The location is fantastic. You are walking distance to 1st beach and local restraunts. In addition everything is easy to get to by car. The owner is very friendly and made us feel like family while we were there.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Great place to stay! The location is perfect, right by the beach and in close proximity to the mansion cliff walk. Enjoyed it very much. Staff was very helpful .Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Clean and convenient."
Great service and location. Would definitely stay there again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Enjoyed the trip"
Great stay. The management was friendly, helpful, and kind. Location was wonderful. Beach, cliff walk, and food/drinks were all within walking distance. New Port was a short, easy drive. This place save us a great deal of money over the price of the New Port hotels. Worth a look if you do not mind a 4 minute drive. Will stay again if we return to the […] area. "Comfortable and Friendly"

We have stayed here a number of times. The Inn is friendly and the rooms are always clean. The location is great and avoids the traffic of Newport. We have stayed in other hotels in Middletown and this is our favorite.
"Cleanest place ever"

This little simple hotel is spotless. Not much for luxury but the cleanest place I have ever stayed in. Cleaner than a 5 star hotel! I would stay here again loved it. Staff very helpful perfect location 5 min walk to the cliff walk, 10 min drive to town. Can't wait to come back!
"Quaint little place, Great price!!"

My boyfriend and I were coming from Block Island and spending a night in Middletown. We wanted to spend a day in Newport and this was the perfect place. 5 minute drive to Newport harbors and shoppes. Don't come here expecting a continental breakfast or trendy rooms. This was a perfect spot for one night without breaking the bank. We arrived late and the manager of the restaurant downstairs was able to check us in. This seems like it was an old house turned into rooms. Again, it's not the Ritz but it was perfect!!
"Will Stay here again for sure!"

My girlfriend and I are long time vacationers in the center of Newport but with a last minute trip and a desire to hang out at the beach we snagged up a room at Rhea's. What a find! Stayed in the king room with Jacuzzi tub and private deck with a view of the ocean. Comfortable, clean and close to everything you need. Had no trouble arranging for a short cab right to the center of Newport. Will book this room again. Don't miss out!
"Close enough to the ocean.."

Just got back from a mini vacation. 1st thing was the place was fairly clean and smelled nice. There were only 2 things about our room I didn't like. The comforter had a spot on it (looked like food). I just took it off the bed. Next to the remote were some grape stems on the table. The Inn was close to the beach, stores, and restaurants. It was less then a 5 minute walk to the beach, 15 minutes to the Cliff Walk. The room was spacious. It would have been much better if there was a refrigerator in the room. The room had an older TV, I didn't care though it worked fine. The towels were amazing..even my boyfriend commented on how nice they were. They provided soap, shampoo etc as well. The breakfast downstairs consisted of bagels, toast, cereal, poptarts, fruit, yogurts, and granola bars. I wasn't sure what time we were allowed to "eat" until. We woke up later on our second day. The person who checked us in was friendly, but didn't give basic details about Inn (breakfast, check out times etc and there was no literature in room about it). We would definately stay here again if we came down.
"Somewhat by the sea - but that's OK!"

OK, you CAN see the sea, but you have to peek around lots of buildings to do it! That being said, we liked this place. A lot. While there is certainly nothing outstanding about it physically, and the rooms have a pretty 1970's feel about them with older tube TV's bolted to the wall, and the bathroom REALLY needs more towel bars and there is no elevator so you have to carry the golf clubs up the stairs... So why five stars? Hospitality, pure and simple. Tony (our host) was pro-active in every way - he even had Mexican restaurant reviews ready for us after we said we'd come down in ten minutes to ask about one. There were snacks available any time, the breakfast (continental) was everything you could need, and for those of us who wanted a hot breakfast the Atlantic Grill (and several other restaurants) were a short walk away. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. You should too. If you're looking for the Ritz, stay away. If you're looking for an honest nights stay in a clean room with one of the most hospitable hosts you'll ever meet, then by all means stay at Rhea's.
"A Great Find!"
04/20/14 Judy T Piscataway, New Jersey
We were looking for a hotel room near Newport RI. We came upon this place while searching on line. What a beautiful place. Clean, comfortable and very welcoming. Tony, our host was great, very friendly and helpful. We didn't know what to expect when we pulled into the lot. When we got to our room we were presently surprised at out accommodations. We had a great view of the beach and were able to walk to numerous restaurants. Breakfast was provided every morning. We have no complaints. Loved it!
"Great little place"
03/31/14 sacrebleu62 Midcoast Maine
This small inn has some of the intimacy of a B&B without the risk of having your ear chewed off by guests. The host, Tony, was very welcoming. The place is spotless and looks new. The rooms are beautiful and well appointed, except for old-style tube TVs. Ample breakfast with quality items.
"Much Nicer than The Viking and Never Expected it to Be"
08/17/13 john-hana New York City, New York
I was looking for a hotel room for August 17th Weekend in Newport to celebrate my Wife's birthday. Fortunately there was not a room to be found in Newport because if there had been I never would have found Rhea's by the Sea. When we arrived we were promptly greeted and given the key to our room. Not being sure what to expect we went upstairs to our room. What we found was a spotlessly clean mini suite with a small balcony. Everything worked in the room and the staff was very professional and courteous much like you would expect to receive at the Viking Hotel or The Hyatt but unfortunately not the case at those properties. The Location is very convenient. Walking distance to the beach, Flo's and the Cliff Walk. We will definitely stay here the next time we go to Newport.
"Thank goodness for Rhea's!"
We stayed at Rhea's this past weekend after having to leave our other inn due to many issues (see my review for Admiral Weaver). Rhea's had an open room at an awesome price, given the season. No price gouging here! It was SO clean, which we appreciated even more after our previous inn. It's a 3 min walk to the beach, a 5 min walk to Clifdwalk, and maybe a ten min drive to all the goodies of Newport. Had I known the area, I would have booked here to start. An awesome, affordable accommodation!
