We thought it worked out just fine for our needs. It was inexpensive and walking distance for where we needed to go. The halls were stinky, but the room didn't seem to be. The bed wasn't very comfortable, but we weren't bothered by that too much.

As I was only staying in Toronto for one night, I did not need anything too fancy. Well, this hotel is not. It is fine for one night, don´t get me wrong, the rooms are clean and I slept fine. But checking in was very weird - a young guy sitting behind a small (cheap) computer desk, keys are small metal keys in the drawer... it is more like an advanced […] youthhostel with private rooms and bathrooms. Also, this hotel doesnot offer any meal, not even a packaged pastry for breakfast. There is a Starbucks in walking distance though. Weird is the $50 deposit that you have to pay upon checking in. Kinda emphasizes the youthhostel theory, you know... partying kids, things get broken... but if you can live with all that, go for it. it is rather inexpensive for Toronto, it is clean and I guess the location is not too bad (could not really check it out in detail)... It's a nice place to stay for a little while. It is small, old and rundown. The hotel staff is very nice, and it is located near several nice restaurants and bars. Overall if you don'thave high eexpectations like I do this will be a nice cheap place to stay while you visit Toronto.

Our room was not cleaned even once for 4 nights that we stayed. 1st night we had "do not disturb" sign on but then we took it down and the room was still not cleaned. We had to chase the maintenance lady down one time and take fresh towels from her but again, the room was never cleaned. The whole hotel smelled like cigarettes. WiFi Internet did not […] work on the 3rd floor at all and on other floors - worked only in certain rooms, we had to change 3 rooms before we found one where wifi worked. I had booked this hotel only because i wanted good hotel in the heart of downtown. But experience with this hotel was very bad. I was somewhat disapointed with the general state of the building. Dirty and stained old carpets need to be removed troughout the building. You can smell cigarett smoke in corridors. Not the cleanest hotel. clean sheets and towels though. Perfect location downtown. 5$ parking per day and close to many attractions. Free wifi but didnt work from the room.. Going to the lobby and sit there did it. Perfect deal that I will consider again next time !!!

Bad TV reception, room smelled musty at first, leaky faucet echoed in entire room all night, and mandatory money deposits for additional amenities. Perfect place for what we were looking for me and 2 buddies were going to see UFC at The ACC and location of hotel was great and offered everything we needed and then some, with plenty of character in the neighborhood, lots of restuarants/bars and shops around hotel and about 20 min walk from venue, would stay here again for sure.

Close to downtown and reasonably priced. Room comes with a kitchen (stovetop, sink, fridge, microwave, cupboards, and dishes). Laundry room just down the hall. This place is great for an extended stay if you're on a budget.

I'm guessing the reviews that say the neighborhood is bad aren't by people used to living in the city. The neighborhood is fine (and I'm a woman who was traveling alone.) It seemed to be right at the edge of Chinatown and the fashion district, really close to lots of things to see and do. The parking was cheap and they let me leave my car there until […] the afternoon of the day I checked out, which was cool. The hotel is not a typical hotel, you get more of a college dorm room with a little stove and microwave and some dishes, too. If you're expecting a typical American hotel room and experience, this isn't it. Most of the other people checking in and out when I was there were young Europeans. I've stayed at some questionable hotels and at first this one didn't look promising, but the room was cleaner and nicer than I expected. Even the inside of the fridge looked like it had been recently scrubbed. I was also surprised to find that a maid had stopped by while we were out and left clean towels. The location didn't seem great at first, but it was only a 20 minute walk through Chinatown to get to the City Centre. I had some troubles getting WiFi in my room, but other than that everything was fine. Overall, the hotel was clean and comfortable, with a decent breakfast in the morning - just what I was expecting and looking for. The room, while older, was fine. It actually had a full kitchen which was nice. The location isn't as bad as some reviewers are suggesting (bad neighborhood) but that it is a hike from the downtown area. I paid $5 for parking which would be a steal if they didn't overbook the lot. I asked the attendant what to do if there wasn't a spot and he suggested […] parking illegally inside the lot until the next morning. Having enjoyed the evening, the lot was full, so I parked as best as one can with not much space surrounding the vehicle. The next morning I checked at 6:45am, the lot had multiple cars parked illegally and my car was still there - but no new spots. Checked again at 7:30am, and found a spot - and a handwritten note stating "THIS IS NOT A PARKING SPOT", and then a bunch of typed text explaining that I would receive a ticket the next time this happened. I checked out, and then the attendant told me "I think two spots opened up if you want to move your car." Not the most timely statement ever. Don't offer a service if you can't provide/guarantee. This was not my typical type of hotel. It appeared to be dorm rooms converted into a hotel. The staff was very helpful and courteous. We really had no problems, but it was a no frills hotel. Only soap was provided - no shampoo or conditioner. Our towels were changed every day, and our bed linen was crispy white. We liked the cleanliness of the room. […] However, although we did not use the dishes, we noticed that one of the pans still had some "grease" and was not properly washed so we did not use any of the utensils. Also there was no dishwashing soap or sponges with with to wash the dishes. Our purpose was really to have a place to lay our head at night as we had plans to be out during the day. The hotel suited our purpose for that reason. The accommodations suited the price so we are not really complaining. It is not a real hotel. It is a very low rent apartment with a few individual rooms rented out. Small room with a few pieces of industrial furniture from the 1970s. The outside area are aparments that would be condemed in the USA. At least the well worn linens were clean. Don't stay here unless you are out of all other options.

These rooms seem to have been dorm rooms before being converted for hotel use. Not luxurious by any means, but reasonably nice, with air conditioning that works, a fridge, all the necessaries. However, the wireless Internet service was dog-slow and frequently interrupted. We would stay again, assuming we did not need to use the Wifi for work etc.

For the money.......which was on the lower side of the scale......I was expecting a lot more. It was an old condo complex converted to hotel rooms. The reception area was terrible.....Not inviting at all. The hallways had that musty (wet) smell to them). The room had actual keys....not cards. Once in the room there were exposed electrical lines as […] if someone didn't want to take the time to do it right the first time. Closets, TV, Furniture, bathroom, etc. were completely outdated. This is a great budget place. When reading reviews one must be careful to read between the lines. Many comments were about the "Sketchy" neighborhood, which, if you prefer the modern shopping areas to surround you, is certainly not for you. If you want to stay in a real neighborhood, this is for you. Some people just feel uncomfortable being around […] people "poorer" than they are. How sad. Manager was great. Could not set up wireless immediately and he came up to the room and got it done right away. Free wireless/LAN connection, 3 local newspapers, $4 parking (vs. $19 at the Super 8 down the street), nice little kitchen, great water pressure and a nice bathtub. Very nice and helpful staff. Cheapest in downtown area, great location. I hope that if anyone has a REAL problem, they will report it, instead of just complaining because things may be "different" from their norm. The manager summed it up perfectly - "it's not fancy, but we try to make it comfortable." It's a great place We stayed 2 nights and would go back in a Texas heartbeat. Read more
