This is a lovely old Victorian Hotel. When one man asked if there was air conditioning, it was very warm in the hotel, the employee said, " If there was air conditioning in the 1800's, then there is air conditioning now." So, enjoy the ambiance and imagine what it must have been like when you had to wear dresses that covered everything and coats and […] ties continually when it was 95 degrees. Great breakfast that came with the room, piano music that wafted up to our balcony and even the bath down the hall was fine. They gave you robes for the trip. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great for couples or entire family"
The staff was fantastic. Restaurant was wonderful. Location was great. Do not be afraid of 'shared bathrooms', it was just like being in a dorm! Remember, the hotel was built far before indoor plumbing and they have done a wonderful job preserving this place. The setting is absolutely beautiful and plenty of room to relax on balconies outside your room. […] This comes in handy at the end of the day. Great place to read or play cards. "A quintessential English visit to the Wawona"
The only problem was the shower. The shower head was useless. I had a bath instead.Genuine Expedia guest review
The idea of being in the park overrode the bad experience when I made the reservation. After staying there, being outside the park would have been just fine and more to my liking.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"step back into hisory!"
Walking in here was like taking a step into history! Friendly attentive staff and good food. Room with bath was basic but would've been luxious in 1950! Small and dark for modern times. Stayed for 1night which was maximum I could've stayed here with the lack of modern amenities like wifi.Genuine Expedia guest review
"A memorable hotel in the middle of Yosemite Park"
It is rated 2 or 3 stars only because it doesn't look like a contemporary hotel with the amenites we are all used to - like a bathroom and shower in every room or king-size bed. It doesn't have a TV or minifridge. I don't think I saw AC either (although I doubt you'll ever need it there). All of this because there was no TV or AC or king-size beds in […] hotels in 1870-1918 when it was built. It is an absolute must to stay there when you visit Yosemite. It is so gracefully built and decorated, the views and portraits take you back in time, and history permeates every single aspect of this charming hotel. Resembling a mountain resort from the times long gone, the owners were right not to convert it into a full service hotel but kept it all very original. Its history is also closely linked to the history of the Sierra Nevada mountains, nearby Mariposa Grove and Yosemite park itself. If you have appreciation for history or just want to stay somewhere very different, this is the place for you. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
This is a beautiful location. We only stayed one night and I don't believe got the most out of the hotel. You really need to stay a couple of days. HOWEVER...there are no amenities in the room, including no TV or TELEPHONE. didn't really like the latter. No help with luggage or checking in. For someone with some back or leg problems this was AN ISSUE. […] And they were way behind the power curve in trying to check people in....the line was litereally out the door and double wide. It's close to the South entrance for the redwoods. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Wawona Hotel - great place to stay in Yosemite"
Overall, very nice experience. We were there for our wedding anniversary. We stayed in the Moore Cottage building which had shared restroom / shower room for the 8 rooms in the cottage. If you are wondering, these are not a community restroom / shower environment. You have your privacy since the restrooms/shower are made for one user at a time. Moore […] Cottage also had it's own nearby parking among the trees. I would recommend you ask for a room in Moore Cottage. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Lovely place if you are a sound sleeper"
Charming place to stay. It feels like a sort of time warp, in a good way. Slower pace and beautiful setting. I will stay there again, and honestly I love it, but it is noisy given that people are walking around to go the bathrooms in the middle of the night, and the walls are thin....bring you ear plugs and sleeping pillsGenuine Expedia guest review
"It's a great park"
Hotel was good for its age and being in a National Park....food was very poor....hotel staff are outstanding. Ambiance of the entire property is worth all of the little problemsGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Short stay is recommended"
The reason for my rating as "OK", is that we rented a room with a shared bath & restroom. Since it's an old hotel the walls are very thin and you can hear the people next to you on both sides. When going out to use the shower or shared toilet you'll wake up during the night to hear the door slam shut from the other rooms, as well as your own room. I […] would not recommend a long stay in a room without a bath or toilet, inconvenient. Although, everyone should experience this old hotel at least once in their life time. Nature is beautiful to say the least. Mule deers grazing the grounds and the people who works there are very friendly and the complimentary breakfast was fantastic, as well. It was the worst $130 dinner that we have ever had. Breakfast was good. They shouldn't put families with loud small children next to couples looking for a romantic getaway. This wasn't what we experienced when we were there four years ago.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

Shower head required some work. Historic setting. Great service with buffet breakfast . Quiet settingGenuine Expedia guest review
