"Perfect resort in Sedona"
We spent 3 nights at the Amara and plan to return. The location is ideal - off the main road of Sedona, but down a steep hill to what feels like a private canyon backing into beautiful rock views. The staff is super friendly, the size of the resort makes it feel intimate, but still airy. The pool and grounds are lovely. Our kids were thrilled to have […] the pool and hot tub to themselves most times. We had a fabulous dinner in the hotel restaurant, and enjoyed the complimentary and generous wine pours in the lobby every evening. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Response by Amara Resort and Spa, a Kimpton Hotel Lisa, We are thrilled the family vacation was a hit!! Love hearing the great comments about the team. Wine hour is the best hour of the day….with the opportunity to relax while sharing your Sedona adventures with other guests. Not a bad way to end the day. Thanks for sharing your experience. "Pluses and minuses"
We booked through Expedia as a mystery spot and the reservation ended up with one king size bed even though we registered with 3 adults. Amara had no other rooms, so we needed a fold out cot to be brought in. That cot was uncomfortable, so overall, the room comfort and the lack of compassion over this being what happened is why I'm just OK with the […] accommodations. Additionally, I had to ask two separate times to finally get the cot. The facilities are nice, otherwise and the patio view is fantastic. Expect high prices at the on site restaurant and really small portions. It was difficult to not find this arrangement pretentious even though the artistry of each tiny piece of the meal is really high quality. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Ulgy View from Room & Overpriced"
Not worth the $450/night; view from the advertised 'Creek Side' Room was a ugly view blocking 6 foot high wall on the property line and a patch of poorly maintained lawn!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by Amara Resort and Spa, a Kimpton Hotel Gordon, Thank you for taking the time to share your honest feedback regarding your stay. I am sorry to hear that missed the mark on the value in your visit. There are several incredible amenities that are included in your stay; valet parking, daily yoga classes, and shuttle service within a mile radius of the hotel. In addition, we have a daily wine hour from 5p-6p as well as coffee bar in the morning from 5:30am-9am. It’s a great opportunity to meet guests from all over the world as well as find out what adventures they par took in that day, all while soaking up the beauty of Sedona. Sincerely, Patrick Gaskin General Manager
"A fine spot in the middle of Sedona"
A positive hotel experience with nice views from the patio and clean, modern rooms and amenities. Bartender made a killer cucumber jalapeno drink that I'd strongly recommend to anyone looking for something refreshing and savory, but not too fruity or sweet. Valet staff was friendly and had great recommendations for around town. Front desk staff was […] hit or miss. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Nice resort, close to the action"
I found this hotel online and didn't know where it was in Sedona despite several visits there in the past. I think it would be good for first-time visitors and those looking for an extra level of luxury, but it was a bit much for us. The "mandatory" "free" valet parking was a first, and we didn't like leaving our car with strangers for security reasons […] (and also because they tend to jack with the headlight/seat/mirror settings, etc.), even if they were employees of the hotel, so we figured out a way to park the car ourselves--also for free!--within walking distance. I was advised upon check-in there was a free yoga class at 8:30 the next morning at their spa building, but when I and a half dozen other guests showed up for the class we were instructed that we had to sign up in advance and the class was already full for the day. Moreover, their computer system had crashed and I wasn't able to schedule a massage that same day like I wanted to. I set one up for the following day, at a time after check-out because of our schedule, and was instructed that the hotel would extend check-out for spa users. I went back over to the concierge and requested late check-out and was informed the latest they could go was an hour past usual check-out (noon) and yet my massage wasn't until 1:30 and was slated to end at 2:30. Also, they said they couldn't even guarantee a 1 o'clock checkout and I would have to check the next morning to see if a limited number of slots were still available. Weird. The hotel was right downtown and the valet parking made what is usually a difficult parking situation very nice. There was a shuttle that could take us just about everywhere we wanted to go, but we didn't really need it. The fire pit is a nice touch and the food was very good and the views from the patio were wonderful. I would recommend this place […] to anyone. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

We like the Kimpton brand, and the Amara was one of our favorites. The hotel is located right in the heart of Sedona. The rooms are spacious, pretty, and QUIET. The view of the cliffs from the balcony is amazing. The staff was super friendly and helpful. My husband left his laptop there, and they found it and sent it to us via overnight mail so he had […] it the next day. The pool is small and crowded, but we didn't spend much time there. Overall, we loved the Amara and would definitely recommend it to our friends. We are very picky travelers and are used to very nice hotels. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

The pool is beautiful. The hotel staff and valet were very nice. We stayed here to treat ourselves and got a room with a big jacuzzi tub. It was really terrific. "Nice Amenities, Unacceptable Room"
Room priced at $250 per night but had look and feel of mediocre hotel chain, no view and no art. Water in tub was too hot and could not be regulated. Staff was very helpful and conscientous. Food at lunch was tasty and fairly priced. Nice view of and easy access to Oak Creek.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by Amara Resort and Spa, a Kimpton Hotel Richard, Thank you for sharing your experience. I am sorry to hear we didn’t live up to the billing….that is extremely disappointing. "we are very disappointed"
It is a nice hotel with a view. However, the first night they gave us the room 102, which should not be rented as a room at all. It is so close to the elevator and we could sleep because of the irregular loud noise. We talked with the front desk and were told there was no room to exchange for that night. The room was not clean and no pajama was provided […] either, which should be supplied since we moved to another room next day and it was there. The food in the restaurant tasted terrible. The worst dish we ever had in any 3-star hotel. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Excellent Hotel in Gorgeous Setting"
The setting is magnificent, the food in the restaurant is exceptional, and the beds are "oh so soft". This was a very pleasant surprise and the staff works very hard to meet your every need. Shuttle up the hill puts you in the center of uptown. Absolutely wonderful!Genuine Expedia guest review

