Dingy, dirty room. Holes in carpet, dust and trash in blankets. Soap one time, bath mat another, but not both. Dimly lit. Adequate but overpriced food. Great location, can walk to Yosemite Falls; but a premium price for a room I wouldn't stay in if there were any other choice.

We asked for a remodeled room and it was so nice, all eco-friendly. They really thought everything through. We took the shuttle everywhere, this hotel was the best location to see the valley, looking at the other options when we were there, this is the best place! AND a super comfy bed to boot

Considering some negative reviews about the lodge, we were happily surprised by the hotel and service. We stayed in the renovated part of the lodge, which was very spacious, clean, well maintained with balcony and gorgeous views of the park. We could not have been happier! The views are amazing and you can't beat the location. Everything beautiful and epic about Yosemite is either a walk or short bike ride away. Hotels were up kept and comfortable. It’s not a 5 star resort but if that’s what you are looking for in the middle of Yosemite then go spend over 500 bucks a night at the Ahwahnee. The check in time is a little […] ridiculous (5 pm), and the parking is pretty inconvenient and far from your hotel room. But those are my only two complaints. Our first time visit to Yosemite and the perfect place to stay and tour from. The room was clean and promptly made up and the staff was very helpful. Two facilities for food service plus a bar (limited meal service) and a grocery/gift shop. Refrigerator in room. Hotel location is very close to the falls. The name is misleading. It is not a lodge. It is a main reservation desk and several different buildings that you stay in. One building was a long two story motel looking building and others were stand alone two story buildings with four to six rooms in them. We were in one of those buildings. The room we had was just refurbished. New carpet, drapes, […] bathroom fixtures etc. It was small but very comfortable. Very little time was spent in the room as every minute is spent taking in the beauty of the Park. The room did have a TV and WiFi. I don't think we used either. You are very close to outstanding views of Yosemite Falls. Upper and Lower. At the "lodge" complex there is a cafeteria, nature store, nice restaurant. lounge for drinks and a limited menu. room for showing films and small gift and junk food store. The shuttle bus stops at the lodge so it is easy to get to all areas on the floor of the valley. From the lodge it is a short walk to the village with a large grocery store, visitor center, Ansel Adams gallery, museum, and deli. (great sandwiches). Other options for places to stay in the park are a high end hotel or camping. We were very satisfied with our stay at the Yosemite Lodge. We had a great time hiking, snowshoeing and taking pictures of the beautiful sites. We enjoyed the lounge for a beer and sandwich before getting a goodnights sleep in the room. Read more

While the park is beautiful and the hotel looked as if it had a recent renovation, this did not include the rooms' heating systems. The circulation fan clanged when running and the metal cover was loose so it rattled. The choice was to have heat (26 degrees outside temperature) or quiet for sleeping. Since it was late when we discovered this and we […] were staying 1 night, I jammed some things into the heater cover to dampen the rattling noises so we could sleep. Other rooms also have this problem, because we could hear the same noises coming through the wall from the room next to us, which was the other reason for not choosing to spend the night shuttling our belongings from room to room. One might expect conditions like this at a cheap motel, but at $149 a night, it would seem that they could do better. My understanding is that the Park Service sole sources its contracts for operating these facilities so there is little incentive for vendors to do a better job of maintaining them. The desk staff are helpful but slow. I waited for 20 minutes with 5 other guests while one couple was being attended to. While I appreciate that staff should be accommodating to guests, they should also recognize when they need to keep the line moving. In my case, a tour bus was kept waiting when I thought that I had allowed enough time to get my checked bags. I love the national parks but disappointed that one must afford the Ahwahnee Hotel's $440 a night cost to get a good room and service. Read more

We were pleasantly surprised with the level of sophiscation of the Mountain View Restaurant and the quality of the food. The Lodge was conveniently located for a short walk to the Falls, and a doable walk to the Awanee and the Visitor's Center. We also recommend the 2 hour bus tour.

