"Not too bad I guess"
My friends and I stayed here for several days, this was our first experience in Miami. The room itself was very clean, some of the furniture has seen better days but that was unimportant to us. It was very spacious and nicely decorated, It wasn't the room I requested but it worked in my favor because it had a view of the ocean and a balcony. My main […] complaints about this place will be the valet service and the elevator. It took 20-30 minutes on most occasions to get and drop off my car, sometimes the valet workers will be at the desk looking right at you and still won't help you until the line gets backed up, and they expected a tip. Then I noticed that they sped off in my car after dropping it off once, I was driving a Chevy Camaro convertible but that is no excuse. There were only 1-2 working elevators at the time and they took forever to come. Checkout time was at 10am and I almost missed that (and be charged an extra fee) due to the slow elevator service. There were several odd things about this place (i.e. a real room key instead of a swipe card, no bell-hop service, early checkout time, no phones in the room) but it was overall a decent place to stay in regards to the price. Valet was more than unorganized, and hotel security was rude. Rooms are clean but mine was falling apart. Room description says full kitchen; well that's a lie you get a sink a few plates and a hot plate to boil water. Oh and BTW the elevators are in terrible shape. I reserved a double beds bedroom and when we there we had one bed and one sofa that you can feel the springs, and it was really unconfortable. The valet parking guys lost my keys two times and I had to wait about 30 mins to get my car. Also the swiming pool closed around 8:30pm, and long wait for the elevatores. There was a weird odor throughout the hotel. The room had no wash cloths and room service never left any after their clean up. While at the desk I had to wait 30 minutes before anyone brought me wash cloths. The air conditioning in the room was down to its lowest temperature (50) and it still did not feel cool enough. Wow where do I start me and my wife had a blast. When we got there the parking attendants were nice and directed us to the counter not to mention it's free unlike every where else in Miami. Terrible, dirty and lousy personnel attention. And although we’d paid for the room in advance, we left and went to another hotel. We were assigned a room in the 12th floor. I’m afraid of heights and asked to be transferred to a room in a lower floor. They told me it was not possible because I had already paid for THAT specific room. I asked to talk […] to someone at Reservations about the matter and they told me Reservations was closed on Saturdays. Unbelievable! A hotel in a city such as Miami will close the entire Reservations office and that there is no one at the hotel whom to speak to. We were tired and travelling with kids, so decided to take the room anyway and calm down my acrophobia. I know I hadn’t asked for a lower floor but I’d never expected the hotel to be so high. Anyway, that doesn’t entitle the attendant to laugh at me because of my condition. But when we got to the room, it smelled very mushy. My son suffers from asthma and is allergic to strong odors. As he entered the room he started coughing. I went to Front Desk and begged them to change our room. Again, they told us the rooms’ assignment depended on Reservations, which was closed. Naturally, we wouldn’t stay and delivered the room keys to him. We asked the receipt of the credit card we’d left as collateral. He refused to do that, saying all receipts were put in a safe to be opened upon check-out. He said the next day they’d open the safe and tear it up. I got a deluxe suite with a bay view on 17th floor. View was amazing! On the bay and all the Miami skyline. Room was nice and clean, shower could be better though. Valet parking is a hassle, u should wait 5-10 min to get your car, but it's free, which is a good deal for Miami beach (average valet parking is $20-25/day). I had stayed at this hotel back in July of 2013 and had no issues. However, this time when I tried to stay I was not allowed to check in due to being under 21, a policy that had been recently changed and not told to me by the hotel. I visit Miami at least once a year, sometimes twice, and this venue ranks as one of the worst I have stayed in over the last 7 years. This venue is a condo building that rents out units. This is not a proper hotel. There aren't even phones in the rooms to call for the valet or the front desk (which is in the basement). There also isn't room service. […] For the cost, you are better off some place else. After checking in I walked around the venue and inquired about getting a refund for the three nights I booked. I was told I had to wait until Monday morning (this is on a Friday) and speak with a Manager via phone who is not located in the U.S. The experience was so unpleasant that we ended up booking another hotel for two of the three nights we were scheduled to stay there. On my last day, I ran into someone else in the elevator who booked the place for a week and she said this place was not what was expected and that she wasn't enjoying Miami because of it. "Looks can be deceiving"
To begin, my mom warned me before I got there since she arrived to the hotel first. She said "don't expect much! This hotel is not even 2 stars". It's not even a hotel to begin with. They're owned condos that are rented out to guests. There is only one key. I booked a penthouse for one night. The only reason they call it a penthouse is because it's […] on the highest floor of the building. The valet service is terrible. There is no such thing as bellboy service because you have to carry your own luggage out of your car and to your room. You rent a bellboy cart from the security desk, just ensure to leave your license with them. There is no "front desk". You have to walk all the way to the lower lobby and look for an office where you "check in". Since it was my first time there, I obviously had a lot of questions, however, nobody had answers and the staff is so rude! My mom kept asking them the simplest questions and the lady at the office kept telling her "I'll answer your questions later." Almost nobody here speaks English, so it will be very difficult for non-Spanish speakers. The building is old and the lobby still has the look of the 60s. I won't lie, the room is remodeled with new furniture and all. But even the furniture is already chipped and scratched. There is barely enough hot water in the room. The pool is okay, however, there aren't enough pool chairs for everybody. The good thing is that the beach is only feet away.
