Their ad showed patio rooms which we booked. They considered a tiny balcony on the second floor a patio, but eventually provided a patio room looking out on the rear of the hotel. I REALLY NEED A RECEIPT FOR THE ROOM WHICH THEY WILL NOT PROVIDEGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Response by Amara Resort and Spa, a Kimpton Hotel Thank you for sharing your experience. We are so glad you enjoyed your stay with us. We hope we have the opportunity to welcome you back. All the best, Patrick G General Manager
We travel rather frequently, but rarely spring for resorts. Obviously booked thru Expedia, but no mention of the addl $23/night resort fee. Also, $13/day wifi fee -BIG thumbs down. Even the chains have free wifi. Overall, the Amara was lovely, but I felt we were nickel and dimed to death.Genuine Expedia guest review
Response by Amara Resort and Spa, a Kimpton Hotel MM We are thrilled that you chose to spend your getaway with us at the Amara. I apologize the amenities included in the resort fee were not shared with you upon arrival. The daily resort includes valet parking, daily yoga classes, access to the steam room and relaxation room at the spa. Complimentary wifi is available when you join Kimpton Kara rewards, which is also free to join. Once you join Kimpton Karma rewards you will receive free wifi at all of our properties throughout the United States. It’s one of the many perks of staying at a Kimpton. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. Warm regards, Patrick G General Manager
"Beautiful Views with Great Service"
We planned a birthday getaway to Sedona at the beginning of this year. The Amara Resort and Spa was our choice based on some other positive reviews. We had the best time in Sedona. The Amara Resort staff was excellent, the resort itself was secluded and beautiful. We will stay here again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Complimentary valet and the men servicing the vechicles were very friendly. Hotel staff very friendly and helpful. Wine and specialty drink daily from 5 to 7 complimentary. Courtyard rooms had excellent views of the red rocks. Rooms were comfortable.Genuine Expedia guest review
My wife and I spent two nights at the Amara in September 2014. The setting is exquisite, the staff is helpful and pleasant, the food at the restaurant was excellent. The guitar player, Eric Martin, was the evening dinner entertainment and his performance was outstanding. I highly recommend the Amara.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Reception front desk poor service with attitudeGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by Amara Resort and Spa, a Kimpton Hotel Anthon, Thank you for sharing your experience. While it’s great to see the 5 –star rating it is very disappointing to hear about your experience with the front desk. There is no room for attitude or poor service at this property for that…I will certainly address immediately. Sincerely, Patrick General Manager
We picked Amara because we had a dog with us and the hotel was very acommodating and made the stay wonderful! The location was perfect - within walking distance to uptown where there are cute stores and restauratns. The hotel restaurant (Salt Rock) is absolutely delicious and has some great views on the patio!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by Amara Resort and Spa, a Kimpton Hotel Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. The Amara, along with all of our Kimpton properties are pet friendly which is really great for all of us pet owners. The location of the property is incredible as you are close enough to uptown Sedona’s restaurants and shops but you feel secluded enough to relax and enjoy the views. Chef Massimo is thrilled to hear you enjoyed your dining experience in SALTROCK. Warm regards, Patrick General Manager
"Decent, nothing great"
first of all, don't be fooled by their different rates for the rooms based on the view. the courtyard view room which i took had one of the worst views, right next to the pool and very very noisy. i downgraded to their patio access room which they were reluctant to give saying that i would not like it.. after i saw that room, it was 10 times better […] than the other costlier room. no breakfast, coffee and tea available, cycles were available which was good. Response by Amara Resort and Spa, a Kimpton Hotel Matt, Sorry to hear that your first room didn’t meet your expectations but glad to hear that we were able to find a room that suited you best. The courtyard and pool area are very popular areas because of the great views of the red rocks. Breakfast is served daily in the restaurant or through room service if you choose to dine in the privacy of your room. Daily coffee from 5:30AM-9AM is a good way to start your day and wine hourly nightly from 5PM-6PM is a great way to unwind, relax and meet some of the other guests all while taking in the view. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. Warm regards, Patrick G General Manager
"right where you want to be"
great location right downtown but yet out of the traffic. staff were tremenedously helpful and courteous. courtyard and pool are perfect for late afternoon and evenings after a day of sightseeing and hiking.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by Amara Resort and Spa, a Kimpton Hotel Jim B, “Right where you want to be…” is music to my ears. Location…Location…Location… close enough to the action but worlds away from the hustle and bustle. The views are incredible and not a better place to be but on the patio enjoying a beverage or two while relaxing and taking it all in. Thanks for sharing your experience Warm regards, Patrick General Manager
"No more classy Amara"
Hotel under new ownership. Remodeled from classy to tacky. Restaurant went from the best in Sedona to the worst.Genuine Expedia guest review
Response by Amara Resort and Spa, a Kimpton Hotel Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. I am sorry to hear that you were disappointed with the recent refresh to the property as well as the new concept in the restaurant. Our designers were inspired by native patterns and indigenous skills, but we’ve reinvented it in a contemporary way instead of trying to be too literal. It now has the Kimpton flare and touches that our guests have come accustomed to over the years. It is fun and relaxed. Our new restaurant, SaltRock, highlights Southwest-inspired cuisine marrying the fresh, light and seasonal approach to California cooking with culinary traditions and ingredients of the Southwest and Verde Valley. Classic in his training, yet innovative in his approach, Chef Massimo is known for connecting tradition with contemporary musings. He is a true rock star.