The setting is spectacular and the best—and only—alternative to the luxurious and expensive Ahwahnee. Although the rooms are spacious and well designed, the one we stayed in needed lots of repair and had cheep fixtures and poor lighting. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Reserve well in advance.

After arriving at 4pm, we were asked to wait an hour before our room was ready, we went back to the desk at 4.55pm as other guests were being shown to their room only to be told it still wasn't ready. I went to another receptionist at 5pm only a few minutes later and was told it was ready. Strange if you ask me - also who has a 5pm check in?! We were […] then able to purchase the 'Stay n Play' package from reception which included $175 worth of activities for $50, however when we were asked to pay they the actual price was $70 (as we didn't pay for room and package together) We then had to carry our bags for a good 5 minute walk through the mud from the car park, far, far away from our room. Once we got to our room our phone was ringing and it was the front desk telling us that our 'Stay and Play' packages we no good as we wanted to use them on a weekend. No where on your pamphlets does it state that it should be $70 or that it can only be used on weekdays. NOT IMPRESSED! We also only had hot water one of the days and our air conditioner 'clicked' all night, we had to get up multiple times to bang it for it to stop (which it did not), reception was yet again unhelpful. We did not really enjoy our stay, the room itself was clean however, for the price you pay I would expect a lot more. Definitely look elsewhere. Read more

The location of the hotel was great. I could see Upper Yosemite Fall from my window! I was told my room was recently renovated. It was very clean, with nice decor and everything looked in good condition. The heater worked great, since the night temperature got down to about 14 degrees. The shower was hot, but the water temperature was very finicky to […] get right. Pretty good wifi connection too. There were a few cons. The bed was very hard, and uncomfortable. Also, Expedia's website said there was a full fridge and freezer. There wasn't-only a tiny minifridge. It put a damper in my food plans as I had brought my own to keep from spending too much. There was no microwave or coffee pot, although the lodge gives coffee vouchers to use in the food court. Overall, an ok hotel to visit in the wintertime. Bath tub needs to be repaired. The shower is kine of difficult to operate. Water flow was too slow. Blanket is too old. One of them has hole in it. The pillows are not too good. One is too low and two is too high. We had a hard time to go to sleep. We both have neck pain the next morning. We like the cleaniness of the room.

Hotel much in need of updating. Needs new carpet, and bed Linens. Have stayed in many nicer hotels for less. Embarrassing for it to be the hotel for families in one of our national treasures. We spent 2 great nights in Aspen lodge #1407, a spacious double room with refrigerator, enjoying the incomparable view in the evenings from the balcony. Highly recommended for "basecamp " for exploring one of the finest destinations on the planet. Dinner was fabulous, also!

Considered the Ahwahnee and it's premium costs. It definitely is elegant, but that is not what a National Park is to me. The lodge room was spacious, comfortable and had a refrigerator, wide screen TV (didn't use), and comfortable beds. Nice alarm clock / iPhone/Pod dock (unless you have the new "5" series). No coffee maker / water heater. The location […] is the best part of this Lodge. Easy access to the loop through Yosemite Valley and plenty of the amenities close by. The cafeteria style restaurant served good food. Their "Lodge Breakfast" was a heaping plate of potatoes, eggs, breakfast meat and toast for about ten bucks. Plenty of choices breakfast, lunch and dinner. They had a more up-scale restaurant and a nice bar packed with SF Giants fans while we were there. You couldn't walk to breakfast or from dinner without seeing does and their fawns nibbling on the trees next to the sidewalks. If you want / expect luxury, go to the Ahwahnee. For most people this is just enough rustic to make you feel like you're in the Park without sacrificing basic comfort. Read more

What we got was a very basic room in a one floor barracks-looking setup that could use a facelift and a bathroom with black or no grout around the tub and "grey" towels that used to be white. There was a "food court" that was not very good. The Mountain Room restaurant was better and in a lovely setting, but very expensive.