"Great Kimpton hotel. I recommend it highly."
Super staff and accommodations. The hill which is the only way to get on foot to and from the hotel to the main street is the only drawback that I saw. A later late check out than the 1pm available would be great too. The hotel said the room was needed. And there were pool-side rooms that appeared to be vacant and I was not offered one when I said that […] I preferred a room not facing the back of other buildings. Maybe they were not free yet? It was a nice room, just not with a view - which is always my first preference. Maybe not offered another due to the price I paid online? Maybe they were trying to match type, etc? It will be getting upgrades, I was told by a staff member - so what is great now should be even better! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by Amara Resort and Spa, a Kimpton Hotel Sedona Traveler, Thank you for the kind words about the property and the team. The hill can be a little tough to get up but the guest services team is always willing to take you to the top or anywhere within a miles radius of the property. The hill allows a little seclusion from the busy street with shops and restaurants but is still close enough to enjoy them. The property will be getting a facelift this upcoming summer in the restaurant area, the guest rooms, lobby, and pool and courtyard area. We are all looking forward to it. I hope we have the pleasure of welcoming you back in the future. Warm regards, Patrick Gaskin General Manager

"Beware of hidden charges"
We had to ask for a new room as our first one smelled like a dog. Dog hair was over furniture and floor. We received a new room. Access to our room was difficult. We had to enter two buildings across and open at least five doors until we were in our room. For what we paid, it was sad. It was very small and amenities were sparce, to say the least. No […] place to hang towels in the bathroom. Ending the trip, we had to pay an extra fee a day for services we never requested or used. I asked the desk up front about the charges and she said I should have read the fine print. No free wifi. I would not recommend this hotel. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by Amara Resort and Spa, a Kimpton Hotel Jef, I’m sorry to hear of your disappointing stay and that the resort fee was not explained, that is upsetting. The resort fee includes valet, daily yoga class at 8:30AM, access to the steam and relaxation rooms at the Spa, as well shuttle service within a mile of the property. I appreciate the feedback regarding the hooks in the bathroom that is certainly something we are looking at addressing immediately. We will certainly address the opportunities to improve our service levels moving forward. Sincerely, Patrick Gaskin General Manager

"First Kimpton stay - won't be last!"
From the moment my wife and I arrived in Sedona until the minute we left, the staff was attentive, courteous, and approached every situation with a very high level of service. The room overlooking the creek was perfect and so quiet that we actually slept with our sliding door open a couple nights while listening to the creek. The room was clean and […] the bed was probably the most comfortable hotel bed I have ever slept in - and I have traveled a lot and been in several different chains of hotels. The setting was beautiful, the hotel was convenient to everything, and the concierge was very helpful in guiding us during our stay. Valet and waitstaff at hotel were also outstanding. Top to bottom, one of the best stays I have ever had in a hotel and to top if off this was our 10 year wedding anniversary trip so it turned out perfectly. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

The only thing I would rate this resort down on is the bedding. Pulling back the coverlet, the sheets look slept in, they were wrinkled and disheveled looking. I prefer my bottom sheet to be fitted and tight. The 2nd day the bed was the same way so this must be your standard way of making the bed.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Best Masseuses EVER"
The hotel itself was a bit tired - replace that hallway carpeting! And the room (142) had a bizarre layout. The closet was just weird. The front desk help seemed a little spacey - the final bill did not include spa treatments. Good thing we're honest! "Amara Resort in Sedona"
This hotel is located next to Oak Creek and has a spectacular view of surrounding mountains. It is a short five minute walk to Uptown Sedona. As mentioned in other reviews, there are places where it is a bit worn or dirty i.e. carpeting on stairs and in elevator, ripped sheer drapery in room and some worn concrete areas outside. "Great smaller resort - everything was wonderful."
The Amara Resort was perfect for a best friends trip to Sedona. We had a double-queen, courtyard-facing room which afforded us a beautiful view of the infinity pool and the red rocks beyond. The staff was attentive and helpful from the moment we pulled up. Joseph helped us to our room with our bags immediately and made sure our car was valet-parked. […] The front desk staff including the concierge were always helpful and promptly attentive. They set us up every day with maps to trailheads for hikes that we wanted to do in Sedona. Every evening the staff offered a wine social in the lobby, which was a nice time to relax with a glass of wine and a bite to eat. On several of the chillier evenings, they offered a bourbon-infused hot cider, as well, which was wonderful. Our beds were made up with high quality linens and the room was spotless and very comfortable. The room had a nice little mini-bar area with a mini-fridge and a nice-sized walk-in closet, which allowed us to put everything away and out of sight. White waffle-weave robes were provided, which made popping out to the hot tub after a long day of hiking very easy. Even though the weather was chilly, we enjoyed the hot tub and the heated saltwater pool every day. The bar staff brought us drinks and snacks out by the hot tub so we could sit and replenish and enjoy the beautiful scenery. Also, we ordered room service for breakfast most mornings, and these orders were delivered promptly and accurately. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Excellent hotel in great location!"
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Amara hotel because of the location, views, aesthetics, staff, food, and amenities. The Amara hotel is an excellent hotel in the main center of Sedona next to all the small shops and restaurants. The hotel is aesthetically pleasing and very clean – the lobby and rooms were very nicely decorated. There is an outdoor […] area for the restaurant which has a beautiful view. We had breakfast and we really enjoyed the food. One great bonus is that they have a shuttle that takes you within a mile of the hotel, which is basically most shops and restaurants. They also offered complimentary yoga in the morning, as well as a tea room and steam. The staff was knowledgeable and friendly. They directed to some great tours and shops.