"Nice hotel with fantastic views"
Excellent location and amenities, unfortunately they feel the need to charge for everything. I don't understand why a hotel that charges that much already would still charge for wi-fi.Genuine Expedia guest review
Response by Amara Resort and Spa, a Kimpton Hotel Greetings Carl, Thank you for sharing your experience. Glad you enjoyed the location and all of the amenities at the property (daily yoga, morning coffee in the lobby, daily wine hour, shuttle within a mile of the property, access to the relaxation area and steam rooms at the Spa, etc.) Wifi is complimentary when you join Kimpton Karma Rewards (it only takes few moments to join and it is also free.) I’m sorry to hear that is took away from your experience and that it was not explained to you upon arrival. It truly is a great perk. Warm regards, Patrick
Heard about the Amara Resort and thought we would try it especially after the remodel and with it's refurbished restaurant. Free parking and greeted by cheerful parking attendant...good start. Check in was uneventful....after discovering that we had no view from our room I went to the front desk to inquire about our reservation but only was told "that's […] the room we booked". OK no inquiry as to how they may help...no suggestion of change even at a higher cost....NOTHING. A bit disappointing soured our entire stay. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"A sweet respite"
This property was ver clean and well maintained. The beds and linens were comfortable. We had a ground floor room and were able to walk right out to the pool. The pool area feels like an oasis in the desert. The surrounding scenery is spectacular. The bathroom is small and really doesn't have any counter space, (tricky for three females to have to deal […] with). The soaps, shampoo and such are vey nice and they offer other toiletry items free of charge if you happen to forget something. They have a shuttle to take guests to the other town locations. The property is very conveniently located but keep in mind that it is an uphill hike to get to the main town road. We utilized the free shuttle to take us to to the top and walked back down the hill later. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Stayed here with some old friends to get caught up while relaxing after a stressful work season. It was an amazing experience! The restaurant serves high quality breakfast foods (try the mushroom and goat cheese omelet), the salt water pool was refreshing, and the court yard offers breathtaking views of the pristine night sky Sedona is famous for. The […] rooms were clean and recently renovated, so thumbs up on the changes. The beds were SO soft! I almost forgot the complementary coffee area AND wine bar daily from 5p.m. We enjoyed them all! "Consistent quality. A"
Consistent quality year after year. The food remains consistantly god despite undergoing some menu rand staff changes over the past few years. The view remains unsurpassed for its specific location. Without taking away from the restaurant, the close proximity to L' Auberge also makes this an exceptionable stay for the price.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Scored a great deal through Expedia to stay here...awesome stay!!! The room was gorgeous, the view was amazing...can see Snoopy Rock! Had always wanted to stay at this property what a disappointment.. Upon check the staff was not welcoming we requested if we could upgrade our room and the answer was no even though he never looked if there was availability. Lounging by the pool was a little disheartening especially when you have such a beautiful scenery. We had to ask twice for pool […] towels, the pool attendant ignored us at least for an hour and half until I had to get up and ask him for service. the pool was extremely cold and they states it was heated which it was not.. I expect a hotel of this caliber to be all about customer service and making sure their guests are taken care of unfortunately I didn't feel that with any of there services.. "Will definitely return"
Wonderful overnight stay. The staff was friendly and helpful. The property is smaller, but nice. Rooms have been redone, and in great condition. We decided on this property for our stay because they are dog friendly. There was a complimentary yoga class offered in the morning, and it was a wonderful! Breakfast in the restaurant was great, and we appreciate […] that there is not an additional fee for room service- just gratuity on the bill. The resort fee covers most things that would otherwise be charged (valet, shuttle, misc service charges) and there are nice offerings such as morning coffee, afternoon wine, and yoga. "Best hotel in Sedona with a great view"
We stayed here 3 nights. This is a very nice hotel. The condition of the hotel is excellent. Rooms are clean, staff is very friendly. Free internet is a plus! The view from the pool area is wonderful. The salt water pool is very nice. The pool is only 4 feet deep. We would stay here again.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Great location and boutique hotel."
