Very nice overall. The hot water and water pressure was poor in the morning and late at night. The closet sliding door was not sliding. There was no coffee pot. Loved the view and the bed, pillows and linens were great. It was nice having the room that we did. Staff seemed warm and friendly.

Room matched picture, but was very small. Furniture showed a lot of wear, although it still functioned. Biggest disappointment was the view that consisted of an alley and trash bins. Family had really hoped to see the city at night.

I have stayed here many times over the years with great satisfaction. This trip was somewhat of a disappointment. Room was very small with no view. No doorman on sat night. Shower didn't work right, sink in bathroom was cracked, unsanitary. The tables in the bar looked dirty. Won't go back

When i called the hotel to find out some information, nobody had the correct answers. The lobby is tiny, there are only 3 elevators for 33 floors. I was charged per device for the internet, which has never happened to me before. The only positive is the large rooms if you get a suite.

Me and my girlfriend stayed for one night here for a comedy show at MSG, and the hotel sells the front of a 5 star hotel but once in the room and experiencing it, NO BUENO. For the price of 1 night, the room should be spotless. To start the suite was facing another building instead of towards the street, the window look like they haven't been washed […] (even though their isn't much to see (SMH)), the sliver-ware had residue of water on it , carpet felt like it had left over dust (like a half *** vacuum cleaner rolled over it), lastly when taking a shower the water would back up even though the water hole was open and when the water filled the tub sand started forming (to make it worst the sand stayed after the water washed down, making it look like we went to the beach). The room it self was comfortable, the bed was the best part of it unfortunately once I got up I felt like that was IT. Book with caution Read more

Was at the Alex during hurricane sandy. Had the 1 bedroom suite. Room was nice sized and comfortsble. The bed was very hard and uncomfortable. Overall a good experience bug the hotel felt a little out of the way

The room was small but nicely furnished and fine by NYC standards. The cleaning staff was loud in hallway, the shower was broken, and there were no convenient plugs to recharge devices, so had to unplug a light. Funky. The room was a little banged up looking.

Excellent front desk staff. There was a particular young lady that worked sun up to sun down and never stopped smiling and helping customers.Everyone really nice and attentive. Excellent location, easy to get cab. Only complaint was no business center, thats a minor complaint.

For our first visit to Manhattan, the JR suite was great. Hotel is In walking distance to Grand Central Station, Times Square, UN, Rockefeller Center and restaurants. Gourmet 45, Perfect Pint , at least 3 Starbucks right next door. Ringo was overpriced for our taste. Hotel is small but we had enough of the crowds by the end of the night. Had an amazing […] view of the Chrysler Building and Hudson River ( we think it was the Hudson). We appreciated having a refrigerator, freezer with ice maker. Dishwasher, stove top and microwave are just extras. Also included all utensils, plates and cups. Only complaint is 4pm check in time, but that was our fault for having such an early arrival time into the city. The staff gladly stored our luggage until our room was ready. Front desk staff was courteous, friendly and followed through on requests as they arose. Security was thorough, efficient and friendly. Housekeepping was good but not efficient. Excellent location. The hotel would not rate 4.5 in terms of the full service of the hotel, for example there is only a very small fitness center and none of the "Health Club" amenities suggested by the name. The room was quiet and comfortable.

Im a New Yorker that wanted a romantic getaway. It was perfect, almost felt as if it was our little apt with a great view in the city (east river and the Chrysler building). Though the theater district is a 15-20 min walk we walked it! The kitchenette was the cherry on top. We were overall pleased with the stay.

I was very happy with my two night stay here. I had a shoot right across the Queensboro bridge so this was a good location. There are a ton of restaurants in the area and the park is walking distance. The staff was polite and helpful. The maid stopped by in the evening to see if I need anything. I booked a 2bdrm/2bth at the Alex this past weekend. It was nice and spacious for 4 people. The hotel itself was very nice, but lack the amenities for a 4 1/2 star property. The lobby was tiny, no gym or pool. It was located on 3rd ave and 45th street, which is a nice area, but it is a bit out of the way for sightseeing. The closest metro is at Grand […] Central Terminal which is 2 avenues and 2 street away. It isn't a bad walk, but once there you still have to take the metro shuttle to Times Square. There were several issues with our room that couldn't be addressed. The entertainment center had a broken door that took 3 trips to be fixed. The shower head literally fell off. The water pressure and temperature control was inconsistent. We had random light bulbs go out during our stay. At least the location was nice.
