The Holiday Inn Camden Lock is a no-frills hotel right near the Camden market. This is kind of a "hip" area and it's pretty interesting and definitely a change from more central London. The tube is pretty close. The hotel itself is decent, nothing fancy. Some of the fixtures and carpet were a bit worn. In the bathroom some of the caulking around the […] tub was cracked or missing. Also, the noise insulation is not particularly good: one evening I was able to hear another guest upstairs snoring. All of that said, for the price and location, it's a pretty good deal. This hotel is nicer than the impression that I got of it from its pictures. I highly recomment it for parents who are visiting UCL students living in one of the Camden dorms. The hotel is incredibly convenient to the Camden Markets, which are REALLY fun to shop at and have GREAT and reasonably-priced food of every ethnicity. The room was very well equipped and was large enough to comformtably accomodate the four of us. The shower was great and helped us survive the jet lag. Very nice Hotel in a very lively, safe and interesting area, dozens of shops, pubs and places to eat. Excellent staff, they were always courteous and helpful. Good size rooms and great facilities. Close to bus and Tube Stations, less that 10 min walk. We enjoyed staying at this hotel, will definitely recommend it.

the staff was very nice, especially the restaurant personnel, and in particular, a lady named Michaela, who was very accomodating in seeing that our breakfast table was serviced well. however, I was disappointed in having to pay 25GBP for 'early checkin' when there was a room available and we were travelling from an overnight flight from the US.............considering […] what our room rate was per nite, it seemed a bit "over the top" for the hotel to charge for this service. there was a noticeable lack of body lotion in the bathroom, which is very standard in other hotels I've stayed at in both United States and Europe and I don't know why the hotel doesn't supply complimentary tubes of it, as I had to purchase some nearby. This was our second time at Holiday Inn Camden Lock and we absolutely love it. The staff is very friendly and extremely accommodating. Nice Hotel, close to Tube Station, 8 min walk, interesting neighborhood, never felt like we were in a danger. The location of this hotel is great and it was one of the few hotels in the area. Easy to get to the tube and great for local shopping. There were some inconveniences about the amenities though; for internet, you could only purchase in 24 hour increments so every day I had to go to the front desk to get a new access code. This was also the only hotel […] that took a photocopy of my passport and kept it with my file. One day the maid service didn't leave any towels and I had to ask for them, and the Kleenex ran out every day. Getting a cab was sort of strange in that they booked a private car hire and when the car arrived I was then encouraged to book to the airport rather than to the train destination. While it wasn't a bad suggestion, it just seemed like the hotel got kick backs for upselling the trip. Finally, upon check out, my bill was incorrect and they had to redo it. Enjoyed this hotel on my resent trip. The only problem I had was the noise of other guest. Area is great and walkable, can take the Tube back to the airport saves on taxi charges which is a heavy cost considering there is the Tube.

I was struck by a cyclist my first afternoon in London. I awoke the next morning feeling extremely ill. The hotel staff was absolutely amazing. They called an ambulance and stayed with my family while the EMT's examined me in case anyone needed anything. When it was determined I needed to go to the emergency room (I was diagnosed with a mild concussion), […] the hotel manager on duty at the time (Giovanni) gave his personal cell phone to my two teenage daughters so they would be able to stay in contact with my husband who accompanied me to the hospital. The staff, especially Giovanni, went above and beyond the requirements of their jobs. They were helpful, friendly, and very professional. I cannot say enough about Giovanni and his staff. I didn't want to leave! I would most highly recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to London! Read more

It was unusually hot in London, and even though the thermostat has a setting as low as 13.5C, the actual room temp was closer to 26C (78F), with weak air circulation. Our chocolate bars even melted! The staff seemed genuinely concerned, and management even offered to upgrade our rooms (although those were not much cooler). Many European hotels are like […] this, but it was disappointing and uncomfortable nonetheless. All hotel personnel were helpful and responsive. The hotel is undergoing an upgrade, so we actually received a large new HD TV screen while there. On the other hand, Internet service is not free, and it's a bit erratic logging in. The location is very good. It's walking distance to a Tube stop, and all the wonderful Camden street markets. You can even walk along a canal to the Zoo. Overall, I would recommend the hotel, but I would warn you not to stay there if you plan to be there during warm weather (unless you don't care), or at least suggest that you request a room on a lower floor. I try to stay away from American chain hotels while abroad. I was delighted with my stay in this Holiday Inn. The location couldn't be better if you're looking for a location on the Northern Line tube that's not in the center of London. And the Camden Lock area is great for walking.

We had been at another hotel courtesy of my husbands company. We took the tube to this location. Camden Lock. The breakfast isn't that much, but it is available and convenient. We just added it to the bill. What else are you gonna do. We ate a couple of times at a resturant down the street called the dinner. The hotel is classed 4 star but looked tired. The room had a large crack in the sink, broken electric sockets that could not be used and a shower control that needed strength to get hot water from it. There were no replacements for tea and coffee after 1st nights stay. Very disappointing overall.

Hotel was decent, in a nice location, ops The Stables and Camden market for shopping. On a quiet street with some restaurants but not too near the underground tubes, maybe 10min walk away. Room was clean but lacked amenities like a mini bar. Service was excellent though.

Room and bathroom were really clean, and due to double glazed windows the noise from outside in Camden Lock (which is quite considerable on a Friday and Saturday night) was minimal and didn't disturb my sleep (and I am a light sleeper who needs a quiet room!). The Holiday Inn in Camden is definitely geared towards the business traveller. Their standard room rates suggest as much. The price paid through Expedia, though, was over 50% cheaper, which made it a viable option. Ideally located, only 5 minute walk from the tube.
