Efficient and friendly staff Room small but adequate
"perfect site"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 4, 2012
Sited on the banks of the River Clyde there is an easy walk along the riverbank to Wellshot island salt marsh, high winds have resulted in litter which no one seems responsible for. Food at the hotel was delicious and the menu varied, enjoyed lovely breakfast which though buffet style was constantly replenished so no waiting.Friendly staff supplied tea/coffee and toast with a cheery word. Loved the decor on our corridor and in our room which were spotlessly clean and comfortable. Wifi in foyer friendly bar which also did bar meals. There is a bus service near the hotel to the city centre.
"welcoming atmosphere"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 3, 2012
Our stay was pleasant and the staff were second to none as far as service and attention went. Only disappointment was slow 'topping up' of breakfast items and tables not cleared. Has not happened on previous stays. Overall experience - good.
"Perfect Setting"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 3, 2012
The quality of the hotel could not be in doubt. Staff were interested in you at reception and you were given their full attention. This high standard of service was obvious through out the hotel---polite and unhurried.

Room furnishings and fittings starting to look a bit old. Wallpaper in the room was enough to give you a headache. Waste bin in the bathroom still had the previous guests waste in it when I checked in. Not great. Ok for one night. I probably wouldnt stay here again. There are plenty of similar priced hotels in Glasgow to choose from.

"Marks Hotel Glasgow"
Close to all amenities and surrounded by numerous top class eating places. Spoilt for choice. Car parking not an issue as Q park within walking distance of hotel. Staff friendly and attentive. Rooms were clean, with furnishings and decor well colour coordinated and pleasing to the eye. Overall, this hotel offers good value for money.
"Just ok"
Great location, great staff, great breakfast, but the rooms and the public areas are tired and need a makeover. Promised a superior room and was obviously shown to a bog standard room with tatty wallpaper, cracked sink and not so clean carpet

"Holiday Inn Express West Nile St. Glasgow"
Our booking was changed from the Marks to the H I Express. This I believe was unusual. Changed bookings are normally directed to the main holiday Inn,which is connected to the Express Inn. We could not fault the staff, they inhanced our stay. Thier friendly attitude made up for not being booked into the main Holiday Inn.
"Brilliant location and wonderful staff"
Very friendly staff. No question or matter was too small for them. Room was comfortable, warm and clean. A definite recommendation.
was at the hotel for week end shopping with the girls was nice only fault was breakfast very busy and room had to many tables close together busy busy
"Marks Hotel in Glasgows Bath Street"
We arrived early at the hotel and were greeted by extremely friendly staff who advised us that our room was ready for us and throughout our stay we had absolutely no complaints at all and I would recommend this hotel to anyone.
"Marks Hotel- Make sure you bring ID for breakfast!"
The Hotel it's self is lovely although I was shocked at how rude the dining staff were. My cousin and I came downstairs in time for breakfast and gave our room number and waited to be seated but the woman at the door did not believe we were guests of the hotel and asked to see out room key, which was not only completely rude, but embarrassing as there […] were people behind us sniggering and they did not get asked for their room card! who in their right mind would just wander in from the street to get breakfast?! It really put a downer on our morning. Read more

"Marks Hotel in Glasgow, good place to stay."
Recently returned from a 3 night stay at this hotel. We were quickly checked in to our room which was spacious and modern and clean. The hotel is ideally situated in Bath Street, 5 minute walk from Buchanan Galleries. There are plenty of restaurants to choose from in the surrounding area. We enjoyed a hearty breakfast in the mornings and though the […] hotel was busy the staff worked hard to make sure everyone was served. We also had a pre-theatre supper meal at the hotel one night which was very good value for a three course meal for two which included a bottle of wine. I would definitely stay at this hotel again. "Mark's Hotel in Glasgow"
The location of this hotel is very close to the city centre whilst being in quiet street. There was a good choice of breakfast, both continental and cooked which was served by polite and friendly staff. Unfortunately the rooms were extremely hot, making it difficult to sleep. The garish decor didn't help either!
"Mraks hotel, perfect for all city centre amenities"
Lovely hotel, staff friendly, ideally situated for shopping
"Central and reasonable"
Marks is central and very reasonable. Rooms are clean and the breakfast buffet is decent.
Only criticism we had was that although the breakfast was lovely it was not very hot at all. Location was perfect for everything. room was fine and cleanliness was excellent. Will definately book again.
"Great!"
Great great great hotel. Was more than pleased with everything.
"Great"
Great otel, great location, wonderful staff. We actually booked two twin rooms and were offered a penthouse apartment for the same price. It was amazing!
"Marks Hotel - Glasgow"
Brill location which means convenient to get around
"St Marks Hotel Glasgow"
St Mark’s hotel is located in the heart of city centre within walking distance to the major shopping centre and other commonly known high street store and numerous 24 hr small shops. The hotel staffs are polite, friendly and willing to offer advice. The hotel has an array of restaurants, but evening meals can be considerably pricey so be aware, but […] there are others which are reasonably priced and good food. The rooms are basic with the exception of the Superior Rooms but they come with a price tag to match nevertheless rooms are clean, tidy and basically furnished with Tea & Coffee facilities and the added bonus of Wi-Fi. The major downside is the rooms don’t have any air conditioning or mini safe and those at the rear of the hotel have the added nuisance of the air conditioning units of adjacent buildings not ideal if you want to sleep windows ajar for cool air. A number of the guest like us mentioned non-functioning extractor fans in the bathrooms and signs of mould a consequence, but this should not detract you from staying there. The breakfast selection is fairly acceptable, but the bar is slightly on the expensive side, walking around you’ll find a number of pubs some with an extensive range of whiskeys, idea if you are found of this beverage or want to try them out. A another major drawback is parking and you are effectively forced to use the adjacent multi story secure car park, which although discounted for guests of the hotel for a week’s stay you are stung for considerable amount. The car parking fiasco is not mentioned anywhere so be prepared. The overall experience is that the hotel represents value for money, in a central location and within easy reach of the motorway, it not 4* but fairly close. Read more

"Marks Hotel Glasgow"
Great setting for the centre of Glasgow, stayed during the Take That concerts, bus stop on Renfield street, which is the street next to hotel, had express buses going directly to Hampden. The two guys on reception when we arrived were first class, really friendly and welcoming.