Enjoy this small hotel. The rooms are fine, but what makes this hotel special are the friendly staff and the outdoor spaces for swimming and dinning that have the great views of the rocks. Dog friendly, wine happy hour hour and super resteraunt. The location can't be beat.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Nice hotel right in downtown Sedona."
The staff was fantastic! The only drawback was that they don't have an ice machine. You can get ice, but need to ask the front desk staff (who went to the back to grab the ice, with a smile). I mean really...the only drawback was the absence of an ice machine. Obviously, I am knit-picking. The customer service here made the stay really great! I've stayed here before and was pleasantly surprised with the upgrades and the pool that was constructed since my last stay. Great trip overnight with friends. Breakfast was good. My husband and I were on a road trip. We wanted to stay at a nice hotel for a change. I loved how they welcomed my dog. My dog became the 'guest' of the day and they gave her a treat. The hotel is very nice. Room is clean. Highly recommended.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by Amara Resort and Spa, a Kimpton Hotel Jenee, Thank you for sharing your experience. We appreciate you making the Amara one of your stops on your road trip. "Beautiful Setting in the Middle of the City"
Amara is located in the center of the city, it is ultra convenient, and incredibly beautiful. The restaurant, lawn, and pool area overlooks Snoopy rock. At sunset, the rocks glow in orange. It is a beautiful sight. Unfortunately, the same does not hold true for sunrise. The pool is an infinity pool, and just beyond the pool lies a little stream. The […] room has comfortable beds, the supplies (shampoo, soap, etc.) are beautifully packaged. We did find two bugs in the room, but given how close to nature the hotel is, it was no big deal. The hotel offers free yoga classes in the morning, just be sure to sign up ahead of time, since the spots fill up quickly! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Contemporary and charming"
Loved the property. The room was very comfortable with all the needed amenities. The courtyard and infinity pool were romantic, cozy and private. Kids were there during my stay, but it doesn't feel like a family destination--the pool is small and shallow. Loved the complimentary happy hour. The locks to the room were frustrating. "Outstanding customer service & super dog friendly"
First: the location is perfect. Smack dab in the middle of all the action, but you would never know it. It's steps from the creek, too. The public spaces are well organized and the view of the mountain is breathtaking. Second: the customer service is outstanding. Everyone there seems to be genuinely concerned that you have a comfortable stay. From the […] valet to the bar tenders, every one was friendly and courteous and not once seemed put out. I would particularly like to thank the Jen and Leah at the front desk who took care of a problem which was by no means the fault of the hotel and even followed up with a nice cheese plate to ease any discomfort we might have had. I tend to stay at very high end hotels and, even without the aforementioned cheese plate thoughtfulness, I would say the customer service here is at the five star level. Third: unfortunately, if you don't like dogs, this isn't the place for you. If you do, it's doggy heaven. There were a lot of dogs there, but they were well behaved. They don't make you feel like your pet is unwelcome. No long forms, restrictions about where your dog is allowed (outside of the indoor restaurant, of course) or obscene charges or deposits. My dog wasn't forbidden to be on the bed and there are a couple of small areas available for her to do her duty. And it's right by the creek. Perfect. Fourth: and this is the cherry on top, there is an on site spa. Both my partner and I agree that our therapists were top notch Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
The Amara is a lovely hotel! The staff is friendly and helpful, especially the valets who were always there to open the door and welcome you back to the hotel. The hotel […] is conveniently Located right in the main area of Sedona, close to restaurants and shops. Although the hotel is located at the bottom of a hill, the valets are quick to offer you a ride to the top or to local restaurants and shops.
