The Fernsehturm (TV tower) by Alexanderplatz offers the best view over Berlin. Museums include the Pergamon, National Gallery, Bode and the Old Museum. This hotel was an interesting place to stay. The location is ok (I liked it, I'm 24, but my mom wasn't as pleased with the young, artsy and a little weird neighborhood). It was an easy walk to Museum Island and all of the locations around that including the Berliner Dom (just remember that most of the tourist sites in Berlin are pretty close to one another and public transportation is very easy). The hotel room itself was very clean. The bathroom is an exact copy of a hospital bathroom, including having a drain in the floor so you shower in the middle of the room. It sounds weird, but it was fun and quirky (the only issue was that one person can't get ready using the bathroom mirror if the other person is using the shower). The view was great. Ask for one on the front of the building. The window covers the entire wall from floor to ceiling (very cool!). Lots of great restaurants surrounding the hotel, including a wonderful pizza place on the corner.

We couldn't have been more happy with this hotel. The central Mitte location was perfect, within walking distances to restaurants, shops, attractions and transportation. And while the street was hopping, the room was quiet and comfortable. It had all the amenities and style of a boutique hotel at a great price. The staff was friendly and always helpful.

This was our second stay at the hotel. It was just fine the first time, but on this occasion we were given an upper floor room with a fantastic sloping floor-to-ceiling window. The room was tiny, but the view was spectacular, especially when a violent rain storm pelted the window, and all of Berlin became an impressionist painting.

I loved the location of this hotel in Berlin. It was within walking distance to many areas and there was a U-bahn and S-bahn station right nearby. This area of Berlin is more hip and tends to be a tad loud in the evening with the clubs nearby. I highly recommend this hotel to people who want experience a less commercialized Berlin than in the former West Berlin area. Great restaurants nearby also.

Good location, close to U-bahn and S-bahn stops, at the top of Freidrichstrausse St. Lots of restaurants on the street. The room was definitely something different. The bathroom was actually part of the main room, with just a curtain separating it. I thought it was funky. Obviously they were trying to have a little fun. There was free wifi in the lobby (tho supposedly you had to pay but we didn't). Only negative was if you got a streetside room, you could hear the trams going past. It didnt bother me but might bother light sleepers.

Why stay in a crappy chain where you could be in any city in any country when you could stay in a unique, funky, memorable hotel like the Arcotel Velvet Berlin. The bathroom is part of the room (there is no door separating it from the bedroom) and it's amazing - a real feature. And it still offers privacy (unless you really want to look). A million TV channels, lots of space, a mini-kitchenette with small hob and fridge, great breakfast in the restaurant, attentive staff, the list goes on. It's not even that expensive. Great location - right in the middle of some great bars and local culture.

We arrived at the Arcotel Velvet at 11pm on a Friday night and found the receptionist to be very friendly and polite. We'd booked a junior suite which turned out to be absolutely fantastic. We had a lounge complete with leather sofa, TV and DVD player, with a little kitchen area next to that, and at the other end of the room a floor to ceiling high window with very snazzy electric blackout blinds. Next door to that was our office area, complete with another enormous window to the front. You walked through that past the enormous wardrobes and entrance to the bathroom to the back of the room where the comfortable bed and another TV/DVD player was. The Velvet Lounge did fantastic cocktails and the barmen really knew their stuff. All fresh ingredients were used and they tasted sublime. The breakfast was also good, but was an additional cost on top of the room rate and apparently the cafe next door does excellent breakfasts for a fraction of the price.

God kvalitet for pengene!