"Marks Hotel, Glasgow: Fantastic location"
Arrived to a busy check in area but staff very polite, friendly and apologetic for delay in finding my online booking. Great standard of breakfast included which was made more enjoyable by the humour of the young man hosting it. Would definately return in the future.
"Most enjoyable stay"
A most enjoyable stay was had at the Marks Hotel in Glasgow - the welcome by all the staff was great - the hotel ticked all the boxes for us - disappointed that others don't share our feelings but can't please all of the people all of the time. This was our first stay in Glasgow having visited before for shopping trips mostly. Have to say we'll be […] back and would use the Marks Hotel again for its convenient location friendly staff who looked after all our needs. Read more
"Its not Marks Hotel, its the Perfect Hotel"
I knew the location of the hotel but also read of previous reviews and wasn't disappointed. We arrived early and left our bag to come back later, so this gave us time to go and get some lunch and a bit of shopping (this stay was for my wife's birthday). The hotel is parallel with Sauchiehall Street, which leads you directly to the Buchanan Galleries, […] which is no more than 5 minutes away. If you walk in the opposite direction to the Galleries, at the top of Sauchiehall Street, you'll find an array of different food outlets and pubs - pretty much anything and everything to cover your pallet and budget! The hotel check in was effortless and once in room, was not disappointed with the level of finish and cleanliness - I've stayed in 5 star hotels before and this was right up there with them. When we went out for the evening, reception asked if there was anything they could help with and offered suggestions of local options for eating and drinking, which was greatly appreciated. Would we stay again ............ you better believe it and are looking to go back and take the kids this time! Read more

"Marks Hotel Glasgow - Good and Not so Good"
I stay in lots of hotels for business and pleasure and usually go back to the same hotels that I like. However, tried somewhere new on my recent stay in Glasgow at the Marks Hotel. The Good Points. Good location on Bath street, very near the shops, bars, nightlife etc. Room (505) was comfortable enough, good beds, clean, flat screen tv - all the […] usual stuff you'd expect of a 4 star hotel Common areas are starting to look tired, but nothing too off putting. Not so Good No aircon in the room, meant the room was very hot, and the windows that did open, only did so slightly. The room has huge glass windows, south facing, so got hot very quickly - and this is in April! Attached restaurant/bar was good - had a good meal with very good service. Room Service Breakfast in room was wrong - one regular and one veggie, both turned out to be regular, and there were missing items. Would I stay here again? Not really, as I do like an air con'd room, and there are nicer hotels for similar prices in Glasgow. However, it is still a good place to stay, if aircon is not an issue for yo Read more
"Wonderful weekend break @ Marks Hotel, Glasgow"
My husband and I stayed here for our wedding anniversary and had a great time. On arrival we were allocated a room with a city view on the 5th floor. The view was not up to much but you could see some of the surrounding city blocks! The room was nicely decorated and was very clean and comfortable. We had dressing gowns and slippers plus extra pillows […] and nice toiletries. The concierge on the desk was extremely helpful and recommended places for us to eat and how to get to the main shopping area. He also offered to call a taxi if wee needed one and said that he could organise reservations for us if we wanted to eat in teh hotel restaurant. The Marks Hotel is quite literally in th centre of the city and we were no more than 10-15 minutes walk from any of the main parts of town and is only 5 minutes from Central Station in a taxi. The room was a bit noisy but given that you are so close to everything you cannot expect it to be totally peaceful. We had a great weekend break here and would definately go back to Glasgow, we would of course book the Marks Hotel for our stay and happily recommend it if you want to be right in the town centre with everything on your doorstep. This was a great hotel to stay in. Very convenient for evrything in Glasgow. The beds were eally comfortable and the room spacious. Staff were very attentive. Would stay again and recommend to anyone.
"Great Place to Stay"
My husband and I stayed for only 2 nights, but I am very glad we chose this hotel. Great location, very friendly staff, clean room, comfortable bed and affordable! We did not eat in the restaurant, so I cannot comment on that. But, I would definitely stay there again. We were on the 5th floor so if the streets were noisy, we didn't hear anything.
"Marks Hotel, Glasgow"
The hotel is centrally situated, the rooms were well equipped, but on the small side, breakfast was good and staff attentive. Parking is a minutes walk.

"Marks Hotel, Glasgow. Perfect for a short break"
This was a repeat visit to Marks Hotel. We arrived early at 11:00 and were immediately given our room key which was a very pleasant start to our short shopping break. The room was clean and comfortable but a little too warm for us. We could however, open the small window. The hotel is well situated for shopping etc and would stay here again.
"Marks hotel..highly recommended"
could not find a fault with this hotel...would def stay again
"Marks Hotel Glasgow"
This is a great hotel it is lovely, comfortable brilliant value for money, It is central to everything, theatres, shops etc.
"Convenient location but also means bit noisy"
Polite and helpful hotel staff at reception. Presentation of hotel and rooms are very good, giving real boutique appearance just as shown on website. Our room was a good size with double and single bed and modern bathroom. Plenty of light from floor to ceiling window although not much air from small window opening and due to traffic and occasional party […] revellers sometimes better to close window against noise. Hotel is well located in city centre near bars, restaurants and shops. Read more
