary tax service to the Makassan station from the hotel. Over all this is a budget hotel so I would not recommend it for a Honeymoon.

We booked here because we thought it was within an easy walk of the Makkasan station at the terminus of the new train line from the new airport. It really isn't if you have any luggage. Worst hotel I have ever been to in Asia. No one spoke English which was unusual for it being a Ramada. They ruined my designer clothes, I asked for dry clean and they said yes, but ended up shredding the pockets by washing it normal. The manager came up and offered me $10 bucks lol. The hotel was good, ambient wise, comfort wise. Only thing that had frustrated was in the initial stage during check in time. The staff were not professionally trainined at teh time of our check in (9th September @ 12.00 pm) It took more thatn an hour to complete the check in process & the staff were not giving proper answers for our query.

Here's everything you need to know: 1) The decor of the hotel, including the room rugs are slightly dated, but for the price of the hotel it does not matter. 2) The bathrooms are large and include amenities such as shaving kits, which is a nice touch. 3) The free breakfast is beyond worth it!!! So much good food and several types of juice or water is […] also included. 4) There is a pool and small gym on the 8th floor but I cannot comment on them because I didn't use them, though the pool looks very nice and is outdoors. 5) FREE unlimited wi-fi access is available in the lobby and on the 8th floor. It is also available on certain floors deemed "business" floors. 6) The surrounding neighborhood is a typical Bangkok neighborhood but don't be worried by this. I did a lot of walking and had no troubles. Yes, taxi's will solicit you but that happens on every corner in Bangkok. Just down the street the scene changes as that is the end of the business district. The vendors become nowhere to be found and the BTS train station is in site. 7) It's about a 10 - 15 minute walk to the BTS station from the hotel depending on how fast you walk. 8) The comfort of the bed is average. 9) The staff are helpful. 10) The rooms are large 11) The exchange rates offered by the hotel are lousy so I wouldn't recommend exchanging money at the hotel. 12) There are 3 elevators so waiting isn't a problem. 13) Overall, the hotel is a good value for the money. The staff are quite helpful and friendly and the hotel is generally ok, but for the same price there are simply too many other options. I was on the non-smoking floor but smell of smoke seeped in from the air vent. The mattress was also very hard.

A decent hotel, was not as close to the malls as we had been led to believe...need to assist travellers a bit more in how to get around. Room Air Conditioning left the room a bit hot at times so not as comfortable. Could do with a bit more shelter spots around the pool got very hot. First the good points. We had a standard room which was very comfortable, clean and spacious. Also the outdoor pool was sufficiently large to allow for a decent swim and there were ample chairs and sunbeds available. The downside really is location. Though maps on the Internet indicate underground and skytrain stations nearby they are not and are about […] about 2kms away. The result is that you are obliged to use taxis wherever you go and brave Bangkok traffic. Another irritation is that internet wifi access is not available in the rooms and can only be picked up in the lobby and by the pool.