We spent 2 nights at Wawona. The place is amazingly beautiful. The room was comfortable, esthetically pleasing and clean and the bed was very comfortable. We had the "shared bathroom" experience. It was clean, and accessable. The historic aspect of the hotel is carefully nurtured throughout the facility. The only nod to the 21st century is the wifi […] in the sunroom. It is a true escape from the hustle and bustle of modern times. The food at the hotel was delicious, and well presented. Nightly entertainment from 5:30-9:30 is provided by Tom Bopp, who plays and sings oldies at the piano while guests sip drinks and nibble hors deovres by the fire. He adds to the historic ambiance by sharing his vast knowledge of the history of the place, and sticking primarily to a repertoire of songs from about 1900-1950. The desk staff was always friendly and helpful, as was the service staff. All in all, a wonderful, experience in a charming place. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
time to adjust to no TV, newspaper, cell phone, or internet. They do have WiFi availability in one room but inconvenient. The old hotel does make you think about being in a scary Steven King novel. But staff is very nice and very historic feeling hotelGenuine Expedia guest review
"Will come back again"
We stayed at the Wawona hotel for 2 nights, but we were very pleased with the service there. We booked our double bed-shared bath through Expedia for 2 adults, but we happened to have our 2 kids at the last minute and the staff at Wawona (Josh) was able to up grade our room from a double bed to a bigger room (king bed+ sofa bed for 4 people) without […] any extra charges (room #220). I thought shared bath was a bad idea, but actually they kept the shared bath room very clean the whole time that we were there. Besides, it was just a few steps from our room, so we did not have any problem with that. We also had complimentary breakfast and it was very decent for a "camping trip". The only thing is the location of the hotel is quite far from Yosemite Village (about 45 minutes). We will def. go back there next time. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Quick and efficient hassle free check-in, great "drink hours" with piano accompaniment in the lobby with burning fireplace. Parking was a bit of inconvenience because there are not that many spots in front of the hotel. Dinning room service was accommodating and attentive; however, buffet style breakfast (scramble egg) was cold.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"A world of its own"
The hotel dates back to the 1870s and has a certain charm as well as a certain creakiness as a result. We liked sitting in front of the fireplace in the evening while old favourites were played and sung to at the piano and we liked having to overflow park our car deep and dark among the sequoias at back as the front park area was way over-full. But […] we didn't like having to wait for a table in a dining-room built when the hotel was much smaller or having to lug our baby's buggy up and down the steps to our 1915-built room or that the internet was only accessible in a distant pavilion or on the grass outside it. But this kind of our place seems as good away as any to do Yosemite now that Ansel Adams and the narrow-gauge railway are both long gone. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Charming! A delightful experience in a seasoned, historical property. Quite a nice place. Better when hotel is not full, otherwise you may need to wait for breakfast or dinner. We were there at Christmas, lobby well decorated, nice fire the whole day for warming up. We decided to stay in this hotel considering that it was "inside" the park. There is nothing nearby, if you don't want to eat in their restaurant, you have to drive to Oakhurst (20-30min). So one might as well stay in Oakhurst! About the hotel: This hotel is a historic landmark... and so is most of the furniture in the rooms! We got a room with shared […] bath... turns out that there is 1 bathroom for all the men in the entire building, and one for women, and pretty inconvenient to access. You go there in the freezing cold, and have to wait outside...for who knows how long (they provide you robes though)... get the idea?? There is one toilet on every floor too(thankfully!). The heating in the room cannot be controlled, they check-in material says to open window if it gets too hot... The carpet could not have been dirtier...The rooms don't have intercom/telephones...so good luck if you have questions for the receptionist The hot breakfast was good... but you had to wait in line to get seated which was kind of annoying... but I think it was more so that people tip the waiters before leaving their table! Also surprising was the demographic in the hotel... this being in California, I had expected to see people with many cultural backgrounds... Anyhow, the lady at the check in counter didn't seem very welcoming, infact she seemed surprized/annoyed to see me,,, "how can I help you" is rarely the way people are welcomed at check-in...afterall I did pay for my stay through expedia!! We had the best stay. The hotel is old but very comfortable. We like it because there is no phones, internet or TV in the room. Our 1st stay at the Wawona was wonderful! Old charm, excellent staff, and you can't beat the setting! A little cold to go outside for shared showers but well worth it because of the location. Small but cozy. Reasonable rates for inside the park. Free continental breakfast. Not the best breakfast but it is free. Wifi room was all the way across the other side of where we were staying. Lovely laid back hotel. We had a room with shared bathroom. First night our room was right beside bathrooms & noisy with fans going all night. Wawona is a beautiful hotel in a stunning setting. I was happy with our small room and didn't mind the outside bathroom. My husband was not happy however and missed the "usual" facilities , coffee machine , king size bed etcGenuine Expedia guest review
We loved The Wawona Hotel. Thought it was going to be more run down and the share bath situation a hassle but in fact it was the opposite. The hotel is very beautiful and in the most stunning location imaginable. We stayed […] over the 4th july week and the restaurant coped quite well under pressure and a full house. A hotel with character, history and strong feelings of former times. Summer camp for grown-ups (shared bathrooms and showers; although private baths are available) -- with amazingly delicious coffee, an ample continental breakfast, great home cooked meals, generous porches looking […] out onto the lawn and historic fountain.
